What if you could change the world simply by doing what you love? Be it dancing, running, baking, or even painting! Last year, a few schools around the country decided to do just that, after being inspired by worldrecord athlete, Julia Immonen and her 45-day row across the Atlantic ocean to raise global awareness on human trafficking. Following Julia’s campaign title #RowForFreedom, each school chose a #ForFreedom project that would contribute to helping others in need whether its simply raising awareness on social injustice or directly raising funds towards its cause.
#GiveForFreedom SMK KIARAMAS A"Free Market Day" where two orphanages were invited to ‘shop for free’! The students collected items, raised and donated RM2400.00 for them, and also cooked food for the event.
#EducationForFreedom SMK ASSUNTA A voluntary tutoring program where students took turns in groups to tutor children from the Agathians Shelter every two weeks. They held art and reading sessions for these primary school-aged children that helped encourage creativity and improve literacy.

#SBUForFreedom SMK SERI BINTANG UTARA A 500m awareness walk and a day full of games to remind students that not every child has the freedom to play safely. All participating students shared their thoughts about human trafficking and what they’ve learnt throughout this awareness day.
#PlayForFreedom SK KARAK A sports day that gave special needs students and typical students the chance to learn how to play and work together.
#Anti-BullyForFreedom SM SAINS SELANGOR An awareness campaign educating other students on how to deal with bullying. It also involved a car wash, selling t-shirts and buttons, as well as a talk session with police. They also visited other schools to talk about how they can also be bully-free schools.

In the past students used to study looking at blackboards and books. Now, we study using the Internet and computers. Through all of this, learning styles still remain the same. Ever wondered what kind of learner you are? Take this quiz and find out.

Your friends sometimes get bored of listening to lessons, but you find it fun! Try to find a quiet place where you can study without being distracted by noise!
You learn best by doing things. Sometimes, when nobody’s looking, you even dance around the room for fun! Don’t forget to take a break now and then to stretch!
To better understand your learning style, hop into the Frog VLE, click on the Quick Launch icon and select the Learning Styles App. You’ll be taken through a list of questions to show you the type of learner you are.

MAKE YOUR OWN
Book FrogAsia’s World Book Month is just around the corner, so we thought it would be fun to learn how to do simple bookbinding! It’s an easy art and craft idea that can be used to make presents.
YOU’LL NEED A4 patterned paper x 1 A4 plain paper x 10 A hole puncher x 1 A blade x 1 1.5 meter coloured string x 1 Ruler x 1 Stickers (optional)
Just follow the 5 steps below!
2
1
Fold!
Fold the A4 patterned paper down the middle and use the blade to cut it in half. Do the same for the A4 plain paper and make 20 A5-sized pieces in total. Use a ruler to help you get straight line cuts.
Put Together!
Sandwich your plain paper in between your patterned paper. Make sure the patterns are always facing the outside. Then stack it together so that all papers are aligned on the side that you will be binding.
3
Make holes!
Using a hole puncher, punch holes through the papers on the side that you will be binding. Make sure your holes are evenly spaced apart.
5
4
Decorate!
This part is entirely up to you. You can draw patterns on it, leave it plain, or fill it with colourful stickers just like we did!
Tie up!
Thread your string through the first hole at the corner and tie a small knot. Using the longer end of the string, start weaving through each hole as shown in the photo. Tie a knot to secure the string. Cut off any loose ends.
This is a simple bookbinding technique for beginners. For something more advanced, watch this video tutorial.

ways to fall in
g n i d a e r h love wit Reading is a good habit to have. You’ll be able to read and learn about many wonderful places and things. Constant reading also helps to improve your language skills. Here are some ways to grow your love for reading!
1
Set a normal reading time Think of a time in your day when you’re free. Maybe in the morning, at the bus stop or in the evening, after you’ve finished your homework. Instead of watching TV or surfing the Internet, spend 20 - 30 minutes reading instead. Make sure you do it every day!
Always carry a book with you Going somewhere where you’ll be waiting a lot, like the dentist, or following mum to the bank? Then make sure you bring a book along! It’s a great way to pass the time and not be bored!
3
Find a book you love! Books and stories are often divided into categories like Mystery, Science Fiction, Fantasy and so on. Find one with stories that interest you the most!
Ask your friends about what they are reading! Grow a habit of reading and sharing books with your friends! This helps encourage you to read books you’ll otherwise not read or buy!

Keep a reading diary After reading a book, write down the parts you found interesting in a reading diary. You’ll remember the story better while improving your writing skills. If you have a NILAM book, why not write in that as well?
