Head Coach Brian Parker B r ian

PARKER HEAD COACH FROSTBURG STATE

Brian Parker begins his 14th season as head coach of the Frostburg State University women's soccer program in 2015. The 1992 FSU graduate is the winningest Bobcat women's soccer coach with a 182-61-29 record in his 13 seasons. Parker’s teams aren’t just winning on the field, but the Bobcats have won eight-straight NSCAA Team Academic honors and eight-straight NSCAA Team Ethics awards. Heading into the 2015 season, Parker was ranked 27th among active NCAA Division III coaches with a .721 winning percentage and he is 34th all-time among both active and nonactive coaches in winning percentage in Division III. Five years ago, the Bobcats joined the Capital Athletic Conference and they haven’t skipped a beat. Frostburg has posted 69 wins, including back-to-back 17-win seasons in 2010 (17-4-1) and 2011 (17-2-2). FSU has earned 28 wins in conference play, including the 2012 and 2014 CAC Tournament Championships. Over the last five years, Frostburg has posted a combined 48 shutouts, including 34 at home and 16 against CAC opponents. The Bobcats have twice finished second in the CAC regular season standings (2010 & 2011) and have placed 23 players on the All-CAC teams. For the second time in three seasons, Frostburg made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament after capturing the 2014 CAC Tournament Title. The Bobcats knocked off top-seeded Christopher Newport in the semifinals of the tournament before shutting out Mary Washington, 2-0, in the title game at Bobcat Stadium. FSU led the conference in save percentage (.859), goals (48) and points (129). In 2013, Frostburg posted eight wins and advanced to the CAC Tournament for the fourth-consecutive season. FSU led the conference in scoring (2.3 gpg), finished second in both goals (41) and assists (32) and finished with the league’s fourth-lowest goals against average (1.13). The Bobcats were the only CAC school to finish the season without a yellow or red card. In 2012, the Bobcats earned the program's seventh NCAA Tournament appearance after defeating Salisbury in the CAC Tournament Championship game. FSU led the CAC and finished 25th in the country at 3.15 goals per game, while posting a minuscule 0.77 goals against average. To cap the accolades, Adria Graham became the program's first-ever NSCAA All-American, while coach Parker was named the CAC Coach of the Year. Prior to 2010, FSU won the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament five times under Parker's guidance (2002-05 and 2009). He also powered the Bobcats to the ECAC Tournament

in three-consecutive seasons from 2006-2008. In 2009, Frostburg finished with a school-record 18 wins (18-4 overall), scored a program record 90 goals, and advanced to the AMCC Championship game for the 11th-straight year. Parker, a two-time AMCC Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2004, led the Bobcats to 95 wins from 2002-08, 35 wins in the AMCC and a then-school record 12 wins in the 2003 season. Parker coached 36 All-AMCC selections and six league Players of the Year, including three-time Great Lakes AllRegion honoree Karen Kotofski. Prior to returning to western Maryland, Parker served as head girls soccer coach at Urbana High School in Frederick County, Md., since the school's opening in 1995. He guided the Hawks to an impressive 62-36-6 record and a pair of regional championships during his tenure. In just his second season at Urbana, Parker was named the Frederick County Coach of the Year after leading a team of freshmen and sophomores to the school's first-ever regional championship crown. The Hawks, who posted winning records in six of Parker's seven years, earned their second regional title in 2001. Parker is no stranger to FSU, as he was a goalkeeper for the Bobcats from 1987-89. He was a member of two Eastern College Athletic Conference Tournament qualifiers, including the 1989 squad that won the ECAC South Region Championship. Parker then coached the FSU women's soccer team as a club sport from 1990-1992 and received his degree in social sciences with a teaching certification from FSU in 1992. He moved on to West Virginia University where he served as a graduate assistant for the Mountaineer men's team for two years while earning a master's in political science. Parker, who has a USSF "B" coaching license and a Premier Diploma from the NSCAA, is on the coaching education staff of both the Maryland State Youth Soccer Assoc. (MSYSA) and the NSCAA and teaches in the FSU Minor in Coaching program. Parker is also frequently on the Maryland Olympic Development Program Staff and led the Maryland 1999 Girls to the 2015 Region Tournament Finals and just returned to the Club to be head coach of their U-15 Girls team. Parker was a founder and staff coach with the Frederick United Soccer Club (now FC Frederick) until his return to FSU and just returned to the Club to be head coach of their U-15 Girls team. He and his wife, Karen, a 1993 FSU graduate and native of Frostburg, have two children — Elise (14) and Matt (12).

Assistant Coaches Dani

GUNDERSON ASSISTANT COACH CHRIS. NEWPORT

Danielle Gunderson enters her first season as the top assistant with the Frostburg State women's soccer team in 2015. Gunderson joins a Bobcat coaching staff that has won the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament in two of the last three seasons with two appearances in the NCAA Tournament. She arrives in Frostburg after serving as an assistant coach at Susquehanna University for the last two years. The Crusaders were named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Academic Team both years, while four players were named to the All-Landmark teams. In the summer of 2013, Gunderson worked a pair of women's soccer camps at both William and Mary and Christopher Newport, while in 2014 she worked at Bucknell University at the women's soccer ID clinics. A 2013 graduate of Christopher Newport, she was a

standout collegiate women's soccer player. She started her career at NCAA Division I Radford, helping the Highlanders to the Big South Conference Tournament semifinals. Gunderson finished her career at CNU playing the final three years (2010-12), while finishing as one of the Captains' top scorers. As a sophomore she totaled 21 points and led CNU to the USA South regular season and tournament championships. Over her final two seasons, she totaled 50 points and helped Christopher Newport to the USA South Tournament each year. She was a three-time All-USA South selection and was a Third Team NSCAA All-Region honoree. She also played for the Virginia Beach Piranhas of the USL W-League for back-to-back summers in 2011 and 2012. Gunderson holds a Level 1 goalkeeping NSCAA certificate and a Level 2 NSCAA coaching certificate.

Daniel

O'ROURKE ASSISTANT COACH KEYSTONE

Daniel O’Rourke enters his second year as a graduate assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Frostburg State University in the fall of 2015. He will primarily work with the goalkeepers on both squads. O’Rourke helped the Bobcat women capture the 2014 CAC Tournament Championship, including an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. On the men’s side, Frostburg finished second in the nation in save percentage (.909) and fifth in team goals against average (.45). O’Rourke joined the Bobcat staffs after a successful playing career at Keystone College. He was team captain, Second Team All-Conference and an All-Academic honoree as a

freshman. In his sophomore year, he was awarded Defensive MVP while starting every game since his debut at Keystone. Prior to Keystone, O’Rourke was as a member of several soccer teams including Dundrum AFC, St. Joseph’s Boys AFC and Arklow Town AFC. He also brought coaching experience to the Bobcats as he served as an assistant goalkeeping coach to the UCD Ladies’ Soccer Team. O’Rourke graduated from Keystone College with a bachelor’s degree in sport and recreation management.

2015 Season Preview Boasting Capital Athletic Conference Tournament championships in two of the last three years, it would be hard to argue that the Frostburg State women’s soccer team doesn’t have momentum on its side as it heads into the 2015 campaign. The Bobcats, winners of 13 games last year, kick off the season on Tuesday, Sept. 1, and will be led by the return of seven seniors. A year ago, the Bobcats hoisted the CAC Tournament trophy at Bobcat Stadium and made their eighth NCAA appearance in 14 years. So it goes without saying, this year’s senior class would like to leave their FSU careers with three league titles to their credit. “Having such a large senior class creates a sense of urgency and an added level of pressure,” said head coach Brian Parker. “We obviously want to host the CAC Tournament Championship and reach the NCAA’s again, but we have to stay focused from week-to-week. We don’t want to look too far ahead, but rather let the season progress normally toward the postseason.” In total, Frostburg returns 17 players from a year ago after finishing second in the CAC in goals (48) and third in

[ LO N G O ]

assists (33), while posting the league’s third-lowest goals against average (0.82). Even with the depth and talent returning, Parker is sticking to his MO of week-to-week progress. “We want to take things one game at a time, especially with two early tests in a pair of top-10 teams in the first few weeks of the season,” said Parker. “We want to find out if we are a national caliber team and those two early tests will give us a good indication of just that. It will be a great opportunity for the team.” There is no doubt this year’s seven-member senior class will try and improve on last season’s nine shutouts and 13 wins. Last fall, those seven seniors combined for 116 starts and 168 points. Stacked Offense Leading the way, will be an offensive midfield group that will be powered by seniors Brooke Longo, Erin Worthman, Chelsie McCoy and Kelsey Wentworth. Longo enters her final season as a box-to-box

2015 Season Preview midfielder and she carries with her three-straight All-CAC honors, including a first-team selection a year ago. One of the team’s most technically skilled players, Longo posted seven points in 19 games in ’14. Worthman is the Bobcats’ returning leading scorer from last season with 25 points, behind nine goals and seven assists. She should emerge as one of the CAC’s

[ D IT U L LO ]

top players after honing her skills this past summer with the Washington Spirit Reserves, who won the W-League Championship. McCoy and Worthman will provide a valuable 1-2 punch after the pair each started over 20 games as juniors in 2014. McCoy finished third on the team in scoring with seven goals and four assists. Wentworth plays a different role in Parker’s scheme and helps more in the midfield then Worthman and McCoy. Wentworth handed out one assist last fall but helped the defense to a 0.82 GAA. Tenacious Defense While the midfield will grab the headlines with the offensive statistical numbers, the Bobcat defense will quietly go about posting their own impressive stats. Senior Jessa DiTullo might be one of the shortest players on the roster, but she was one of just two players to start all 23 games a year ago and helped power the defense to those nine shutouts. She garnered Second Team All-CAC honors in the process. Senior Abby Aposporos returns for her final season after appearing in 10 games and providing valuable minutes in the backfield. With all of the talent returning this year to the Bobcat roster, the only real question lies in net. Gone is three-year starter Katie Smith and the open spot will be a wide-open competition throughout the preseason. Senior Page Gray has appeared in 11 games in goal her previous years as a Bobcat and she will battle junior Karen Belteton and an incoming freshman for the starting gig. Last season, Gray made seven saves in just over 90 minutes of action. Frostburg opens its season on Tuesday, September 1, when it hosts St. Vincent at 7:00 pm.
