SUSTAINABILITY GOES PRAGMATIC

Today packaging is conceived as a solution which must comply with environmental sustainability, functionality, cost saving and preservation of the fresh produce. The wishes of consumers and the boundaries of the trade have to be lined up to streamline the path which leads to sustainability. CARTON PACK pursues its future path consisting of innovative projects, eco-design, development of sustainable processes and products aimed at a more responsible consumer who is attentive to environmental issues.

Sustainability has two areas of development: 1. B2B AREA - Sustainability starts with the “right raw material”, taking into account a multi-material approach as implemented by CARTONPACK. Raw material must be available in abundance and fully recyclable for the converting industry; but the “right choice” must take into account the requirements of the packer for application and best performance. The packaging industry and packers have to deal with technical and logistic challenges and furthermore the economic balance. 2. B2C AREA – In this area of fresh produce consumption, healthy and safe food is the consumer’s goal. But perception and buying decisions are also aspects of appeal and visual merchandising that guide the consumer’s choice. Besides this sustainability is expected to come from the B2B

AREA within a “sustainable pricing”.

CARTONPACK is pursuing this combination as the best framework to bring a valuable offer and a realistic solution to the supply and distribution chain. Two packaging solutions that can be mentioned as highly representative of this approach are the SOCIAL PLASTIC® BUCKET and the CARTONSHELL®. The fi rst one is a mono-material (fully recyclable rPET) bucket with an integrated handle, both for lidding and heat-sealing applications. SOCIAL PLASTIC® (Plastic Bank) is recovered from the oceans and lands in compliance with the ethics of sustainability. It is aimed at improving the living conditions of people living in poverty in countries where plastic pollution is at its highest level ever. CARTON PACK gives recycled plastic a whole new value with an increased focus on ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY. CARTONSHELL® (FSC) is a fl uted cardboard clamshell with a cellulose window, engineered for both manual and automatic packaging. Both products are eco-designed and developed for the best technical and commercial performance. These are concrete results of the combination that lead to packaging sustainability.
