LUY HEAD COACH GETTYSBURG
Dale Luy begins his sixth year as the head coach of the Frostburg State University men’s and women’s cross country teams in 2015. Luy’s women’s cross country team highlighted the 2014 season by winning both the Aaron Slafka Invitational at PittGreensburg and the Hood College Open. Frostburg finished with four top-five team finishes, including a fifth-place showing at the CAC Championships. Frostburg was also named a Division III All-Academic Team by the USTFCCCA after carrying a 3.43 GPA. The Bobcat men captured eighth place at the CAC Championships and 38th at the NCAA Mideast Regional to round out their 2014 campaign. Frostburg’s best finish was third at the Aaron Slafka Invitational. In 2013, Luy led the Bobcat men’s team to a fifth-place finish at the CAC Championships, while Pat Mead earned First Team All-CAC honors. FSU totaled three top-five finishes in seven meets and capped the season with 34th place at the NCAA Mideast Championships. The Bobcat women’s team capped the year with four top-10 finishes in seven meets and earned eighth place at the CAC Championships. In 2012, Luy guided the Frostburg men’s and women’s cross country teams to fifth and sixth-place finishes, respectively, at the CAC Championships. Both Gavin Caupp and Pat Mead earned Second Team All-CAC honors after finishing 14th and 15th at the league championships. The FSU men capped the season with a 43rd-place showing at the NCAA Mideast Regional. For the second-straight season, the Bobcat women grabbed sixth place at the CAC Championships. Two weeks later, Frostburg posted 44th at the NCAA Mideast Regional. In 2011, both the Bobcat men’s and women’s teams highlighted their seasons with a pair of sixth-place finishes at the CAC Championships. On the men’s side, the Bobcats earned a pair of sixth-place finishes on the year. In an early season test at the future site of the CAC Championships, the Bobcats captured sixth at the Coach Achtzehn Classic at York (Pa.). Five weeks later, the Bobcats repeated with sixth place at the conference championship meet. Five runners capped the season by competing at the NCAA Mideast Regional. Like the men, the FSU women captured a pair of sixthplace finishes on the season. They captured sixth at the Shippensburg Univ. Alumni Open that kicked off the fall season. The Bobcats capped the year with another sixth-place showing, this time at the CAC Championships. Under wintery conditions, senior Anne Patron captured runner-up honors and was named to the All-CAC team. A week after the CAC’s, four runners represented Frostburg at the NCAA Mideast Regional. Luy guided the Bobcats to a successful first year in the Capital Athletic Conference in 2010. The Bobcat women's team captured fourth at the league championships while Anne
Patron and Jessica O'Neil went on to earn All-CAC honors and represent FSU at the NCAA Mideast Regional meet. On the men's side, the Bobcats grabbed a pair of top10 finishes during the season before finishing sixth at the CAC Championships. Frostburg capped the season with a 36th-place showing at the NCAA Regional meet. Luy brought a combined 19 years of experience coaching cross country to FSU. He served as the head coach at both Elizabethtown College for 12 years and Lower Dauphin High School for seven. His Elizabethtown teams set school records for wins in a season while his women's team twice earned Middle Atlantic Conference runner-up honors. Individually, Luy's runners have earned Division III Mideast All-Region honors as well as a prestigious Rhodes Scholar recipient. At Lower Dauphin, his teams won two MidPenn Divisional Championships and the MidPenn class-AAA Championship Luy is no stranger to FSU athletics as he has served as the school’s head track & field coach for the last eight years. Coach Luy has accomplished a great deal in just eight years. He has guided three of his student-athletes to All-American status, led the women’s team to a ninth place finish at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships and a first place showing at the Mason-Dixon Conference Championships that same year. During the 2011-12 indoor season, Luy was named the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Coach of the Year after guiding the Bobcats to a runner-up showing at the league championships. Luy, who brought over 30 years of coaching experience to FSU spanning both the high school and collegiate levels, came to Frostburg having spent three years as an assistant coach at Gettysburg College. While with the Bullets, he worked with the throwing events and pole vault. He had one NCAA Div. III provisional qualifier (men’s discus), two Centennial Conference women’s discus champions, one conference women’s pole vault champion and one conference men’s javelin champion. His athletes also set six school records and 16 all-time top ten performances. Before Gettysburg, Luy served as the head track & field coach for six years at Elizabethtown Area High School. He had 14 PIAA District III qualifiers, two state qualifiers and set two school records. He directed the renovation and new placement of the track and field facilities working with engineers, architects and district officials. Luy earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Gettysburg in 1978, Masters of Education in Teaching and Curriculum from Penn State - Harrisburg in 1991 and his Doctor in Sports Management from the United State Sports Academy in 2007. While at Gettysburg, Luy was a four-year letterwinner for the track and field teams taking home NCAA All-American honors in 1976 as a member of the 440-yard relay team and 1977 in the 1,600-meter relay.

LUY ASSISTANT COACH SUSQUEHANNA
Kendall Luy enters her fourth year as an assistant coach for the Frostburg State University cross country programs. She also serves as the track & field programs’ top assistant and has worked with the throwers since 2009. Last fall, Luy helped lead the Bobcat women to a pair of wins at the Aaron Slafka Invitational at Pitt-Greensburg and the Hood College Open. The women, who were named a Division III All-Academic Team by the UTFCCCA, finished fifth at the CAC Championships. Meanwhile, the FSU men captured eighth at the league championships and posted a season-best third-place finish at the Aaron Slafka Invitational. In her first two years as a cross country assistant, Luy helped lead Bobcat runners to three All-CAC awards, nine top-10 finishes between both teams and 18 All-Academic CAC honorees. Additionally, both the men’s and women’s teams have competed at the national level, earning invitations to the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships. Over the last several years, the Frostburg track & field throwers have set several school records and earned numerous awards. Last spring, J.R. Lowery bested his own school record in the shot put and hammer throw and earned a trip to the NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships after placing first in the shot (16.64 meters) at the ECAC Outdoor Championships. Fourteen FSU athletes qualified for the ECAC Championships and several posted season-bests at the meet. Throughout the outdoor 2015 season alone, Luy’s throwers
posted 10 wins, eight runner-up finishes, 45 top-5 placings and 97 top-10 throws. Luy arrived at FSU after a four-year athletic career with the Susquehanna track & field program. While there, she participated in the javelin, shot put, sprints, and relays. She was an NCAA Division III National provisional qualifier in the javelin in 2008 and was a Landmark Conference AllAcademic Team selection during the 2007-08 year. She was also a three-time All-Middle Athletic All-Conference selection. In 2003, she participated in the USATF Junior Olympics at the regional championships. The four-year Dean’s List Scholarship student and Presidential Fellow, graduated in May 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in psychology. Until being hired at Frostburg State, Luy had worked at Bret’s Adventure, helping to facilitate activities which require social interaction skills, assist with home school lessons and provide support for autistic children. Luy was also the manager for the Office of Multicultural Affairs while at Susquehanna. Luy graduated in May 2011 with her master’s degree in counseling psychology from Frostburg State University. Luy is a USATF Level I coach and she also has her Track & Field Technical Certification from the USTFCCCA.
