Over the past 21 years, Gabriola artists have opened up their studio, gallery, and workshop doors all year long to welcome you into their space and share their work: a fabulous way to meet the creators of wonderful pieces of art. With more than 65 studios open on Thanksgiving weekend, and many open year-round, you can visit Gabriola Island artists in their studios as soon as you step off the ferry. All you need is this comprehensive brochure and a love of the arts. Gabriola’s Studio Tour has been a success since its inception 21 years ago, and continues to be one of the grandest fine-art events in the northwest. From art for your wall to art for your hand, the Gabriola Tour is every art enthusiast’s dream—a dynamic showcase for artists working in all media: ceramics, glass, photography, acrylics, watercolour, silver, basketry, leather, mixed media, textiles, wood, and more. Start at Tour Central with the Preview Gallery! The Preview Gallery this year is at the newly renovated Gabriola Arts & Heritage Centre. Find us at 476 South Road, at the top of the hill as you come off the ferry! The gallery will be filled to the brim on Thanksgiving weekend with art from every Tour artist. Pick your favourites and choose your route, especially if you can’t make it to all 65 studios but you want to see all the art! An informed guide will be available all weekend long to answer your questions.

Start at the Preview Gallery (located at Tour Central: Gabriola Arts & Heritage Centre) where work from all Studio Tour artists will be on display. Wear comfy shoes! Slip-ons are a good idea. Watch for our white flags and special road signs to guide you. Keep up your strength! Stop at one of Gabriola’s restaurants or cafés for a sustaining lunch, or—if the sun is shining—order a picnic lunch to go. The island has numerous locations for a beautiful seaside meal. Join in on the fun and complete a Studio Passport along with an evaluation form (available at the back of this brochure and at every studio). It’s your chance to win a great prize!
