WITH DELIGHT, I WELCOME MY FAVORITE TIME OF THE YEAR - AUTUMN. IT IS THE MOST fashionable time of the year too. If you are living in the Northern Hemisphere, you can combine fabrics and colors in the autumn light. If you are welcoming spring in the Southern Hemisphere, the color spectrum is opposite, yet you can still mix fabrics just the same. Therefore, traveling now is easy. You can travel light and still have many options. No extremes to conquer with wardrobe demands. Go outside and enjoy the sun's rays that make us happy. In so many countries red carpets roll out to host cultural moments to remember. The opera and symphony open for the season and with those beautiful ballgowns to admire. A touch of elegance is needed in every life, no matter at what scale. Elegance wakes up the dreamer in us for more joy and a better life. Much Love, Elisabeth Thieriot

2017 BEAUTY TRENDS WITH
HRUSH ACHEMYAN PHOTOGRAPHER: LEVON MURADIAN
VOL. 7 ISSUE 1
FSHN MAGAZINE: What new makeup product(s) will be popular in 2017? HRUSH ACHEMYAN: Fashion in 2017 is all about the ‘90s. Makeup goes hand in hand
with fashion. The new wave will be lit from within, which means liquid highlights. I love the Koh Gen Do Aqua Illuminator and the Becca Opal Liquid Illuminator. Another trend will be full eyebrows. We are not all blessed with bushy brows, but we can mimic real hair strokes with feathering. Stay away from building block eyebrows. I love the Make Up For Ever Pro Sculpting Brow, as it is a 3-in-1 tool. Additionally, I love the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo. Applying the brow powder with this brush will make your job much easier. The Morphe Brushes E11 Elite II Angled Brow Brush is the best. FSHN: No matter what season, every woman wants an option for her lips. What is Hrush's suggestion for winter and spring? Colors? Bold or soft? HA: I am a strong believer in lip scrubs and lip conditioners before the application of any lip.
During the winter time, my favorite lip is Dior Crème de Rose. It gives your lips a tiny plump, hydrates, and adds a sheer pink tint. I love nude colors during the winter, along with a lot of hydration since it is a dry season. I love bright colors on the lip in the spring. A good coral during springtime goes a long way with any look. My favorite shade is Lime Crime Suedeberry. I love a gloss, but only in the center of your lips. I am obsessed with the Koko Kollection x Kylie Cosmetics "Damn Gina." It is the prettiest, shimmery pink!
FSHN: What about our eyes? Eyeshadow or Eyeliner? Both? HA: I am all about a lashy vibe this year! Pro tip: Individual eyelashes last a long time and do
not come off as easy as a strip lashes. I love brown eyeliners as well. If you are feeling a wing, switch it up from black to brown for a softer look. FSHN: Are there new application techniques we should try? HA: Try applying a liquid illuminator before your foundation application. Apply it with your
fingertips to the peaks of your face. It will make the look extremely dewy, but still appear natural. Liquid illuminators will become your best friend, especially in the summer sun. FSHN: No matter the trends what is one staple always in Hrush's makeup bag? HA: Lip Balm, always and forever!

THE WEATHER IS SO INCONSISTENT THAT IT IS INCREDIBLY
038
complicated to choose an outfit to deal with the temperature, never mind one that will coordinate with the unspoken rules of dress. Shopping is extremely difficult with the temperatures fluctuating as they are. The challenge is to look like it’s fall while making sure to properly cover up for when the thermometer drops below 48 degrees and not get swamped up in something that is too hot for those surprise warm afternoons. Although this is a difficult problem to solve, I believe the solution lies in light jackets and outerwear. No one wants to look out of place or dress for the wrong occasion or season. Cashmere can be a great solution either to wear or put around your shoulders. It says fall, but it is still warm. To return to outerwear, light coats are the best way to prepare for the precarious weather. A light brushed cotton or even a silk wool blend could easily keep you warm and look chic flung over your shoulder the instant it becomes incredibly hot. Trench coats are not a great option, except when it is actually raining. Capes and ponchos always seem too wintery. A minimalist car coat or safari jacket might be the best silhouette for this weather. When it comes to looking appropriate during the fall season, being properly covered and not looking as if it is already winter are key. >>

ITH A CAREER IN THE entertainment industry spanning over 30 years, John Stamos has transformed from a teen idol to one of Hollywood’s hottest leading men. Whether it is his age-defying skin or charming personality, both men and women are drawn to him – men want to be him, and women want to be with him.
046
As an actor and a musician, Stamos’ career has continuously been on the rise over the past few years. After appearing in several Broadway shows, including “Bye Bye Birdie” and “Gore Vidal’s The Best Man,” Stamos went on to star in television shows such as “Necessary Roughness” and “Grandfathered.” His most recent project, Fox’s comedyhorror series, “Scream Queens,” reunited the Emmy Award-nominated actor and producer with Ryan Murphy, following guest-starring roles in “Glee” and “The New Normal.” Stamos joined the cast in a series regular role alongside veteran actress Jamie Lee Curtis. “Jamie and I were always destined to work together and become good friends. We're cut from the same cloth. I think I remind her of her father (which is the best compliment). So, we’ve gotten really close. She’s a remarkable woman. She’s quite magical,” said Stamos. During the past year, Stamos also reprised his role as everyone’s favorite uncle, Jesse Katsopolis, in both seasons one and two of the Netflix revival of “Full House.” In fact, he was so instrumental in reviving the series that he also signed on as an executive producer. However, convincing a network to take a chance on the show proved to be no easy feat. “Everyone passed except Netflix – and Netflix was actually the last place we took it to,” said Stamos. Just recently it was announced that the series was renewed for a third season. Despite being in the spotlight for several decades, Stamos has managed to accomplish what many in the industry only dream of – staying relevant and sought-after. It is his key to career longevity that is simple. “I always go back to what my Dad taught me – always treat everybody the same way you treat the janitor. And good genes from parents don’t hurt,” said Stamos. >> jumpsuit CARHARTT tank top HANES

INTERVIEW
CHRISTOPHER RENTERIA: Looking back over the course of your career, are there any roles that you turned down that you wish that you had not? JOHN STAMOS: Ya, I wish I had taken "Nip/Tuck." It was
a bit too avant-garde for me at the time – so I was afraid of it I guess – but now I’ve learned anything that scares me I should probably take. CR: Are there any roles that you regret accepting? JS: You know, I’ve realized that sometimes you think you’re
going to regret something and then it ends up being great. And you end up being happy with it, that it’s out there – like the movie I did, "Never Too Young to Die" – now it’s like "Rocky Horror Picture Show!" It’s so fun. So, you can’t get caught up in regret. CR: In an industry that is very competitive, is it hard to find roles that you are truly passionate about? JS: Yes, but you kind of stop being picky at some point
because you never know what could happen when you take something…what it could turn into.
CR: Is there a particular process that you go through when you are selecting your roles? JS: It’s different with every role - people say I’ve been smart
with my roles…and the main thing at my age now is considering whether or not it’s going to be an enjoyable experience with the people involved.
050
CR: Considering the fact that this marks the third time that you are portraying a doctor, what attracted you to the role of Dr. Brock Holt on "Scream Queens?" JS: Brad Falchuk called me – he said there’s this role, and
you’re going to love it – he’s (the character) the first doctor to get a hand transplant and the hand ends up belonging to a serial killer. So, I was in! You know, I trust those guys to recommend roles to me – it was a good jumping off place to work with Ryan Murphy and have him shake up my normal roles a bit.
CR: This also marks your third time working with Ryan Murphy, what was it like working with him this time around on "Scream Queens" versus "Glee" and "The New Normal?" JS: He (Ryan) knew this would be a great role for me…you
can always feel his influence when you’re working on his shows – he’s always sending encouraging emails, you always feel his presence. The way he works – everything starts with him – and the people who work with him are fantastic. He created a very colorful, out there world and it’s a bigger playground than a lot of other shows. He’s one of the reasons I took the job.
CR: Is there a chance that we could see you on one of Ryan’s other shows, such as "American Horror Story," in the near future? JS: I’d like to be on "American Horror Story" – I don’t think
I was ready for a show like that until now after doing "Scream Queens."
CR: You were able to get nearly every cast member from "Full House," except for one or two, to appear in some capacity on "Fuller House." How difficult of a task was that?
jumpsuit DICKIES
VOL. 7 ISSUE 1
051
YES, BUT YOU KIND OF STOP BEING PICKY AT SOME POINT BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT COULD HAPPEN WHEN YOU TAKE SOMETHING… WHAT IT COULD TURN INTO.
JS: Wasn’t difficult at all. The cast had full disclosure that
it was something we were working on – everyone knew we were trying to make it happen. And everyone was game to do it before we pitched it.
CR: Are there any specific storylines that you would like to explore in season three of "Fuller House?" JS: I’m excited about the adoption storyline. You know
we initially thought let’s have Jesse and Becky have a baby – then we did the math – and got the adoption idea! In the last episode of Season 2, we come home with the baby, so I think there could be a lot of fun things to explore with that storyline in future seasons.
CR: With production on "Scream Queens" and "Fuller House" both complete, do you have any other upcoming projects? JS: A lot. I’ve started a ton of projects that I now have a bit
of time to work on. Directing, writing – when I have time like this I can really dig into learning and working on new things. ◆

LARETTA HOUSTON IS AN AWARD-WINNING AMERICAN PHOTOGRAPHER BASED IN LOS ANGELES. SHE RECEIVED HIGH RECOGNITION THROUGH HER ARTISTIC WORK WITH CELEBRITIES, ADVERTISING CLIENTS, AND ARTISTS WHILE LIVING IN ATLANTA INCLUDING VH1, LUPE FIASCO, AND TEDDY RILEY.
076
Born in the impoverished areas of Angeles City, Philippines as the daughter of a military father, she learned the hardship of life at a very young age, especially after she lost her mother at thirteen and ended up in the foster care system. Later she eventually settled in the United States and despite the struggle to survive she managed to earn a degree in Multimedia and Web Design. It was then that she discovered her love and passion for photography, and how to use it as an artistic channel to express her emotions. When I first worked with Laretta a few years ago, I must admit that I felt a bit intimidated by her initial toughness. At that point, I did not know her life story or about how competitive the market for photographers was or the ridiculous budgets and expectations she had to deal with from the swarm of amateurs and wannabes in the industry. But we quickly warmed up to each other and started to create amazing images and editorials together. More importantly, we became great friends. I had the pleasure to do this quick but informative interview with Laretta after she did an amazing shoot with actor Brock O’Hurn. JOYCE DARKOH: Tell us a little bit about yourself? LARETTA HOUSTON: I never really knew what I wanted to be when I was growing up. After getting
tired of working several odd jobs and getting tired of the pay, I decided to go back to school and get my degree in Multimedia and Web Design. Within a month after graduating, I landed a freelance job as a web designer and worked in the industry for six years, but I was still unsatisfied. I wanted more. So, during lunch and in my spare time, I decided to learn more about photography and digital cameras. I started shooting landscapes, miscellaneous rustic items and then portraits of people. Shooting portraits of people is how I started my journey as a beauty, fashion, lifestyle and advertising photographer.
VOL. 7 ISSUE 1
JD: How long have you been a photographer and what and who got you started in this profession? LH: I have been a photographer for ten years as of
April 1, 2010. I was working at a web design company, and one of my co-workers suggested I needed to shoot more. She mentioned, “I had an eye for it, and I was very creative. JD: What sort of work do you specialize? LH: Beauty, fashion, lifestyle, and advertising. JD: How do you describe your style? LH: Clean, sharp and bold.
JD: What type of camera(s) do you use and if you had to choose one lens, which one would it be and why? LH: Cameras - Canon 5DS R, Canon Mark III, and
Mamiya. Favorite Lens - 24-70mm and 85mm
JD: What has been your most memorable assignment so far? LH: My most memorable assignment was working on a
campaign for Off Broadway Shoes. It was a 4-day assignment, working with a large crew alongside a camera crew shooting a TV commercial. It was exhausting, but I was excited every day to wake up doing what I love.
JD: You recently moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles. Has this move influenced your work in any way (clients, images or assignments)? LH: I loved Atlanta and still do. But I wanted a new
journey, to meet different people and work with clients that I would have never had the opportunity to work with because I lived in Atlanta. I enjoy photography even more now that I have moved to Los Angeles and am working with clients that I wanted to work with for years. JD: Which photographer inspires you the most? LH: I have a few photographers that inspire me. They
JD: What lighting equipment do you take on a shoot? LH: Depending on the client and the assignment,
all shoot something different from beauty to fashion to advertising. One of my favorites is Annie Leibovitz. She is known for her unique lighting, bold colors and quirky poses of her subjects. Her aesthetic is simple, but it tells a story.
JD: How important is Photoshop in your final images? LH: Now that I have been a photographer for years, it
JD: What do you think of the photography industry now and where do you see it in 5 years from now? LH: I do not know exactly where it will be in 5 years,
Profoto would be my primary choice of lighting equipment.
is imperative to me to get it right while I am shooting. Considering my heavy workload, Photoshop has been very tedious for me in the last couple of years. Now, I try to get everything right, down to the smallest details before I shoot. The less time I have to retouch, the more time I can give to my clients and find work. JD: Where do you get your ideas and inspirations for your images? LH: Sometimes I find my inspirations from movies
and dreams I may have. I know it sounds funny, but I would wake up and start writing down everything I dreamt.
JD: What do you want people to see in your images? LH: A lot of my images are of people. It is very simple,
but it shows a lot of the personality of the subject I shoot. It makes you look at the image twice and wonder what my subject was thinking or how I got them to do a particular pose.
but I hope it does not come to where clients/people devalue photographers because of smartphone crowdsourcing image applications.
JD: How important is social media for you as a photographer? LH: Social media is critical when it comes to promot-
ing my brand. I still believe in word-of-mouth business, but social media gives entrepreneurs a platform to show how successful we are. It is a daily form of online advertising. ARTIST SPOTLIGHT
PALOMA RUSH
S
ome people have it all, great looks, great ambition and great talent. Paloma Rush is one of those elite few, but the singer/songwriter spent years in classical training to perfect her incredible chops. While growing up in Monterey, California, she was in and out of music projects including being a member of Bay Area-based EDM act the PJAYZ who went on to have moderate success with their debut EP and playing big festivals like the Vans Warped Tour before breaking up. Her talents did not go unnoticed as she was tapped to be the DJ for pop star Natalia Kills, touring nationally and growing her recognition. To get the musical recognition Paloma desired, she felt she needed to move to the City of Angels, La La Land, where she changed her name and started on a serious path towards her solo career – Meet PALOMA RUSH. >>

INTERVIEW

Paloma has teamed up with two-time Emmy-winning producer/composer Lars Deutsch, for her debut album. Their sound is a blend of pop, electronic and R&B with a live show that can include her playing acoustic trio or with a full band. The pair released Paloma’s debut song and sexy music video “Drive” in October 2016 to great reviews and feedback. She released “Roller Skates” this past May in hopes of reviving the roller-skating trend with its catchy pop lyrics and theme. She has played shows alongside The Far East Movement, Natalia Kills, and many others. She handles all of her own marketing and social sites, working in the trenches one-on-one with music lovers, as she feels this will help build a stronger fan base. Her songs have been featured on MTV's Real World, Bones, Keeping Up with the Kardashian’s, Bad Girls Club, and recently, So Cosmo. With a gifted voice, good songs and her drive and determination, we should see great things to come from Paloma Rush as she continues to dream big and strives for greatness. I recently had the chance to sit down and vibe with classically trained Singer/Songwriter Paloma Rush and learn more about her inspirations and aspirations in music and beyond… SASON BISHOPE PARRY: How has life been treating you? PALOMA RUSH: Great. A lot of work, but I have been
listening to some great remixes of my last single “Drive.”
SBP: You used to live in the Bay Area, but recently made a move to Los Angeles. Where did you grow up? PR: I was born in Monterey, California. We moved to
Mexico when I was seven. At age 15 I came back to graduate Monterey High and continue onto UC Santa Cruz. After UC Santa Cruz, I moved to San Jose for music. I moved to LA to play in the big league.
SBP: Tell us who Paloma Ramos and Paloma Rush are? PR: Paloma Ramos is my given name, and I’m very proud
of the name Ramos. But Rush has a bit more, “Pizazz.”
SBP: When did you get into music? PR: Started singing at age four, vocal and piano lessons at
age five, addicted at age 12. You never saw me far from the theater arts or music department growing up. I tried to play the flute, that didn’t work out so well. I liked to play the drums then and still do, but I just dabble. The piano lessons stuck, though. My voice, however, is my primary instrument.
SBP: Do you play any instruments? Do you write your own songs and lyrics? PR: Yes, piano. And yes, I write my own lyrics. I some-
times co-write with other songwriters, currently with my producer. I like to have a handle in the message of the song and how it’s delivered. Creative writing was my favorite subject in school.
VOL. 7 ISSUE 1
SBP: You have a great voice, have you had any training? What’s your practice and workout routine? Any vocal secrets to share? PR: Trained classically! Once you truly know how your
voice works and how powerful it can be, it’s true freedom. I love the classical sound, opera, and musical theater. After you learn real technique, you can stylize your vocals for a pop record.
SBP: Do you have any other talents or dreams you are trying to achieve? PR: I’d like to get better at snowboarding. I’d also play
more tennis, rollerblade, and hike more. As far as any other dreams, heck yeah. Acting in a movie or TV show would be amazing. And I’d love to be a guest on "Saturday Night Live."
SBP: Did you go to college? If you weren't making music what would you be doing? PR: I did. I studied psychology at the University of
California, Santa Cruz. I also spent a lot of time in the music department learning how to sing opera. I’m fascinated by the human mind, and I still read all kinds of books on psychology. If I weren't making music, I would have pursued a professional sport, become a language translator or pursue voice acting.
SBP: You used to be in an EDM style band, the PJAYZ and had some breakout success, what happened to that project? PR: Between different ideas and us being young this did
not work out as well as it could have. A lot of people heard our songs, though.
SBP: Are you a solo act now or do you perform with a band? PR: It is my name on the poster, but creatively it’s a part-
nership. I co-write all songs on this project with two-time Emmy-winning producer, Lars Deutsch. We also have a great band to play the songs live and a booking manager who is also doing a great job. SBP: What’s the best song you've ever written and what's it about? PR: “Roller Skates.” It’s got ridiculously catchy lyrics and
melody. I’m rather proud of myself..
SBP: What has the reaction been to your music video for “Drive” and what’s the song about? PR: With that song, I wanted to establish myself as a seri-
ous artist, with a serious song. Reactions to the videos have been great. Special thanks to Steffen, Alex, Tor, and Lars for getting that video so clean and polished. SBP: What style of music do you consider yourself? PR: Weird shit Lars and Paloma write.
SBP: Are you currently signed to a record company? PR: I have a deal with Built to Last Music. We are re-open
to the right partner/label, but as you can see, we can do great stuff on our own too.
SBP: Social media is huge for marketing, what do you use for exposure? Do you handle your own marketing? PR: YouTube, Spotify, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, you
name it. I handle most of my own marketing, and it’s a fulltime job. Lars helps a ton with it too. So do a number of his and my people.
SBP: Is it hard to be an aspiring attractive female singer in Los Angeles? PR: On one hand, it’s a world of opportunity, and on the
other, I watch very closely what people’s motivations are. Singing is my life. I live for music and writing songs. So, I need to set boundaries at times. SBP: What’s the biggest gig you've ever played? PR: I sang my original music at a show at the Grand
Regency Ballroom in SF for a huge event. So much fun. But I played much bigger stages on tour with Natalia and Robyn.
SBP: You used to be a background singer on tour for some prominent artists, tell us about that? PR: Not a background singer, but a DJ. I toured with
Natalia Kills and Robyn. Nationwide and Canada. Being the DJ for such an electric act was exciting.
SBP: Do you have any musical heroes and artists that inspire you? PR: Kurt Cobain for his rawness. Jim Morrison for his
trippy lyrics. Alanis Morissette for her strength. Sarah McLachlan for her voice. Madonna for her brazenness. Gwen Stefani for her style. Green Day for their songwriting. Red Hot Chili Peppers for their Cali swag. Sublime for being my college go-to. Dr. Dre for his beats that I used to flow to in high school with my friends. Mariah Carey for being one of the first singers I ever loved. Michael Jackson for his mastery. Steel Pulse and Common Kings for their vibe and most recently, Bishop Briggs, 21 Pilots, and Halsey. SBP: Tell us something personal about yourself that nobody knows? PR: I love dogs. I will pet your dog on the street if it’s cute.
I may squeal and take a long while to pet it. They’re just so freaking cute! SBP: Do you have any signature style or fashion look? PR: I like a lot of retro things, shiny things, fancy things
meet urban things.
SBP: What’s next for Paloma Rush? PR: The release of "Roller Skates" music video, then the
album, and then Pinky, the world. ◆

DESIGNER DREAMS “In reality, before I became a designer, I was MaCavity in the Broadway play “Cats” for three years. I have a recurring dream that I am getting my makeup done in the dressing room. I haven’t even started to put on my costume when the overture begins. To enter the stage, I used to come out of a tunnel from underneath the floor. In the dream, I am entering the tunnel which leads to another hallway which leads to another tunnel and another. When I finally get on stage I don’t remember any of the choreography and I realize that I’m not even dressed. That’s when I awaken in a panic. Please decode this dream.” —Frederick Anderson, Manhattan, New York
086
THE INTERPRETATION WRITTEN BY: LAUREN LAWRENCE An actor’s nightmare involves the forgetting of lines, the changing of scripts, wearing the wrong costume or any other event that would serve to ruin a presentation. Anxiety is over not being able to perform. One understands the worry derived from the demanding task of putting oneself under the public spotlight. Necessarily, this type dream is often dreamt before an appearance is to take place, or when task completion is expected from the dreamer. Because there is fear of being caught off guard or unprepared, the focus is on preparedness. In this view, Frederick’s dream reveals conscientiousness and the wish to fulfill any responsibility [not just a performance]. Above all else, is the wish to meet and excel expectations. As a form of defense, the dream recurs to maintain a state of perpetual readiness. Anxiety is experienced in order to master a fearful situation and not be taken unawares. As such, these are the dreams of perfectionists who want to ensure that everything goes as planned. The tunnels represent the unconscious—what is beneath the surface. Stepping onto a stage signifies a desire for self-presentation. There is also the aspiration to rise to another level of awareness, a higher realm of consciousness, where not being dressed reveals vulnerability but also the wish to be free of restraints. ◆

SECRET LIFE OFA CHEF
INTERVIEW WITH CHEF
JOHN DOHERTY BY ELISABETH THIERIOT
VOL. 7 ISSUE 1
CHEF JOHN DOHERTY SPENT MANY YEARS AS THE EXECUTIVE CHEF OF THE WALDORF ASTORIA NEW YORK. Although everyday was hectic but others brought excitement, intrigue, secrecy and long term friendships. Some of his experiences that happened behind closed doors included encounters with world leaders and presidents.
089 ELISABETH THIERIOT: When was your first solo dinner as the chef to a president? CHEF JOHN DOHERTY: When you say chef, I think chef in charge, not sous chef. That said,
my first solo dinner was when I was the Executive Chef at the Waldorf Astoria. It was perhaps the most meaningful, thrilling and honorable moment in my career meeting President Ronald Reagan for the first time after preparing dinner for him and the other six world leaders at the time including President Francois Mitterand, Chancellor Helmut Kohl, and Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher Brian Mulroney, Bettino Craxi, and Yasuhiro Nakasone at the United Nations 40th Anniversary in 1985. ET: Who recommended you to be the chef of choice for President Reagan? CJD: No one, the president was staying at the Waldorf Astoria, and the expectation was that
the Executive Chef would prepare the meal.
ET: Can you tell us any favorite foods of the different presidents you have served and their wives? CJD: There are lots of good stories here, but I will give you a general breakdown on the
favorite food palettes of a few presidents: President Ronald Reagan - Classic; President George H.W. Bush – Eclectic; President George W. Bush - American Regional; and President Bill Clinton - Anything. >>

VOL. 7 ISSUE 1
An interesting story about former First Lady Nancy Reagan is she would always proof the menu ahead of time and often request changes for President Regan in order to maintain a healthy diet. For example, one time he had potatoes at lunch at the United Nations and there were also potatoes on the dinner menu at the Waldorf, thus we had to make a change. ET: Will you cook for President Trump too? CJD: Probably. ET: What was the most memorable presidential meal you prepared? CJD: It was when the two major world pow-
ers Russia and USA sat at the same table for the first time in many years. (I’m not sure if the wall came down before or after this meeting). What was surprising to see, only happened after crossing all the security checkpoints, and finally arriving on Governors Island. As we pulled up to the house where the lunch was to take place, all the US secret service agents were on the left side of the house and all the Russian Secret service on the right. Helicopters above, military boats circling the island. The most intense security I had ever seen. We set up in the kitchen right next to the dining room, and we turned on the TV. Every channel was showing our event, and we couldn’t help but feel that we were at the center of the earth. In a small way, we were part of history. It was humbling and an honor to be part of that day. ET: How did you end up falling in love with food? CJD: I quickly learned that food is a great way to share
with others and make them happy.
ET: Can you prepare different ethnic meals? CJD: At the Waldorf, we often had to cook different
ethnic foods. It took a bit of research and some help from a staff member from that country, but we got it done. I can't claim to be an expert on diverse ethnic cooking, but I can get by putting a delicious meal together.
ET: Your favorite food style? CJD: French or Italian. Braised, roasted, or anything
with Truffles. Simple with depth of flavor and complexity by using spices, vinegar, herbs
ET: What restaurant do have you have currently, and what is your dream for the future? CJD: My immediate goal is for Black Barn to reach its
full potential and sustain itself over time. I will entertain other opportunities as they present themselves. ET: Does your family travel with you on assignment? CJD: right now I focus all of my time and energy on
Black Barn but when the time comes to travel for work, sharing that experience together would be great. ET: What are the joys of your life? CJD: My wife, my children, food, the ocean, nature,
espresso, Europe, music, aged Scotch, Champagne, and French wine. ET: Places you want to visit for the culinary experience and culture? CJD: India and Mexico. ET: Your favorite place in the world? CJD: New York City.
ET: Who do you most respect in your life? CJD: I can't say that I have any one most respected
person, but I am moved and humbled by veterans and soldiers. The courage and character that it takes to risk your life blows my mind and is worthy of all my respect. >>

Black Barn has quickly become one of the hottest kitchens in NoMad’s gastronomic meccas! With a keen desire to focus on quality ingredients sourced from local purveyors, owner Chef John Doherty opened the restaurant on September 17th of 2015 with childhood friend Tom Struzzieri. “I wanted to redefine luxury as I once knew it. Luxury isn’t opulence, it’s the feeling you have when your expectations have been exceeded by something extraordinary.” – Chef John Doherty
Black Barn is an American restaurant. Serving local, artisanal food, in the comfort of a space reminiscent of a modern barn where seasonal, rustic fare meets a farmhouse atmosphere. The interior was created by friend and acclaimed designer Mark Zeff and inspired by his barn-likehome in the Hamptons. Chef Doherty comes with an impressive background which includes a 30-year legacy as the Executive Chef at the Waldorf Astoria, their 4 restaurants, and all of their catering. Throughout the years he has cooked for more Kings, Presidents, and Heads of State, than any other chef. MILLIE COOPER
INTERVIEW
VOL. 7 ISSUE 1
ALENTED, STRONG, UNEXPECTED, REAL, QUIET, SHY, DRIVEN AND EMPOWERING ARE SOME OF THE WORDS I WOULD USE TO DESCRIBE FOUNDER AND EDITOR IN CHIEF OF MILLIONAIR MILLIE COOPER. IT WAS ONLY LOGICAL THAT AFTER THE SUCCESS AND GROWTH OF MILLIONAIR WORLDWIDE OVER THE LAST YEAR, WE INTERVIEWED THE WOMAN THAT STARTED IT ALL. Meeting Millie was a breath of fresh air. It is great to see a woman so passionate about what she does and believes in. She is a big supporter of the inspirational and empowerment movement and wants her readers to feel the stories she shares. So, let's get to know Millie and how MilliOnAir was born. ELISE QUEVEDO: Who is this Millie Cooper we keep seeing all over the social media world? MILLIE COOPER: Thank you, Elise, for your kind words.
Well I am forty-six years young, loving life, even with all the ups and downs and crazy struggles. A complete globe trotter, race driver, beach lover, social media addict, an artist (who sold her art to Hollywood A lister) and a lover of all things positive.
EQ: What inspires you? What makes you wake up each morning and say let's do this?! MC: I inspire myself a lot of the time, but others who have

my friends, the people, the beaches, the relaxed living and the cute boutiques. Oh, and Taverna Tony’s! Delicious food! EQ: The other day we were talking about the inspirational and empowerment movement, what do you love about it? MC: I love to hear or read about real life success stories and
the inspirational people out there. I love all the struggles and the heartache and then the success, it makes me feel like I can do this. “Anything is possible; I’m possible.” EQ: So, Millie, how did MilliOnAir get started? MC: My idea and creation came to me on a thirteen-hour
flight, 35,000 feet up in the air with a light bulb moment. An online, interactive magazine full of real, inspirational people some you may know, some you may not know, but I wanted to showcase the people behind the brands, behind the art, behind the music, etc. The reason I called it MilliOnAir…well me, Millie, and being 35,000 feet up in the air. Or “On the Air!” “Milli On Air.”
achieved their goals in life influence and inspire me. Also, I love reading all my social media messages and wonderful comments from my readers and followers...that is what truly gets me going every day. Additionally, the people who are close to me who see my vision and believe in me that support inspires me as well.
095
EQ: Tell us something most people don't know about you? MC: I am a qualified plumber. I also gained an ARDS
license. (Google it if you don’t know!)
Video advertising is the way I am going with MilliOnAir Global. EQ: If you had not started this MilliOnAir, what would you be doing now? MC: I trained to become a plumber years ago. So, plumb-
ing would be my second choice, but running my own women’s plumbing business with me overseeing all the work so I wouldn’t get my nails chipped! Eat your heart out Charlie Mullins OBE. EQ: How do you relax Millie? How do you switch off from the busy life of running a successful business? MC: I don’t get to relax that much but when I do it’s nor-
mally on a beach whatever the weather or in a bath surrounded by candles with no sound at all…I then just switch off completely from the world and take time out… #Bliss.
EQ: I love the idea of a magazine that not only covers celebrities and luxury but also real inspirational stories that people can relate to. What made you create that mix? MC: It is all do to with how I am and how I live and see the
world today. Talented people inspire me; I buy from people, I want to know their success stories, their struggles, their downfalls and then their mission to make it in the world. I love all that, and that’s what I wanted to put across in the magazine. I love luxury brands, but I also love ethical brands, the brands that are making a difference in the world. >>
HAUTE
INTERVIEW
EQ: Who is MilliOnAir’s audience?
MC: I would say it varies, but I like to think, young and older, dynamic, entrepreneurs with a vision for the future. EQ: Name a few of your dream brands? And why? MC: Gosh there are so many out there that I love but off
the top of my head…Virgin Galactic due to the fact I have followed them ever since I read an article in Vogue many moons ago, I think in 2004! Rolls Royce cars of course; in my eyes, no other car comes close to the luxury or beauty of the Double R brand and I have been lucky enough to drive the Dawn a few times. Also, the Four Seasons Hotels. When I am not happy with the hotel I am staying in; my little motto is "it's just not the Four Seasons." EQ: Name a few of your dream cover stories? And why? MC: Michelle Mone, again she has a story, I love every-
thing she does, and I have followed her journey for years, she is a true inspiration. Gary Vaynerchuk, he is so NOW, the man of our times and it seems everything he says or thinks is exactly how I think. Tom Cruise, he has success and inspiration oozing out of him, and I just think he is a nice guy plus I love all his movies. Theresa May, especially because of her love of shoes and it is quite widely known that I love shoes. “This is not something that defines me as either a woman or a politician, but it has come to define me in the eyes of the newspapers. I wore a pair of leopardprint kitten heels to a Conservative Party Conference a few years ago, and the papers have continued to focus on my feet ever since.”
096
EQ: How do you think the digital world and the internet have changed the way online readers get captivated? MC: I think it is the usual thing, people like to look at
crisp, clean, shiny, pretty things and now more so online and with videos. This is part of the reason I started my magazine, as I wanted to read an online magazine on the go on my iPad. Every time I traveled I would buy a whole bunch of magazines and then leave them for someone else to read when I had finished! With an online interactive magazine, it’s with me for life!
EQ: Do you ever take a moment to see how far MilliOnAir has come? To what do you attribute the rapid growth in readership worldwide? MC: Yes, I always like my little moments to look back in
wonder at all the amazing things that I have achieved, a couple of bad things but you must move on from those very quickly. As they say bad leads to good or in my case amazing things and I have ended up with a really strong team now. Social media is the name of this wonderful game, and we push ourselves out there like crazy, again it is something we really enjoy working on. “Anything is possible.” EQ: You have now expanded into the PR world under the MilliOnAir brand. Can you tell us more about the services provided? MC: Along with the team, we look after start-ups as well as
established businesses. We are passionate about getting Brands seen and heard around the world, and we are connected to some of the top brands and celebrities around the world. (www.millionair-pr.com) EQ: What advice do you have for anyone who wants to start something new but is afraid to do so? MC: I would say go with what you love doing if you have a
passion for something try and turn that into a business. I love creating, I have created art for celebrities, I have designed many many websites over the years, looked after UHNWI and managed social media accounts. I turned all of that into MilliOnAir Online Interactive Magazine and have never looked back. I love working my passion every single day. EQ: Can you give us any top-secret information of what's to come over the next issues of MilliOnAir? MC: There will be a lot more video content, video advertis-
ing, and video interviews, a lot more interaction in the magazine as well as very influential individuals and plenty more inspirational Hollywood stars. ◆
EQ: Since this new journey begun, what would you say has been the most challenging moment so far? MC: The most challenging moments at first was trying to
create and work on everything by myself and get it out there in the big wide world. I still produce 60% of the content, but now I have a beautiful team with me. EQ: And most rewarding? MC: All the wonderful cover stars so far, seeing my maga-
zine at London City Airport private lounge, the people believing in me and celebrating one year of MilliOnAir Magazine with my team. We all went to the new NED 5star hotel in London, had some amazing treats in Millie’s lounge and spent the rest of the weekend being pampered in the spa! Very rewarding indeed!
Thank you, Millie! I look forward to doing a catch up later in the year. So, readers, if you have not shared MilliOnAir with the world yet, what are you waiting for? Let's keep it real, Elise Quevedo

Luckily, it has never been easier to erase these effects, regardless of how you spend your nights, your eyes will tell a different story. Just a drop of Replete's Eye Restore before heading to sleep, and by the next morning, the usual suspects won’t be there to greet you in the mirror. No more puffiness or swollen lines around your eyes. This is just the beginning of the benefits you’ll notice by adding Eye Restore to your nightly skin care routine. There’s more. As a daytime moisturizer, Replete's Eye Restore can be applied in small amounts on the lower lid, just enough to glaze over the skin, creating a radiant daytime glow to your eyes while working to erase the appearance of lines.

ROMANTIC IDEALISM
NOUVEAU
WRITTEN BY: JASON MARTINEAU
VOL. 7 ISSUE 1
T
oday I read an interesting opinion piece in the New York Times entitled “Why You Will Marry the Wrong Person”. The author takes a rather pessimistic tone overall, citing all of the wrong reasons we get together with people, and all of the wrong reasons why we leave them (or why they leave us). It focuses largely upon loneliness, projections, and how we don’t show our true selves to people until long after we’ve become involved. It’s all premised on the notion that we idealize love as an eternal salve that will ultimately and invariably assist us in dealing with our most nagging deficiencies and insecurities, the worst of which being isolation and existential desperation. Sounds rough! Further, the author suggests we basically don’t really know anyone at all for quite some time, certainly not before we might agree to marry them, and we have no hope in being able to predict what life will be like with that person in two, five, or ten years from now. We likely don’t even know what we, ourselves will be like in that amount of time! After a somewhat dismal picture is successfully portrayed, he then attempts to give us hope by prompting us to stay with the challenge, and that by and large there are generally few reasons to call it quits with someone. In the end, it’s just a question of which kind of crazy you are willing to put up with. Essentially, according to this article, we are all pursuing infantile fantasies of perfection and oceanic bliss with someone by trying to reproduce some memory of a childhood joy state into eternity, and when our partner fails us in this task, we are increasingly willing to throw them away, thinking that somewhere, somehow, there will be someone better. One of the final takeaways is “Compatibility is an achievement of love; it must not be its precondition.” Now there’s a novel thought! I take just a couple issues with this article — one being that the “marriage of feeling” as the author terms it, stems from 19th-century Romanticism. The bigger picture is that contemporary Western love ideals go back to the late Medieval era — the time of Meistersingers and Troubadours, when Love of the Eye and Heart was elevated and exalted to such a level that unrequited love itself was considered its purest and holiest incarnation. True love was a religion unto itself. This was the first pivotal and decisive break from the arranged marriage model in Western history, and along with it came the birth of the notions of obstacles, being star-crossed and ill-fated, and that love can only be fully consummated in death, and all of that other fun and hopeful stuff. A messy merger of lust with projection, made famous by Tristan and Iseult, and later, Romeo and Juliet (the same story, essentially). Romantic movies stir us to warm tears when the lovers
appear to finally transcend these seemingly inevitable pitfalls. Love tragedies move us in more or less the same way, though we tend to walk away shaking our heads with a more fatalistic feeling. The whole thing is really a metaphor, however, for how to deal with love for another within ourselves; because inevitably, as with marriage, genuine love is a rite of passage. We must learn to become larger, to care not only for ourselves, but also for someone else, and for the relationship we share, together, with them. The “death” here is not a physical death, but the death of the ego, the separate self-sense, the small “I”, so that we can be reborn to the new orientation which now includes three and not just one. Modern entitlement, coupled with wanderlust, cyber-everyone-everywhere-now, and the idea of something always better waiting around the corner, gives way to much of the conflicts and challenges in sustaining love relationships in contemporary society. But love itself has not changed much in all this time. We are still human beings with feelings, longing to connect, share, understand, and be understood. The other issue I have with the article is that it assumes we are all motivated mostly out of deficiency needs — we’re lonely, we’re afraid, we’re broken, or we have a childhood trauma that we have to heal with someone. While those are indeed sometimes factors that push people around and into each other, I think it’s an incomplete picture, and doesn’t take into account that sometimes people genuinely do get along, enjoy each other, feel good connecting with each other, and have basic attraction for one another (in heart, body, and mind). Whether they can sustain it, get through the honeymoon phase, and so on, this is another question, but I don’t subscribe to the model that we are all desperately lonely and connecting with people solely on those grounds. Arranged marriages are not a failed model, though they may seem unromantic to modern Westerners. Much of the world still gets on in this manner, and the many couples I’ve spoken to who met in this way, do speak of a strong love for each other that developed over time. I’m sure there are marriages of that type that don’t end well, but I suspect not any more so than ones rooted in romanticism and attraction. With a failure rate of the romantic approach being about 50/50, it is difficult to say what the ideal model is. Probably there isn’t one. Those odds are as good as a coin toss. After the age of pluralism and moral relativism, what’s next? Indeed we all must find our unique experience of love, from the inside. We must learn to be honest with ourselves, know ourselves, and it is fair to say, take time to get to know those with whom we might be willing to spend our lives. The best romantic idealism doesn’t come from a famous story, a movie, nor an article. It comes from you… ◆

“I just thought I’d let you know there was a little depth to be found; and sometimes it is easier to write how you feel than to talk about it—it would just be embarrassing.” — Phil (Philip) B. Laird, 11:45 p.m., 3/19/68
And so, they go to write home just as the author of this book and Stanford University alumni Alison Carpenter Davis did. After much anticipation, Alison and I began our interview by talking about her reasons for writing Letters Home from Stanford. The book is filled with memoirs of so many students and life stories that developed while at Stanford University and away from home. We spoke about how many freshmen arrived ready to embrace new and exciting adventures of learning and developing into the adult form, while others simply were filled with fear of disconnecting from their families. We shared our disbelief in how many have this vision that top universities only house the brave and bold students - forgetting how human we can be inside, no matter our background, and how we live our moments through our level of readiness for life, not the status of university standards. Alison recognized the joys and agony of the human spirit in letters students wrote home. She embraced their emotions with much respect and some humor. Some of them got emotionally naked in their letters, while some hid what truly was going on for them internally at the school. As Alison said, many of the letters ask for money and few ask for visits. Others share the academic failures that students found difficult to discuss on the phone or in person. Bravery was reserved for writing bad-news letters. The fragile-ego letters were reserved for disclosure at a distance from the direct anger of their parents when informing them of failure in academics or being expelled from school on disciplinary bases. Her keen observations about how students handled their years away from home provide great insights into our generations. The relationships with family members have somewhat maintained their boundaries through the years. We probably have expected for them to change given the social media access, yet parents and siblings continue to have certain expectations of each other on a more timeless platform. The book covers more than a century of correspondence — from telegrams and letters to emails and then text messages. Time was passing for each student in a different way. Each of them was striving to reach out for their emotional goals from a different place of readiness to become an adult on their own. To many, homelife was a source of safety they depended on through their school years. Others walked into independence with joy, grateful for being in control of their destiny, with bold, steady steps, never looking back. The book grasps the moments of transition and growing pains away from the safety of home, where life was predictable and stable. Not all students were ready for this journey away from the familiar, and Alison captured their feelings and emotions in perfect excerpts. A must read for every parent and soon-to-be student away from home. Letters Home from Stanford will help both make the right choices for what may come their way. ◆

TRANSGENDER MARRIAGE
NOUVEAU INTERVIEW
W 106
e live in exciting
times where awareness and acceptability of our true gender have gained the needed momentum. Now the doors are open to cross the threshold of the decision, to be one person in body, mind, and spirit. The world recently watched Caitlyn Jenner emerge, with the full blessing of the media and mixed reviews from the greater population. Is this teaching us about being progressive, accepting or is it about love? I read the book "Housewife: Home-remaking in a Transgender Marriage" by Kristin K. Collier and had the opportunity to interview her about her life. Here is what I have learned through her journey from a conventional marriage to transgender marriage. Kristin and Seda have been married for thirteen years, three of which they have spent in therapy working through Seda's identity challenges, hoping that is was just that. Next Kristin suggested that her husband first should try how it feels to be in women’s clothes in the privacy of their home only. In secret, she was hoping it would be awkward for him, and he would return to being comfortable as the man she married. Maturing into life has its own timing, but it does not mean that our partners are part of that timetable or on the same timeline. That is where things get complicated, and everyone gets hurt, for a while or a lifetime. Kristin was in a state of fear that her entire world was collapsing when she watched her husband across the yard working at his desk behind the cottage window wearing women’s clothes. She wondered about how the children will deal with losing their father as they knew him. How would the chil-
SHE WONDERED ABOUT HOW THE CHILDREN WILL DEAL WITH LOSING THEIR FATHER AS THEY KNEW HIM. HOW WOULD THE CHILDREN BE TREATED AT SCHOOL BY OTHERS?”
dren be treated at school by others? All these questions kept creeping into her mind and torturing her with the worst outcomes. She would close her eyes to make them go away and just for a moment pretend all was back to normal. Kristin would spend many hours in her garden creating beautiful, abundant harvests for her family; it was her form of meditation and a place to process the change that was going on in her life. No matter how important her identity was as a mother and wife, she did not want to make a major decision about her marriage in the state of confusion. At the year mark of this trial period, Seda decided for certain that being a woman was her true identity and continuing to live as a man would not be true to herself. The family decision was to inform their children and brace for a negative reaction. The steps they took to prepare their kids for the upcoming changes in their family are best described in her book. The children's response to their father's transition is priceless. A testament to that a happy home can be maintained regardless of a parent’s gender if love is genuine. An honest and open line of communication that is supported by consideration and kindness allows children the chance to adapt and accept without fear. If there were ever a heart touching story of love and family commitment to stay and nurture each other, this would be the one. It will open your eyes and your heart to love. “Housewife: Home-remaking in a Transgender Marriage” by Kristin K. Collier is available at Barnes and Noble for your enjoyment and growth as an evolved human. ◆

GREEN LIFE

I HAVE TRAVELED TO FRANCE TO CATCH UP WITH PROFESSIONAL GREEN BUILDER AND REAL ESTATE BROKER, THOMAS NEECE OF THE GREEN KEY REAL ESTATE COMPANY. THROUGH OUR PREVIOUS CONVERSATIONS, I HAVE COME TO REALIZE HOW LITTLE IS KNOWN ABOUT THE CHOICES WE HAVE TO CREATE AN ECO-SAFE GREEN LIFE THAT IS SUSTAINABLE TO US, OUR ENVIRONMENT AND EVERYONE AROUND US.
VOL. 7 ISSUE 1
FSHN Interview with
THOMAS NEECE By ELISABETH THIERIOT
ELISABETH THIERIOT: WHEN AND WHERE DID YOU FORM GREEN KEY REAL ESTATE COMPANY? THOMAS NEECE: It was eight years
ago, in San Francisco, California when my partners and I realized the amounts of waste in the real estate business office protocol. It required multiple copies of waivers for asbestos toxic agents and contracts printed on none recycled paper, that should be done digitally. Progression of this new realization was that homes needed to be upgraded to a sustainable format that included a healthy indoor environment in living and work spaces. ET: DID YOU CREATE NEW PROTOCOLS FOR YOUR GREEN OFFICE AND STAFF PERFORMANCE? TN: Absolutely! We pioneered paper-
less transactions allowing the use of digital signatures. We only allowed recycled office materials (e.g. pens, papers, ink cartridges, etc.) with appropriate recycling stations for them as well. Additionally, we encouraged our sales force to use public transportation and use of hybrid vehicles when not working from home. ET: YOU HAVE MENTIONED JUST A MINUTE AGO, THE PIONEERING OF THE MOVE-
MENT, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT. TN: Simply put, Green Key Real
Estate Company, was the first certified green real estate company in the world. Since at that time there was no such a thing as a green real estate certification, the San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom created the first green real estate business certification based on our model of operations and awarded it to us. This was the beginning of the green real estate movement. That is what I mean by pioneering. Since then, many other brokers adopted our model of conducting real estate business.
ET: HOW MANY AGENTS DO GREEN KEY REAL ESTATE COMPANY HAVE NOW AND WHAT MAKES THEM DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS? TN: We currently employ twenty
active real estate agents in California. Our agents are certified as Eco Brokers and Green Building professionals. Our agents have extra knowledge coming from continuing education to help home buyers to convert standard homes into eco-green sustainable healthy living spaces. When our clients are ready to sell their home, our agents guide the seller on how to improve their home to be more desirable with green upgrades to achieve a faster sale.
ET: THOMAS, WHAT ARE SOME OF THE GREEN IDEAS YOUR AGENTS CAN OFFER TO YOUR CLIENTS? TN: It depends on the client’s needs.
Mostly, clients think of solar energy as being green, but that is only a small part of having a green lifestyle. Other major game changers are your choice of paint, insulation, windows, flooring, cabinets and their surfaces. For example, some stones, such as granite are radioactive and cause respiratory complications, even cancer in residents. Another concern is paint, which can
emit toxic fumes for a year after applied to the walls or cabinets and can be easily be replaced with non-VOC paints, leading to healthy air at home. ET: WHERE DO YOU SEE THE GREEN KEY REAL ESTATE COMPANY GOING FROM HERE? TN: My partner Erica Jennings and I
have a very clear direction for our future. We want to provide real estate inventory that is earthquake proof, fire resistant and hurricane solid. Buildings that do not hold mold or mildew, pests nor termites, and can stands a thousand or more years in the current environment. ET: HOW DO YOU BOTH INTEND TO CREATE THIS INVENTORY? TN: We are ready to create this inven-
tory by building them with new materials, or renovating old commercial and residential buildings with green sustainable principals, especially in disaster areas to prevent repeating of past failures, leading to total loss of possessions accumulated from lifetime or work. ET: After this interview, I see that
when Green Key Real Estate Company gives you a key to your new home it is not just a key, but a complete foundation to a green sustainable life! Please look for future tips from Green Key Real Estate Company on how to turn your inside living green. You can see the progress building green homes www.GreenKeyRealEstate.com.

MUSIC BEATZ WRITTEN BY: SASON BISHOPE PARRY
Hello everyone. Welcome to the newest edition of MusicBeatz. With the end of an epic summer, let’s take a moment to look back and reminisce all of the outdoor music festivals, concerts and sunny good vibes we had these past few months. Some of my favorite new releases were by Depeche Mode, Roger Waters, Linkin Park, Gorillaz, Dead Mau5, Rag ‘n’ Bones Man, Snoop Dogg, The Chainsmokers, Ed Sheeran, DJ Khalid, Flume, Future Islands, Kendrick Lamar, Little Dragon, Greenday and more… 110
In music news, rock legends Pink Floyd’s album “The Wall,” arguably the best rock album of all time, got an opera to match; almost forty years since its groundbreaking release in 1979. The world premiere of “Another Brick In The Wall: L’Opera” had the entire sold-out audience on its feet back in March for a ten minute standing ovation midway through the performance. The event took place at the Opera De Montreal with Floyd’s main prolific songwriter, Roger Waters in attendance! “It was a remarkable moment” said Waters, who recalls having found inspiration to write the legendary album in Montreal. The opera got another standing ovation at the end when the wall came crashing down, solidifying its successful launch and many encore performances worldwide. This all came at a good time for Roger Waters, as he had also just released his first rock album in twenty-five years, which received rave reviews instantly. In event news, BottleRock Napa hit its groove with a pre-sell out year. It was their best edition to date; including sets by the Foo Fighters, Maroon 5, Macklemore & Lewis to name a few. Outside Lands Music Festival celebrated its 10th anniversary with stellar performances by superstars like The Who, Gorillaz, Metallica, Cage the Elephant, Royal Blood and Future Islands. In other event news, rock icons U2 made its first U.S. festival appearance as they topped the bill at Bonnaroo Music Festival. This year marked the 30th anniversary of U2’s classic album, Joshua Tree and that appearance was a part of their tour where they performed the entire album in sequence.

You have innate luck with money and investments. When you get a hunch, trust it. Your optimism and intuition allow you to see possibilities where others don’t. > Bringing back what is sorely lacking today, Lauren Lawrence and Leesa Rowland hosted a “Ladies Who Lunch Luncheonâ€? on Tuesday, September 17,
at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City in the exquisitely appointed Astor Court, named after the grand doyenne of American Society, Brooke Astor. Whereas lunch in the Eighties was de rigueur, it is not so now, unfortunately. For in these challenging times, there is nothing more nourishing for the body, mind and soul than to eat with a group of supportive women friends. Adding to the six scintillating chandeliers in the room, Carolyne Roehm, Muffie Potter Aston, Patricia Kluge, Iris Cantor, Lauren Lawrence, Leesa Rowland and Sharon Bush shared their own charitable bright light and briefly brought back civility, charm, elegance and heartfelt conversations that empower women one lunch at a time. Perhaps we will see more of these ladies in the future.
