Introduction It’s a fact. Everything we say and do in our business activities either enhances or diminishes the perception of our Civica brand. The way people think about Civica is influenced by many things. It involves the way we present ourselves as an organisation, our products and services and our behaviour. At the heart of the brand is our identity, our visual means of identifying Civica. The appearance of our letters, documents and reports, our advertising and promotion, our use of colour and symbols - all have a bearing on our reputation. If we are to succeed, corporate identity must be an important asset. A single, cohesive brand image will greatly enhance our presence with the public and with our customers. The Civica signature combines the two most important visual elements of our brand - the Civica symbol and the Civica logotype. The logo is the primary expression of the company’s new identity. Its proper application and reinforcement is essential for promoting and protecting the value of our brand. Consistent, appropriate use of standardised communications is also important if we are not to dilute the impact of our identity. This booklet is designed to help you use our identity correctly. It introduces the basic principles of our corporate identity system and provides guidance on its frequent use in the working environment. For any non-standard use, please contact your local Marketing team. I, and my colleagues on the Board, ask that you follow the guidelines closely.

Civica identity manual
The Civica logotype Only one logotype represents Civica. This consists of two specially created elements, the Civica people ‘C’ and the Civica namestyle. To maintain the effectiveness of these elements they must never be altered, recreated or redrawn. Only use the digital artwork available on the master artwork CD, when reproducing the logotype.
The Civica logotype is a specially drawn artwork and the Civica namestyle is not available on any typesetting system. The elements should never be re-drawn, stretched, squeezed or distorted in any way. It is therefore essential that the brand mark is always reproduced from the master artwork supplied with the CD accompanying this document.
Landscape version The landscape version of the Civica logotype is the preferred version to use, where size and space permits. Portrait version The portrait version of the Civica logotype is only to be used when due to space constraints the preferred version cannot be used. An example of this would be portrait signage situations.

Exclusion zone and minimum size An exclusion zone has been created around the logotype. No other visual matter such as other logos, text or pictures should encroach upon this area.
Exclusion zone In order for the logotype to maintain its strength and clarity it should always remain uncluttered. The area indicated by the box rule forms the exclusion zone. No other visual elements such as text, illustrations, graphic devices, logotypes or photographs should ever encroach upon this area. When using the Civica logotype in conjunction with another company’s logo, ensure that the two are of similar visual size and prominence.
Minimum size It is not recommended to reproduce the logotype smaller than 35mm in width. If you have any small reproduction requirements, please discuss this with your local Marketing contact. Software icon design An icon is available in the following sizes: 16x16 pixels and 32x32 pixels. A digital copy of the icon is available on the CD included with this manual.

Corporate colours Colour plays an important role in the Civica identity. When correctly managed colour will help to create coherence in all the varied applications of the identity. All of the logotypes shown opposite are acceptable uses of the Civica identity and are available in high resolution format on the CD included with this manual. Ifyou have any queries regarding their use please discuss with your local marketing contact. This sheet may be used as a proofing guide when matching Civica corporate colours. Please do not scale any of the provided artwork up in size as this will affect the quality. Should you need any artwork at a larger size than has been provided, please discuss with your local marketing contact. Pantone colours The Civica corporate colours are mixed to prescribed formulae under the Pantone Matching System® (PMS). Care should be taken that all items match as closely as possible to the colour swatches in Section 8 of this manual. Any printed item should be proofed to allow checking prior to printing and a proof signed off as being a correct match. Different stocks can affect colour matching and specific colours are specified for uncoated and uncoated stock. Uncoated stock is considered to be matt in finish and coated stock to be glossy in finish. On coated stock The Civica namestyle should print Pantone® 2735 C Purple and the Civica people ‘C’ should print Pantone® 8401 C Silver. On uncoated stock The Civica namestyle should print Pantone® 2735 U Purple and the Civica people ‘C’ should print Pantone® 8401 U Silver. Four colour process The Civica namestyle should print 96% Cyan, 100% Magenta, 0% Yellow and 0% Black, and the Civica people ‘C’ should print 3% Cyan, 0% Magenta, 0% Yellow and 32% Black. Paint and vinyl Paint colours for signage should be matched to the corporate pantone colours. On screen RGB colors The Civica namestyle should be set up as R: 67, G: 8 & B: 142 and the Civica people ‘C’ should be R: 191, G: 194 & B: 195
Standard two colour and one colour reproduction on white The logotype appears on a white background in three standard colourways: the metallic Silver Pantone ®8401 and the Purple Pantone® 2735, All Purple Pantone® 2735, and All Black.
Standard two colour and one colour reproduction on a Pantone® 8401 Silver tint The logotype can appear on a tint background of Pantone ®8401 Silver. Although care should be taken that the background silver tint is sufficently light to allow legibility, it is recommended that the tint does not print any greater than a 30% strength of Pantone ®8401 Silver. The example shown prints 20% of Pantone ®8401 Silver. Standard two colour and one colour reproduction on a Pantone® 2735 Purple tint The logotype can appear on a tint background of Pantone® 2735 Purple. Corporate typeface Consistent typography is an important element of the Civica identity system. The Evo typeface family has been chosen as the Civica corporate typeface. Please ensure that Evo is the primary typeface used on all forms of Civica communications.
Berthold Evo This face is a modern sans serif which is crisp, elegant and highly legible. It is suitable to use for headings and main text. It has strong legibility across the family of eight weights. If you do not have the Berthold Evo typeface, please refer to your local Marketing contact.
Secondary Typeface for PC use: Arial We have selected the font Arial as a secondary use typeface to be used if Berthold Evo is unavailable to the user.

On becoming independent, one of the key issues that Moray Council had to address was the installation of its own technology systems to support internal processes for administering these community services.
Formerly part of Grampian Regional Council, Moray became an independent local authority following the disaggregation of the Scottish Regional Councils in the mid 1990s. Moray Council is now wholly responsible for running a full range of public sector services in the area.
The district of Moray, in the North East of Scotland, is home to a population of 86,250, comprising 39,000 domestic households as well as businesses operating in the fishing, boat building, textile, farming and local food industries. Moray also plays host to many tourists each year, who are attracted by the area’s beaches, salmon rivers and unusual coastal wildlife.

In order to encourage prompt payment of Council Tax, Moray wanted to streamline its collection operation by making related documentation and processes as accessible and understandable as possible to Council Tax payers.
The Civica system covers a number of key areas including Council Tax, Benefits, Business Rates, Debt Recovery, DIP and Workflow Management.
Following a competitive tender, Moray awarded the contract to provide a Revenues and Benefits system to Civica (then Sanderson) in 1998.
These include providing Council Tax payers with better access to clear, personalised documentation explaining the revenues they owe for the current year as well as any outstanding debt from the past.
Moray Council uses Civica’s Revenue and Benefits system for internal processing of Council Tax bills and liabilities. The system has been tailored to take advantage of recent changes in Scottish legislation to Council Tax collections as well as supporting the council’s own internally developed policies to improve the process.

Thanks to a streamlined Council Tax processing initiative, Moray Council has seen a major improvement to the amount of revenue recovered from domestic households, cutting the number of final notices issued in the region from 13,500 in 2000 to only 5,500 in 2001.

Signage All signage uses the two colour landscape logotype on a white background where appropriate. The two colour portrait logotype on a white background can be used on square or portrait ratio size signage.

Basic principles When producing signage, please ensure with the signage contractor that the paints/vinyls to be used match the Civica corporate colours. The Civica namestyle should print Pantone® 2735 C Purple and the Civica people ‘C’ should print Pantone® 8401 C Silver. x
Signs should be made from materials that complement individual buildings. Care should be taken that signs conform to local planning regulations.

Promotional items Care should be taken that the items chosen are of an appropriate quality.
Positioning the logotype Due to large numbers and varied style of items to which the logotype will be applied, it is impossible to provide specific guidelines on positioning. The logotype should however normally appear in the standard positioning shown earlier in this manual. Care should be taken not to infringe on the specified exclusion zone with other graphic devices or logos. For many items the logotype should appear white out of corporate colours. Gold foil embossing should be avoided but the logotype may appear in white or silver foiling.
