An informative class is followed by a hands-on practical demonstration on the operation of the machine. Participants will be issued a Snowmachine Safety Card at the conclusion of the course.

Indoor Rock Climbing at Melaven Gym* Jan. 6, 13, 20, & 27 | 1:00 p.m. Participants: Min: 2 | Max: 12 Age: 7 and older | Must be 15 or older for belay training | $5 per person. Climbing is a great mental and physical challenge, a great Family fun activity for those cold winter weekends!

Beginner Cross Country Skiing Lessons* Date and Time: Arrange with Instructor Participants: Max: 4 Age: 10 & older $25 per person. These courses are a great introduction to cross country skiing for individuals or the Family with the convenience of a time that works for you! Lessons are offered all winter long and equipment is provided. Sessions run between 45 minutes and an hour. If the temperature hits below -10, lessons will be postponed to a warmer date.

Meet at the ORC for a brief lesson on cross country skiing before we head out into Glass Park for some hands on experience! Cost of registration includes lesson, ski boots, cross country skis, and poles. If the temperature drops below -10, we will postpone to a warmer date.

Join the Outdoor Recreation Team for some Women’s Only Ice Fishing in Alaska’s interior lakes. ODC will provide transportation, rod and reel, bait, ice fishing hut with woodstove, and the know-how to get you started. If the temperature drops below -20 degrees, we will attempt to postpone to a warmer day.

CDC I Bldg. 4024 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Learn how to soothe your fussy baby in five minutes or less at the Cuddle Cure Class. This two hour class is recommended for pregnant women, couples, parents, grandparents, child care providers or anyone who has interest in the well being of infants from birth to 3 months of age. Topics covered are: > the joys and challenges of becoming a new parent > what to expect from your new baby > the importance of feeding your baby enough > the reasons why babies cry, definition of colic > the missing 4th tri-mester and 5 steps to calming your baby Participants will receive a Parent Kit which includes: a swaddling blanket, The Happiest Baby on the Block DVD and a soothing sounds CD.
