For the second consecutive year, the ceremony was held at the Gabarron Foundation in NY, a terrific group of personalities from the cultural, science and political world enfolded the Gala. We should remember that the main goal of the Gabarron Foundation is to “Create awareness through the Arts”, organizing exhibitions and educational programs. Within this mission, there is a focus on helping emerging artists; on fostering the relations between the American continent and Spain; and encouraging the safeguard of the excellence, the generosity, the dialogue, the tolerance, the liberty, and the universality through the sciences, the arts, the culture, the sports and economics. The ceremony was masterfully presented by the Carleth Keys, TV star, anchor of NY1 News/Noticias. Cris Gabarron, president of the organization, plentifully remarked the idea “in Valladolid live our roots and in New York gravitates our explorer and dreamer spirit”. In the end, “The United States are a Hispanic Nation and the Spanish culture imbued this country”. Thus, “the geopolitics made that more than two thirds of United States were Spanish soil, from Alaska to Florida, crossing California, Texas, Nevada, New Mexico…; some of them for centuries. Due to this heritage, the Hispanic impression is present in all the toponymy of this great nation that is the United States of America”

Emotionally moved, the psychiatrist Luis Rojas Marcos spoke with great humility the recognition of this award, stated as “a tremendous illusion”, and recalled his origins as an immigrant arriving to New York in 1968, without knowing English, and only thanks to have had exceptional mentors he has achieved to make his way in the asphalt jungle. Thomas Rosandich spoke of the importance of sport and the desire to improve it for the development of the human capacities, while Abhijit Banerjee expressed gratitude, also with great humility, of the importance of solidarity and finding minds that work together to bring awareness to this global scourge that is poverty.
