OUTDOOR RECREATION CENTER Be sure to sign up in advance for all ORC programs. It gives us the ability to better prepare for you! To register for programs: 361-6349/361-6350. CROSS COUNTRY SKIING LESSONS Arrange with instructor. call 361-2652. Age: 10 and older Fee: $5 per person

These courses are a great introduction to cross country skiing for individuals or the family. Equipment is provided. Sessions run between 45 minutes and an hour. If the temperatures hits below -10째F, lessons will be postponed to a warmer date.


WOMEN IN THE WILDERNESS: SNOWSHOE AND SOAK December 3, 9 a.m. Fee: $15 per person Must be 18+ to enter the rock pool.

Strap on the snowshoes and venture out into the Chena State Recreation Area. Participants will head to the Chena Hot Springs Resort to soak in the outdoor rock pool afterwards. ORC provides transportation, snowshoe equipment and instruction. Patrons should bring warm clothes, lunch, water, swimwear and a towel for the hot spring!

COMPEAUS TRAIL SNOWMACHINE RUN December 10 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Fee: $50/driver, $10/additional passenger.

ORC provides transportation, snowmachine and helmet. Patrons should bring lunch, snacks, beverages and cold weather clothing. If the

temperature drops below -10°F the trip will postpone to a warmer date.

OVERNIGHT CABIN CROSS COUNTRY SKI December 17 – 18 8 a.m. departure Fee: $45 per person

SNOWMACHINE SAFETY COURSE December 3, 9 a.m. Age: 18+, no cost

Participants will be issued a Snowmachine Safety Card at the conclusion of the course. This class is required to rent snowmachines from the ORC.

Cross country ski out to one of the cabins north of Fairbanks for an overnight adventure. ORC will provide food, ski equipment, sleeping bags, packs and transportation. Patrons should bring warm clothing and a sense of adventure.

ICE FISHING

December 17 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Cost: $25 per person ORC will provide transportation, rod, reel, bait, ice fishing hut with woodstove. Participants should wear warm clothing, bring snacks/ drinks, and an Alaska State Fishing License. If the temp drops below -20°F the trip will be postponed to a warmer date.

WHITE MOUNTAINS SNOWMACHINE TRIP December 31 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Fee: $50/driver, $10/additional passenger

This adventure will be to the White Mountains National Recreation Area. ORC provides transportation, snowmachine and helmet. Bring lunch, snacks, beverages and cold weather clothing.

Child, Youth & School Services provides limited child care on site for FAME programs. Cost: $33 per month per child per session When: M, W, F 9 to 10:30 a.m., or 10:30 to 12 p.m. $24 per month per child session When: T, Th 9 to 10:30 a.m., or 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Minimum of 5 registered to offer classes. Children must be pre-registered at Parent Central Services, 4391 Neely Rd., room 18. Pre-registration begins the 20th of the month for the next month’s sessions.
