Los días 8, 9, 10 y 11 de abril, la céntrica plaza de Santa Cruz acoge la quinta edición de la feria gastronómica al aire libre Eating Madrid, dedicada a los mejores alimentos nacionales. Dátiles y almendras de Alicante, Sobrasada ecológica, jamones de pata negra, anchoas y bonitos de Santoña o el queso de cabra curado Vall de Catí son algunos de los veinte expositores que desvelarán al público sus métodos tradicionales de elaboración. From April 8th - 11th the downtown Plaza of Santa Cruz hosts the fifth edition of the Eating Madrid outdoor gastronomical fair, dedicated to the finest in Spanish food. Dates and almonds from Alicante, ecological sobrasada, or Majorcan sausage; pata negra ham, anchovies and tuna from Santoña, or Vall de Cati goat cheese are just some of the twenty items which will be featured at stands presenting traditional methods of culinary elaboration to the public.

The first weekend in April tennis fans have the chance to enjoy their favorite sport through a charity event to benefit two key groups: those affected by the Haiti earthquake and the Alda Foundation's educational projects in Paraguay, at the same time, fans can enjoy an exhibition tournament featuring the likes of Feliciano López.
Cartagena acude puntual a su cita con la danza contemporánea. Del 8 al 17 de abril, celebra la novena edición del Festival MuDanzas. Entre otras, las compañías de Akram Khan, Dani Pannullo y Aracaladanza actúan en el Nuevo Teatro Circo, mientras que AcquaAlta, Otra Danza y R.E.A Danza o Iker Gómez lo harán en las calles. From April 8th - 17th, the City of Cartagena's Cultural Council celebrates the ninth edition of the MuDanzas Festival. Devoción, naturaleza y espectáculo aguardan en la población murciana de Caravaca de la Cruz con motivo de la celebración de su Año Jubilar 2010. Ahora, los caminos que llevan hasta aquí se multiplican, se llenan de experiencias y un gran viaje comienza. Apta para todos, Caravaca de la Cruz es una ciudad especial, magnética, incapaz de dejar indiferente a nadie. Hasta ella acuden todos los años miles de visitantes, cada uno en busca de una experiencia distinta. Mucha historia, un inmenso patrimonio monumental, paisajes que rozan los umbrales de la imaginación y gentes hospitalarias convierten a este destino en una excusa perfecta para salir y viajar. Ya en la afueras de la ciudad, y frente a una llanura de almendros, se intuye el carácter medieval de la villa. En este punto, lo primero que se divisa es una cascada de variopintas casas que se derrama por la falda de la ladera conformando el casco antiguo de la urbe. En lo alto, y dominando el entorno, se encuentra el corazón de la ciudad, una basílica con forma de castillo en la que se custodia el mayor tesoro de estos lugares: la Santísima Vera Cruz de Caravaca. La joya es un relicario que guarda en su interior un 'Lignum Cucis', es decir, un fragmento del madero en el que fue crucificado Cristo.

Now, all roads lead to this town, roads filled with experiences as a great journey begins. Todo esto en un formidable escenario en el que las iglesias, claustros, capillas y ermitas, constituyen un atrezo que convive con los yacimientos eneolíticos, argáricos, íberos y romanos que salen al paso y que en su mayoría también poseen un origen religioso y ritual. Uno de estos yacimientos es el poblado fortificado de Los Villares, levantado en su origen por los íberos para mantener vigilada la ruta comercial que unía el Levante con Andalucía. La aldea, enclavada sobre una elevación montañosa, conserva aún hoy algunas partes de la muralla del perímetro, de tres metros de anchura, y numerosos restos de las casas de la época.

One of these sites is the fortified village of Los Villares, which was originally built by the Iberians to guard the trade route linking Levante to Andalusia. The town, perched atop a mountain, to this day preserves parts of its three-meter high perimeter wall, as well as the remains of various houses from that era.

Otro de los atractivos más populares de la localidad es el paraje natural de las Fuentes del Marqués, donde manantiales de agua cristalina brotan por todas partes, mezclándose con la abundante vegetación de la zona. Dentro de los límites de la finca, se halla el Torreón de los Templarios, una plaza fortificada envuelta de antiguas leyendas que en la actualidad acoge un Centro de Interpretación de la Naturaleza. En cuanto al aspecto cultural, el Museo Etnográfico Ángel Reinón representa una de las paradas más originales. En su interior se extiende un mundo en miniatura hecho a mano, lija y lima. En este lugar, los tractores y los carros caben en la palma de la mano, y palabras como alpargatero, herrador o picapedrero devuelven a los oficios su significado tradicional. Si se dispone del tiempo suficiente, también es muy aconsejable detenerse en el Museo de Música Étnica de Barranda, donde una colección de instrumentos musicales venidos de los cinco continentes atesora todos los sonidos del mundo.
One of the town's most popular attractions is the Fuentes del Marqués Nature Area, where crystalline water springs well up everywhere to mix with the abundant local vegetation. Within the confines of the Area is the Templars Watchtower, a fortified square shrouded in ancient legends that today houses a Nature Research Center. On the cultural side, a most original stop awaits you at the Ángel Reinón Ethnographic Museum. Inside is a miniature world hand crafted with sandpaper and file. In this place, tractors and carts fit in the palm of your hand, and words like espadrille maker, blacksmith and stone mason hark back to the original meanings of these professions. If time permits, a stop at the Barranda Museum of Ethnic Music is also highly recommended. Here, the sounds of the world are cherished through the museum's collection of musical instruments from every continent.

La Semana Santa en Cartagena está marcada con especial devoción por todos sus vecinos. La ciudad entera se echa a la calle en unas Fiestas de Interés Turístico Internacional desde el pasado 2005. Hoy en día, Cartagena no se puede entender sin su Semana Santa. Durante esos diez días Cartagena recibe a millares de turistas dispuestos a sumergirse en una fiesta llena de tradición, respeto y emoción. La identidad propia, marcada por el aire castrense, que se respira en cualquiera de sus desfiles pasionarios, tiene rasgos muy definidos: la monumentalidad de sus tronos, la belleza de sus imágenes, con la firma de Capuz, González Moreno o Salzillo, el colorido de los tercios de Granaderos y Soldados Romanos, la luz portentosa de sus hachotes, el orden que llevan los penitentes, la Salve Cartagenera o los balcones engalanados con los colores de las Cofradías. Llama la atención el caminar de los penitentes en cada una de las procesiones que se desarrollan desde el Viernes de Dolores, hasta el Domingo de Resurrección. Diez días en los que el silencio se apoderas de las calles cartageneras. Los pasos se acoplan al ritmo de los tambores. La ciudad parece detenerse cuando el paso o la imagen queda parado. Sólo se puede sentir el silencio a la luz de las miles de velas. Se puede respirar una emoción más sentida en actos como la salida de San Pedro del Arsenal, el Encuentro en la madrugada del Viernes Santo, la salida de Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno de la Pescadería de Santa Lucía y el Lavatorio de Pilatos que hacen que la Semana Santa de Cartagena sea única.
Holy Week in Cartagena is greeted with a special devotion by its all of its neighbors. The whole city takes to the streets for what has been a Festival of International Tourist Interest since 2005. Cartagena today cannot be understood without its Holy Week. Receiving thousands of tourists yearning to experience a celebration marked by its traditions, respect and emotion. The unique military identity that is present at any of its Holy Week processions offers some striking features: the pomp of its thrones, the beauty of its images by such artists as Capuz, González Moreno and Salzillo, the colors of its regiments of Grenadiers and Roman Soldiers, the portentous light from its candles, the order exhibited by the penitents, the singing of the Salve Cartagenera, the balconies decked out in the colors of the Fraternities. The penitents' walk in each one of the processions held beginning on the Friday of Sorrows until Easter Sunday, ten days in which silent processions fill the streets of Cartagena, is something special. The festival's floats are guided by nothing but the sound of drumbeats announcing their progress through the city, which seems to stand still when they come to a halt. Spectators can feel the silence under the glow of thousands of candles. A more palpable emotion can be felt at events such as the carrying of Saint Peter out of the Arsenal, the dawn Encounter on Good Friday, the procession of Our Father Jesus the Nazarene from the Santa Lucía Fish Market and Pilate's Wash Basin, all of which make the Cartagena Holy Week a unique experience.

La provincia de Guadalajara vive con fervor las fechas de Semana Santa. Todas las localidades se convierten en un foco de atención con sus distintas formas de conmemorar la Pasión de Cristo. La Semana Santa de Guadalajara está declarada de Interés Turístico Regional desde el año 1999. Cada año miles de guadalajareños y turistas se congregan en unas fiestas plenas de arte fervor y devoción. Las Cofradías y Hermandades de Guadalajara protagonizan las distintas procesiones, donde desfilan multitud de encapuchados que, en algunas ocasiones se mortifican caminando descalzos, arrastrando pesadas cadenas o cruces como cumplimiento de promesas. También es de Interés Turístico Regional la Pasión Viviente de Hiendeleaencina. Esta representación de la Pasión y Muerte de Jesucristo se celebra el Viernes Santo desde el 1972. Los 100 actores que en ella participan congregan en la ciudad a más de 4.000 personas, en una localidad donde sólo residen 150. Otro de los muchos focos de atención de la provincia en esas fechas lo tenemos en Sigüenza con la "Procesión de los Armaos", donde la imagen del Nazareno es escoltada por los armaos.
The province of Guadalajara lives fervently the Holy Week and all of its localities turn into a focus of attention thanks to their different ways of commemorating Christ's Passion. The Holy Week of Guadalajara is declared of Tourist Regional Interest since 1999. Every year, thousands of people from Guadalajara and tourists congregate for a few days of devotion and religious fervour. The Brotherhoods of Guadalajara lead the different processions where hooded penitents express their contrition by walking barefooted, dragging heavy chains or crosses as they strive for forgiveness and redemption. Hiendeleaencina's Living Passion is also declared as being of Tourist Regional Interest. This representation of the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ is celebrated on Good Friday since 1972. One hundred actors take part and the performance attracts more than 4.000 persons to a city where normally only 150 people reside. Another one of those special acts in the province during these dates takes place in Sigüenza and is called the "Procession of the Armed Ones" (Procesión de los Armados), in which the image of Jesus the Nazarene is escorted by an armed guard.

La tradición y la fuerza de la historia han convertido a la Semana Santa de Astorga en una auténtica fiesta común para vecinos y recién llegados. La pasión y la riqueza en cada uno de los pasos señalan a la ciudad maragata como uno de los puntos de atención de Castilla y León durante esos días. Las ocho cofradías que forman la Junta Profomento de la Semana Santa guardan un extraordinario patrimonio de imaginería religiosa que se convierte en protagonista desde el Viernes de Dolores. Las cofradías trabajan muy duro durante el año para seguir haciendo de la Semana Santa de su ciudad una de las principales del país. Las cofradías han ido evolucionando sin perder los valores propios de estas fechas, y junto con los actos religiosos dan la fórmula exacta a unos días tan especiales.

El elenco de imágenes que atesoran los grupos cofrades, los ritos que acompañan cada procesión y la perfecta armonía entre el fervor religioso y la tradición pagana se unen en cada una de las procesiones que recorren las calles de la ciudad. Las ocho cofradías custodian los pasos que salen en dieciseis procesiones distintas que acaparan la atención de aquellos que llenan Astorga durante la Semana de Pasión. Pese a que la mística y la fe emanan en cualquiera de los actos de la Semana Santa en Astorga, hay algunos que nos parecen más llamativos por el fervor propio del paso o por la solemnidad que llena su recorrido. No podemos dejar de ver la procesión que hace el Bendito Cristo de los Afligidos con las trece cruces que le preceden en el camino, así como el encuentro que tiene San Juanín con la Virgen para anunciar que ha visto a su hijo en la plaza de la Catedral, se ven correr las dos tallas para el encuentro y luego va la Virgen marcha en busca de su hijo, es un momento con un toque único en las procesiones. Otro de los momentos destacados es la que hacen conjuntas todas las cofradías en el Vía Crucis nocturno hacia la Catedral. Destacan también las procesiones sólo de mujeres, de la cofradía de las Damas de la Piedad.
The collection of images the brotherhoods possess, the rituals which accompany each procession and the perfect harmony between religious fervor and pagan tradition are fused in each and every one of these events wending their way through the city's streets. The eight brotherhoods are in charge of the floats which embark on fourteen different processions, capturing the attention of all those who flock to Astorga during this Week of the Passion. Though mysticism and faith emanate from all of the Holy Week events in Astorga, some are especially striking thanks to the passion conveyed by the float itself, or the solemnity characterizing its journey. Not to be overlooked is the Way of the Cross followed by the Bendito Cristo de los Afligidos (Blessed Christ of the Afflicted), with thirteen crosses preceding it along the way, or the meeting between St. John and the Virgin, announcing that Christ has risen in the Cathedral's plaza. Both figures seem to run towards the rendezvous, with the Virgin going in search of her son - a moment with a unique touch amongst the different processions. Another special event is the nighttime Via Crucis in which all the brotherhoods participate, with the Cathedral as its destination. There are also processions restricted to women - those of the sisterhood of the Damas de la Piedad (Ladies of Mercy).

La otra gran atracción de la Semana Santa de Astorga son las bandas de cornetas y tambores. Durante todo el año ensayan las composiciones que después se oirán en las procesiones. En este 2010 asistiremos a la celebración de su decimoséptima edición del Certamen de Bandas de Semana Santa. La gastronomía de Astorga encarna el espíritu más pagano de la fiesta y se pone al servicio de las celebraciones. No hay ningún restaurante en el que pueda faltar limonada y torrijas. Dos alicientes más para hacer de esta semana una de las mejores en toda Castilla y León. La Semana Santa de Astorga es el punto clave para las cofradías, que trabajan para hacer de esas fechas unos días muy especiales, junto con los actos religiosos. Actualizarla sin perder la tradición.
The other main attraction of Astorga's Holy Week are the horn and drum bands which year round rehearse the compositions to be played during the processions. This year, 2010, we will celebrate their 17th anniversary. Meanwhile, Astorga's gastronomy represents the festival's more pagan side, placing itself at the service of the celebrations. There is not a restaurant to be found without lemonade and torrijas, two additional enticements to make this week one of the best weeks Castile & León has to offer. Astorga's Holy Week is the year's crowning moment for the brotherhoods, which work to make the fesival very special, along with the religious acts held, seeking to modernize without straying from the tradition.

En 1920, a instancias del Arzobispo de Valladolid, Remigio Gandásegui se recuperan los desfiles procesionales con la presencia de las cofradías penitenciales y de las imágenes que se habían ido conservando en el Museo. Un momento ineludible es la Procesión General del Viernes Santo que abarca un total de treinta y dos pasos por diecinueve cofradías mostrando escenas de todos los momentos de la Pasión de Cristo. Este encuentro es seguido con devoción y silencio tanto por los hermanos cofrades como por el público que asiste a la misma, de tal manera que sorprende por el ambiente de respeto creado. En el caso de Valladolid, hablar de Semana Santa es hacerlo de arte debido al especial valor que poseen las numerosas tallas que recorren sus calles. Un vínculo que la ciudad del Pisuerga mantiene gracias a obras maestras de los más destacados imagineros como Gregorio Fernández o Juan de Juni.

Una de las más representativas es el conjunto de El Descendimiento que data del año 1623. Gijón demuestra cada día su condición de ciudad con sal; se muestra atractiva en todas las estaciones del año y, por supuesto, dispuesta a acoger nuevos visitantes. La celebración del Año Santo proporciona una nueva forma de entrada y la llegada de los peregrinos. La vía más septentrional del Camino de Santiago tiene una etapa plena para los sentidos en la ciudad de Gijón. Al abrigo del Cantábrico y con el paisaje de las montañas, el camino del norte supone una de las rutas más especiales gracias a la tranquilidad de sus itinerarios y la fusión con la naturaleza. Gijón y su puerto han servido de punto de reposo y descanso a numerosos peregrino a lo largo de los tiempos. Esa función ha dejado en la historia de Gijón algunas construcciones como el hospital de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, en funcionamiento desde el siglo XV. Su papel era el cuidado y asistencia de los peregrinos más desfavorecidos. La llegada de los peregrinos a Gijón en este Año Santo tiene como primer testigo a la Universidad Laboral. En la ruta de la costa en el camino del norte, Gijón es el final de la octava etapa (Niévares-Gijón) y punto de partida de la novena que tendrá su punto final en Tabaza.

Gijón reveals itself every day as an appetizing destination. Attractive year round, in all seasons of the year, the city stands eager to welcome new visitors, and this holy year provides a new way to enter the city as pilgrims arrive on foot. The northernmost route of the Camino de Santiago (or Way of St. James) features a stage bound to dazzle the senses in the city of Gijón. Resting on the Cantabrian Sea and surrounded by a mountain landscape, the northern route is one of the most special along the Way thanks to its tranquil stages and its closeness to nature. The port and city of Gijón have served as a place for pilgrims to rest and relax throughout history. That role has left its mark on the history of Gijón, leaving buildings like the Nuestra Señora de los Remedios Hospital, in operation since the fifteenth century, when it offered care and assistance to the poorest of pilgrims. Pilgrims arriving in Gijón during this holy year first come upon the Universidad Laboral. On the coastal section of the way's northern route, Gijón marks the end of the eighth stage (Niévares-Gijon) and the starting point of the ninth, which winds up in Tabaza.

El Camino Real entraba a Gijón por la actual calle Carretera de la Costa, llegando a la Puerta de Begoña. Salía camino de Avilés por El Natahoyo, Cuatro Caminos y La Calzada. Es indudable que los peregrinos, una vez en la villa de Gijón, se dirigirían al casco antiguo y muchos de ellos buscarían asilo en el hospital de los Remedios, situado en Cimavilla. Los viajeros caminaban hacia el centro de la ciudad guiados por la costa. El barrio de Cimavilla era el encargado de presentar la ciudad a los peregrinos. Una relación enriquecedora de la que Gijón ha ido aprendiendo, y de la que los participantes en el Camino de Santiago han disfrutado desde hace mucho tiempo. La riqueza cultural y gastronómica de Gijón ha abierto siempre sus puertas a aquellos que se han acercado a sus calles. En este Año Santo el Ayuntamiento se ha volcado de modo especial en la recepción de los caminantes. El alojamiento de peregrinos Camping Municipal de Deva se ha configurado como el lugar perfecto para el reposo entre las etapas. Además, se ha habilitado un libro de registro en el que se podrán dejar las impresiones de la etapa, o escribir los deseos de la próxima. Está situado en la parroquia de Deva, una de las más hermosas del concejo, y forma parte de este itinerario para llegar al tramo urbano.
El Camino Real (Royal Road) entered Gijón through the modern-day Carretera de la Costa (Coastal Road), arriving to the Puerta de Begoña, and continuing on towards Avilés through Natahoyo, Cuatro Caminos and La Calzada. Once in the town of Gijón, many pilgrims would doubtless make for the historic quarter, seeking aid at the Remedios Hospital in Cimavilla. Pilgrims walk towards the center of the city, guided by the coast. The Cimavilla district is responsible for introducing pilgrims to the city - a rewarding relationship from which Gijón has gradually learned, and which travelers on the Way of Saint James have enjoyed for ages. Culturally and gastronomically rich, Gijón has always opened its doors to those who have come to tour its streets. During this holy year the city has gone all out to welcome pilgrims passing through. The Deva Municipal Campground, providing accommodations for pilgrims, has been set up as the perfect site to rest between stages. A registry book has also been provided in which travelers can leave their impressions of the stages, or their wishes for the next one. It is located in the Deva parish, one of the most beautiful in the area, and forms part of the route covered to reach the urban section.

Las instalaciones cuentan con 6 cabañas de madera y 36 plazas. En breve se habilitará un espacio de recreo para disfrute de los viajeros. Una forma de llevarse el camino ya hecho y aprovechar los hitos culturales del mismo a su paso por esta ciudad es consultar www.gijon.info/caminodesantiago. Allí podemos encontrar información útil y un mapa en google map con todo el trayecto desde que comienza en Gijón en la frontera con Villaviciosa hasta llegar a Carreño. Más de 30 puntos de interés que bien merecen una parada en el camino. Desde el Ayuntamiento se han preparado algunas conferencias que arrancarán en la segunda quincena del mes de mayo con el Camino de Santiago como eje central. La condición de etapa jacobea le aporta a la ciudad un punto diferente para las próximas fechas estivales. Los visitantes habituales, o los ocasionales salpicarán los paseos de Cimavilla al barrio de San Lorenzo mezclándose con aquellos que tienen la Plaza del Obradoiro en su meta. Una de las novedades la podeomos encontrar en Google Maps, donde es posible ver el itinerario completo punto por punto. En breve se editará una publicación con la historia del Camino de Santiago en Gijón y un detalle de los lugares de paso.

There are over 30 points of interest worthy of stops along the way. Gijón's city government has organized a series of lectures to commence in the second half of May, with the Way of St. James in the spotlight. The holy year, combined with the stage on the Way passing through the city, is set to lend it a different air during the summer. Both regular and occasional visitors will be found strolling from Cimavilla to the San Lorenzo quarter, mingling with travelers bound for the Plaza del Obradoiro in Santiago de Compostela. One of the innovations can be found on Google Maps, where one can view a complete, point by point itinerary. There will be soon be a publication on the history of the Camino de Santiago in Gijón featuring a detailed look at the sites along the way.

Vaughan Systems inaugura oficialmente su área de habla exclusivamente inglesa, VaughanTown, en el pueblo abandonado de Valdelavilla (Soria). Allí ofrece un programa cuyos beneficios equivalen a residir seis semanas en cualquier lugar de la geografía sajona, invirtiendo sólo seis días a la vez que promueve el turismo rural en nuestro país a lo largo de todo el año. Valdelavilla acogió el primer programa piloto de VaughanTown en julio de 2001. Este pueblo, situado en uno de los mejores espacios naturales, sin cobertura para móvil, y reconstruido como un complejo turístico rural desde que fue abandonado en los años 60, es el lugar idóneo para crear un entorno angloparlante. Junto con VaughanTown en Gredos (Ávila), Valdelavilla favorece la convivencia de un número limitado de anglohablantes voluntarios, con la mayor variedad de acentos nativos y sin ninguna experiencia docente, con el mismo número de españoles. Con ello, Vaughan Systems atiende a la demanda reflejada en una encuesta de su web, donde se identificaba como el principal problema para dominar el inglés la compresión auditiva (42%). En VaughanTown, se escucharán treinta mil frases en inglés durante noventa horas y se pronunciarán otras veinte mil, convirtiéndose en el aprendizaje lingüístico más intenso disponible en la actualidad en nuestro país.
Vaughan Systems has officially inaugurated its Englishonly area, VaughanTown, in the abandoned town of Valdelavilla (Soria). The program offered there is comparable to a six-week stay anywhere in the English-speaking world, and requires only a six-day investment while promoting year-round rural tourism in our country. Valdelavilla hosted the initial VaughanTown pilot program in July 2001. This town, situated in one of the best natural settings, without cell phone coverage, and rebuilt as a rural tourist complex after being abandoned in the 60s, is the ideal place for creating an English-speaking environment. Along with VaughanTown in Gredos (Ávila), Valdelavilla hosts a limited number of English-speaking volunteers with various native accents and no teaching experience, all living together with an equal number of Spaniards. Vaughan Systems thus hopes to meet the demand reflected in a survey on its website that identified listening comprehension as the main obstacle (42%) to mastering English. VaughanTown participants will hear thirty thousand phrases in English over the course of ninety hours, and pronounce another twenty thousand, making this the most intensive language learning experience available in Spain.

Recoge importantes piezas distribuidas en tres colecciones de bellas artes, etnografía y arqueología.
