Water sports are very popular these days. These include sports which are performed atop a body of water, in the water or under water.

Canoeing:

It is a sport or recreational activity which involves paddling a canoe with a single-bladed paddle. There is also more extreme kind of canoeing - a whitewater canoeing. Whitewater canoeing is the sport of paddling a canoe on a moving body of water, typically a whitewater river.

Angling : Angling is a method of fishing by means of an fish hook. The hook is usually attached to a fishing line and the line is often attached to a fishing rod. Angling is usually a type of hobby and is treated as recreational activity.

Under water sports : Underwater rugby :

It is a game played underwater which has some similarities to rugby football. Two teams, each with six players, try to score goals by sending a slightly negatively buoyant ball into the opponents' goal placed on the bottom of the pool. It is played under water in a pool with a depth of 3.5m to 5m and goals at the bottom of the pool.

Underwater hockey:

It is a globally played limited-contact sport in which two teams compete to manoeuvre a puck across the bottom of a swimming pool into the opposing team's goal by propelling it with a pusher. Games consist of two halves of typically ten to fifteen minutes.

Sports in the water: Modern pentathlon : The modern pentathlon is an Olympic sport that comprises five events including two of being held in water. Those are freestyle swimming and show jumping. The first official competition was held in England in 1880. The sport has been a core sport of the Olympic Games since 1912.

Swimming : It is a type of a physical exercise that is essential for proper health. Swimming is primarily an aerobic exercise due to the long exercise time, requiring a constant oxygen supply to the muscles. As with most aerobic exercise, swimming is believed to reduce the harmful effects of stress. Swimming can also improve posture. Â
