The Summer University arrives in Fuerteventura

Lluís Serra, the rector of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPCG), together with the president of Fuerteventura’s Cabildo, Sergio Lloret, visited Fuerteventura’s Technological Park to check on the progress of the build of the new multipurpose building that the Cabildo is planning for professional and university training courses.

The visit took place after the rector went to the Cabildo to sign the collaboration agreement between the Cabildo and the ULPGC, which will launch, this summer, the first edition of Fuerteventura’s Summer University.

The Cabildo’s president, pointed out that the multipurpose building that will be built in Fuerteventura’s Technological Park will be the venue for university and professional training courses from the ULPGC, as well as other institutions such as Fuerteventura’s Art School or the National University for Remote Education (UNED).

Serra Majem confirmed the total support from the ULPGC for the building of a new building, insisting that “the university is willing to introduce new degrees, such as audiovisual production, telecommunications, robotics or psychology if a new multipurpose building is built. The build of this new building opens up a whole range of possibilities”.

A Summer University for the island of Fuerteventura Fuerteventura’s Summer University aims atbecoming a space for knowledge and reflection concerning various subjects of interest for the island. This format has been consolidated in other locations and the programme is based on conferences and workshops animated by university professors and prestigious personalities in the chosen subjects.

L’Université d’Été arrive à Fuerteventura

Lluís Serra, recteur de l’Université de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPCG), en compagnie du président du Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Sergio Lloret, a visité le Parc technologique de Fuerteventura. Lors de cette visite, ils ont pu observer l’avancement des travaux du nouveau bâtiment polyvalent dans lequel le Cabildo a prévu l’implantation de cours de formation professionnelle et universitaire.

La visite a eu lieu après le passage du recteur au Cabildo de Fuerteventura pour la signature de l’accord de collaboration entre le Cabildo et l’ULPGC pour la mise en marche, cet été, de la première édition de l’Université d’Été de Fuerteventura.

Le président du Cabildo a souligné que le bâtiment polyvalent qui est en construction dans le Parc Technologique de Fuerteventura est destiné à accueillir des cours de formation universitaire et professionnelle de l’ULPGC, ainsi que d’autres institutions comme l’École d’Art de Fuerteventura ou l’Université Nationale de l’Éducation à Distance (UNED).

Serra Majem a confirmé le soutien total de la part de l’ULPGC pour la construction d’un nouveau bâtiment pour la formation universitaire en soulignant que « l’université est disposée à implanter de nouvelles classes, comme la production audio-visuelle, les télécommunications, la robotique ou la psychologie, si un nouveau bâtiment polyvalent est créé. La construction de ce nouveau bâtiment ouvre tout un éventail de possibilités ».

Une Université d’été pour l’île de Fuerteventura

L’Université d’Été de Fuerteventura vise à devenir un espace pour les connaissances et la réflexion concernant diverses disciplines d’intérêt général pour l’île. Il s’agit d’un format consolidé dans d’autres territoires dont le programme sera basé sur des conférences et des ateliers animés par des professeurs d’université et del alumnado, así como la obtención de créditos por la asistencia. Según explicó el rector, “las universidades de verano deben celebrarse en colaboración con instituciones universitarias y al no existir universidad con sede en la isla majorera, se acude a la universidad pública de referencia en la provincia”. des personnalités connues et prestigieuses dans les matières abordées.

The collaboration of the ULPGC will enable Fuerteventura’s Summer University to be acknowledged in the university sector as they will organise the students’ participation and the obtention of credits forattendance. The rector explained that “summer universities should be organised in collaboration with university institutions and as the island of Fuerteventura doesn’t have one, it is the public university of reference of the province that they turned to”.

This is due to be a permanent project, aimed at all members of the public, although university students and professionals in the subjects studied in each edition are given priority. The first edition will be dedicated to the world of education and its power as a social transformation tool.

La collaboration de l’ULPGC permettra à l’Université d’Été de Fuerteventura d’être reconnue dans le milieu universitaire car elle organisera la participation des élèves, ainsi que l’obtention de crédits pour l’assistance. Selon le recteur, « les Universités d’Été doivent être organisées en collaboration avec des institutions universitaires et puisqu’il n’existe pas d’université sur l’île de Fuerteventura, ils ont fait appel à l’université publique de référence dans la province ».

Cette université vise à perdurer dans le temps et est dirigée à tous les publics, bien qu’elle soit majoritairement focalisée sur les étudiants universitaires et les professionnels dans les matières abordées dans chaque édition. La première édition sera dédiée au monde de l’éducation et son pouvoir comme outil de transformation social.
