UNIT SKEET SHOOTARMY VS. AIR FORCE: 1200-1800, cost: $20/team Compete to reclaim the traveling trophy rights. Unit teams: 5 members to shoot one round of skeet each. Ammo may be purchased if needed. No fee for a shoot-off round if one is needed. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams will receive medals: Team (Army vs. Air Force) with the best combined score takes the trophy to be displayed at their skeet range. Winning teams will be announced at 1900. The first 6 teams to register and compete will receive March Madness t-shirts.
OPEN SKEET: 1200-2000 Open to all (Soldiers, Families, Retirees and DoD Civilians). Regular rates apply. HUMAN BOWLING: 1230-1330, NO COST Steer an inner tube down the lanes, knocking down as many blow-up pins at the bottom. Scoring will be judged using bowling frames. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive medals. The first 30 competitors to sign up and compete will receive a March Madness t-shirt. TACTICAL BOBSLEDDING: 1400-1500, NO COST Using materials of your choice, construct a sledding device that resembles a tactical vehicle. Your 3-member team will race the craft down the tube hill lanes. Scoring will be based on
race time and uniqueness of the sled design. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive medals. The first 8 teams to register and compete will receive March Madness t-shirts. TUBE HILL OPEN: 1600-2000, regular rates apply STORY TIME: 1600-1800, NO COST Library staff to conduct story time in front of the lodge fireplace. BONFIRE: 1800-2000, NO COST. BIG AIR CHALLENGE: 1230-1400, cost is included with the purchase of daily lift ticket, or use of season pass. Skiers and Snowboarders take to the air in this competition to see who can fly the highest! Timed event, broken
into categories: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category will receive medals. The first 30 racers to register and compete will receive March Madness t-shirts. RAIL JAM: 1500-1700, cost is included with the purchase of daily lift ticket, or use of season pass. Skiers and snowboarders will compete to see who has the best park tricks. Competitors will be broken into categories for beginner, intermediate, and advanced. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category will receive medals. SNOW SURF: 1600-1800, Cost is included with the purchase of daily lift ticket, or use of season pass. Ski or snowboard across an ice-water pond that’s at least 65’ in length! Go the distance, attempting to make it across, or plunge in for a great splash! Don’t forget to bring extra clothes! The first 30 to register and compete will receive March Madness t-shirts.
POLAR PLUNGE: 1830 (Approximate): NO COST. Immediately following the TugO-War competition, the first 30 competitors signed up may take a dip into the icy water pond. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals will be awarded to the final 3 participants who remain in the water the longest. Certificates and March Madness t-shirts will be awarded to first 20 participants who have signed up prior to the competition. BONFIRE: 1800-2000, NO COST. This event open to all participants.
ICE MAN’S TUG-O-WAR 1800 (approximate), NO COST. As soon as the last snow surfer reaches the end of the water pit, we will bring out the ropes and let the war begin! 3/15, 0700-1800 Cost: $25/person Experience Alaska in a whole new way; by learning to ice climb with us on frozen waterfalls! No experience needed, our guides will have you swinging ice tools and kicking crampons right up these frozen pillars in no time! We provide all equipment. 3/16, 0900 and 1300 No cost. For ages 18+ Participants will be issued a Snowmachine Safety Card at the conclusion of the course. This class is required to rent snowmachines from the Outdoor Recreation Center.

ALYESKA SKI/ SNOWBOARDING TRIP
3/22-24, departs from ORC 3/22 at 1700. Cost: $200/person. Join us as we venture south in search of the famous Chugach powder at Alyeska Resort. Alyeska is a world class ski/ snowboard destination that has an average of almost 650 inches of snow a year! We provide transportation, lodging and a lift ticket. You provide your own food, ski/snowboard gear (bring your own or rent), and warm clothes. You don’t want to miss these trips so sign up today!
NORTHERN EXPOSURE
3/23, 30; 0800-1700 Cost: $115/person Ages: 12+ ½ day of mushing + ½ day of snowmachining all in one day.
Half the participants will be engaged in dog mushing under the supervision of the Northern Sky Lodge Staff while the other half will make a snowmachine run to the Tanana Flats and back with the ODR staff. The participants will then switch programs for the second half of the day. If the temps drop below -10 degrees we will try to postpone to a warmer day. Northern Sky Lodge will provide sleds, dog teams and instructions. Outdoor Recreation will provide transportation, snowmachines, helmets.
FAMILY ICE FISHING
3/30, 1000-1600 Cost: $20/person (kids under age 16 fish free) An Alaska State Fishing License is required for anyone age 16+ Spend the day on Chena Lake fishing, drinking hot chocolate and enjoying the great outdoors. We will provide transportation, rod & reel, bait, and hot chocolate. You bring your lunch, snacks, water, and cold weather clothing.
WHITE MOUNTAINS SNOWMACHINE 4/6, 0800 Cost: $75 per driver (must be 18+), $10 passenger Take a snowmachine run with the Outdoor Recreation Team to the vast and beautiful White Mountains National Recreation Area. ORC provides transportation, snowmachine and helmet. You provide a lunch, snacks, beverages and cold weather clothing.

4/6, 10001500 Cost: $5/person Ladies, here is your chance to hit the trails and enjoy the last bit of Alaskan winter before the snow melts. No previous experience necessary. We will provide the equipment and transportation. Make sure you bring warm clothes, water and a snack.
GEOCACHING 101
4/14, 1300 No cost. An introduction to a growing leisure activity around the world. Geocaching 101 will teach you the basics on how to use a GPS, from setting up way points to navigating your way to find the hidden treasure. You can use your own GPS or Outdoor Recreation can provide one for you.

4/20, 1300-1700 No cost. Go out into the local community in search for some hidden caches. This is a great way to see how geocaching really works. You can use your own GPS or Outdoor Recreation can provide one for you.
FAMILY HIKE AND SOAK AT CHENA HOT SPRINGS
4/20, 0900-1700 Cost: $20/person Enjoy a fun day away from town at the beautiful Chena Hot Springs Resort. We will start the day with a leisurely hike on one of the trails and then spend the rest of our time relaxing and soaking in the hot spring. We provide the transportation; just don’t forget to bring a lunch, swim wear and a towel. Kids under 18 are not allowed in the outdoor hot springs rock lake.
4/20, 1100 Summer time in Alaska means endless daylight, warmer weather, and bears. Don’t let the bears stop you from enjoying all that Alaska has to offer. Our Bear safety clinic will teach you the skills you need to be safer in bear country. 4/20, 1300 Summertime in Alaska is what makes the winter bearable. With millions of acres of land and miles upon miles of rivers, there is no end to the amount of awesome activities you can do! Stop by building 4050 and Outdoor Recreation can help you plan your own adventures.
ATV SAFETY COURSE
4/27, 1300 This course is required for any of the ATV programs we will be running this summer. This ATV Safety Institute course is provided to promote safe and responsible use of ATV’s, thereby reducing accidents and injuries that may result from improper operation. Be sure to bring gloves and a good pair of over the ankle boots. Tennis shoes are not allowed!

Apprenticeship Program provides 15-18 year-old youth with meaningful, professionally managed career-exploration opportunities in Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) operations.
