My first exchange in Cyprus!
Day 1. When we arrived we were greeted in Paphos by Cypriot teachers. They were very friendly and funny. I immediately knew that it will be an adventure I will not forget. On this day we saw Paphos mosaics which were very old but I think it was noteworthy because they show significant scenes from the Greek mythology. Then, I saw the castle. Unfortunately, it was closed. It was a castle built on the water. Even if it was a simple castle it was built to protect the access to the port of Paphos. Our last trip that day was Petra tou Romiou - a rock located on water where, according to legend, Aphrodite emerged from the waves. It was a place I will remember for a long time because I liked the rocks, the sea and pebble beaches the most. It was truly wonderfully. I finally met my partner Thanasi and his family. Then we went to his house. I feel really like at home with this family. His mother is very nice and cooked delicious dinner. I have a lot in common with my partner's sister, e.g. music and dance. His brother is funny and it was impossible to get bored with him.
Day 2. On this day, we went to school and built the LEGO robot. We had workshops which were very interesting. I met friends, my partner and I saw how the lessons in Cyprus are like. It was an interesting experience even, if I didn't understand a single word. When we came back from school, I went to my friend's because my Cypriot partner had lessons of Maths. Me and my friend with her partner attended a badminton training. It was very funny because we were able to play with him. I spent time with nice people. At the end of the day we met all the participants of the exchange in one of the parks where we became a bit closer to each other.
Day 3. It was a day I've been waiting for a very long time. The heat outside, a hot beach and a clear sea. That day was just perfect. In the evening, I spent time with my partner, his sister, my friend and her partner. We went to one of the schools. It was dark outside and we played hide and seek. It was cool.
Day 4. Well, another day at school. That time we programmed the LEGO robot. It was a very difficult task but it turned out to be very simple with my team. Solving Maths and Physics problems was also challenging but exciting. After a few hours, all of the students celebrated the Independence Day of Cyprus. We also had some contribution in this ceremony - we sang Polish songs. We also saw a lot of Cypriot traditions.
Day 5. It was a free day - no trips, no school. On that day, I went with my family to Nicosia where we met up with my friends, we walked around the various shops and my partner's mom showed and told me about many buildings located in this town. Then, we went to the park with a petting zoo. Next, we ate some delicious donuts. It was a wonderful day, honestly!!
Day 6. And again the day right from my dreams - the beach again! We visited Kurion. Yet it was very hot but pleasantly spent day. Then, we met with friends and we had a nice time together.
Day 7. That day, we went to the mall for lunch and we did some long shopping. It was something I liked most. In the evening, we went to the market where my partner's mother bought me a lot of souvenirs and showed me their Church.
Day 8. It was rather an unpleasant day - we were meant to go to the mountains, but due to my health problems I ended up in the hospital. I received medications via IV therapy, was released home after 2 hours and slept up to 5 PM. In the evening, I went with my partner for a walk and met up with my friends.
Day 9. The next day at school. That time we designed robots of our ideas and created a mini-dictionaries of robotics. These were a bit challenging tasks. Writing in Greek is very difficult but still it was very interesting. Then, I went to my friend's place and met up with half of the exchange participants. It was very cool, yet another day spent perfectly.
Day 10. That day we went to Nicosia to do some shopping and watched the landscape of Cyprus. When we came back, Thanasis took me on a bike ride around his village, and then we had a blast with Ala and her partner - we watched movies, scared ourselves up, we ate dinner together and we talked late in the evening. It was the last day that it seems to me that it was one of the best days of the exchange in Cyprus .
Day 11. It was very sad to leave my friends. When I saw the bus and people watching us leave - it made my eyes sweat. Thank God there is Skype we can use to communicate with each other. I loved my partner and his family. I would definitely like to go back to live with them once more.
