It is my great pleasure and honor to serve as YOUR Family and Morale, Welfare & Recreation (FMWR) Director at Fort Wainwright. Our goals in FY10 were to bring our customers enhanced programming and take care of your Families, while staying within the budget and guidelines of the Army. The BEAR in review was developed to give you a “stock holders” report of what was actually accomplished within the FMWR programs and a greater understanding of who we are. We consider each customer (Soldier, Civilian, Retiree or Family Member) a stock holder. Each dollar of profit in Fort Wainwright FMWR programs is reinvested here in our organization to provide better service and more modern facilities for you. The following pages will give you a view of what was accomplished in the way of programming, how many customers were served and where the improvements are being made. Many of the new programs were developed based on suggestions from you, our customers. Each and every ICE comment card is reviewed by me. The FMWR staff has also worked this year to develop various partnerships with businesses and organizations of Fairbanks and Seward, leading to enhanced events for you. We thank each and every one of you for your continued support and look forward to an amazing 2011. As you travel throughout the world I encourage you to make FMWR your “First Choice”. Mary Jo “MJ” Lohrenz Director, FMWR
