INTRODUCING THE COLLECTION

The Spring Summer 2022 Collection speaks of Furla’s love for nature, artisan craftsmanship, vibrant colours and natural materials. To discover this collection, we escape to Tuscany, with green fields speckled with stone and marble houses and the patterned landscape of olive trees and sunflower patches. Spring is arriving, with flowers blooming by the side of the cypress-lined roads. We arrive at the town of Pietrasanta, with its winding cobblestone streets and faded facades, and take a peek into the small workshops, where artisans practice their crafts, weaving straw baskets and working with the local materials. It is easy to lose oneself in the many art galleries, hand-painted pottery shops and laboratories. This charming Tuscan town has also become the residence for many sculptors from all over the world who have relocated here to work with the local marble. Art installations invade the main square of the town, creating the juxtaposition of an unexpected touch of modernity against the quaint surroundings. The Collection reflects this clash, with extreme materials and shapes: a pop of lasered plexiglass with a warm cognac leather, sophisticated top handle shapes animated with fresh floral prints, and extra-large basket totes contrasted with tiny crossbody bags that can barely hold a phone. As summer approaches, we venture down to the local beach towns of the Versilia coast, with their colourful beachfront cabanas and striped facades. The retro vibe transforms into a modern interpretation, with a unique mix of colours, shapes and textures. For summer we never leave our furry friends behind, always keeping them close to us with our new bags and small leather goods inspired by our favorite breeds.

The first delivery represents the dichotomy of Italian traditional charm and innovation: lasered plexiglass elements compliment heritage materials, workmanship and classic shapes. Bucolic elements such as floral prints and butterfly motifs are mixed with geometric colourblocking and architectural forms. The colour palette centers on soft shades of peach and pink with a pop of tangerine. Shades of green reflecting the olive trees and sage of the Italian countryside are juxtaposed against the cool marble grey used for contemporary Italian design. These contrasting elements create a blended harmony for a fresh start to Spring. The second delivery is a modern evolution of nostalgic summer elements: wicker and raffia bags are given a novel twist with ABS chains and sporty webbed straps. Extra large totes are animated with new patterns and pops of colour, and soft hobos are presented in pastel colours and unique materials. There is a particular focus on craftsmanship with the woven materials recalling handwoven artisan baskets and crochet details. The colour focus is on warm cognac and bright yellows, giving us a vibrant start to summer.

INTRODUCING THE COLLECTION

The SS22 Main Collection focuses on creative experimentation, mixing suggestions that belong to the imagery common to every woman. Furla Gilda & Meraviglia espadrille-effect constructions, in which rope and leather are mixed with white treaded rubber bottoms, to take on a more contemporary look. The ballerina in grained leather or striped canvas is enriched by a soft grosgrain ribbon that wraps around the ankle, while the new urban slide of the season is cleverly constructed around the fussbet, as if it were a single body held together by an enveloping leather cross. On the one hand a relaxed attitude, emphasized by the use of refined fabrics and bright colours, straw and rope, and on the other a minimalist elegance, as in the novelties of the Sirena Group. The focus is on the construction, the curved heel and the square-shaped toe, while the lines are simplified, in search of the essential and the detail that distinguishes.

Through a powerful filter, the new Furla collection re-edits in a contemporary key what is part of the collective imagination, injecting the ‘Joie de vivre’, which has always characterized the brand and makes it unique and unmistakable.

FURLA 1927 The Furla 1927 hardware embellishment has been inspired by the “arch” shape of Fondazione Furla architecture, which has been translated into a sleek metallic ornament, enhancing bags and shoes with a pure aesthetic design. The convertible loafer is embellished by the Arch signature and can be used as a moccasin or as a mule by folding the back of the shoe.

CROSTA – Split cow leather with a textured aspect, but still velvety since it is obtained from the second layer of tanning. The final look is casual and sporty. CAPRA LUX (black) - Small-sized goat leather with a natural full-grain aspect characterized by a vegetable tanning. This is the most artisanal leather of the collection. The tanning process takes place naturally with mimosa and rosewood. The dyeing takes place in barrels with industrial dyes and a small addition of aniline, without the use of aggressive products. The finishing process is artisanal, therefore absolutely manual: the leathers are ironed, one by one, by hand, under a pendulum machine which, with the oscillation, generates the heat necessary to stretch the leather and develop the particular shine of the grain. Being a vegetable tanning, the use of leather takes on particular chromatic nuances with the passage of time, almost like light-dark brushstrokes made by time. For cleaning, especially that of light colours, we recommend using a simple damp cloth to remove dust and excess dirt. The use of commercial creams is not recommended, because they may contain non-precious waxes, which risk altering the surface of the skin, creating halos. Be careful of exposure to hot lights for prolonged times, as it can alter the original colour of the skin. 57

VERNICE NAPLACK - Bovine base leather, chrome tanned and finished with an acrylic layer which gives the material its characteristic of brilliance and shine. Naplack has a softer touch and is obtained through a dry drum process for a few hours, in order to obtain a less compact and looser surface. The reflection is not mirrored but faceted for a more sophisticated look.
