PREAMBLE YOU WILL FIND THE COMPUTER FILES REQUIRED FOR THE REPRODUCTION OF THE PRINCIPLES PRESENTED IN THIS BOOK. SOME OF THEM ARE INTENDED FOR YOUR SERVICE PROVIDERS FOR HIGH DEFINITION REPRODUCTION AND ARE IN ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR PC OR MACINTOSH FORMAT (FILES WITH THE EXTENSION .EPS).

OTHERS ARE IN POSTSCRIPT PC OF MACINTOSH FORMAT AND CONTAIN THE LION TYPOGRAPHY USED FOR THE PRODUCT NAMES. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD THEM ONTO YOUR COMPUTER SIMPLY BY CLICKING ON THE FILE REFERENCE (E.G.: F_01-EPS).

PEUGEOT COMMUNICATION HAS DEVELOPED A VISUAL TERRITORY IN ORDER TO ENHANCE ITS VISIBILITY, IMPACT AND RECOGNITION. IT IS BASED ON THE BLUE BRAND WHICH BRINGS TOGETHER ALL THE ELEMENTS WHICH IDENTIFY PEUGEOT (THE NAME, THE LION, THE SQUARE, THE BLUE) FOR CONCENTRATED EFFECTIVENESS. IT IS MADE UP OF STRONG, DISTINCT GRAPHIC ELEMENTS AND SIMPLE APPLICATION RULES FOR THE DIFFERENT ADVERTISING MEDIA. THIS SYSTEM IS PRECISE BUT NOT RESTRICTIVE AND COMBINES CREATIVE FREEDOM WITH THE STRENGTH OF THE BRAND TO CREATE A MAGIC FORMULA!

Note the proportions, which have been optimised to project balance and the two colours: the blue background and the black in the highlight and the lion’s shadow. The name and the lion must always be white, even when printed over a coloured background.

The Blue Brand is to be used in all media. This colour version should be used rather than any other version and must be reproduced exclusively using the original computer files (see the CD at the end of this document). This is vital to its success!

Mieux vaut un lion lisible que pas de lion du tout : en dessous de 15 mm de côté, et lorsque l’impression s’effectue en faible trame, la reproduction du tramé

du reflet pose souvent des difficultés.

Dans ce cas, on applique la version simplifiée, en bleu (supports couleurs) ou en noir (supports noir et blanc).

It is better to have a clear lion than no lion at all. If the side measures less than 15 mm and is printed with a light screen, it is often difficult to reproduce the screen tint of the

APPLICATIONS SUR FONDS DIVERS APPLICATIONS ON VARIOUS BACKGROUNDS

La Blue Brand s’applique sans problème à peu près sur tous supports : fonds photo clairs ou contrastés, aplats, motifs… Quasiment tout lui est permis. Bien entendu, pour garantir sa lisibilité et la reconnaissance

de la forme du carré, la Blue Brand en couleurs ne s’applique jamais sur un fond bleu institutionnel ou approchant, ni en version noire, sur un fond noir.

The Blue Brand can be used on virtually any background: dark or light coloured photographs, solid colors, motifs, etc. The possibilities are almost endless. Of course, to ensure legibility and recognition

of the square shape, the colour version of the Blue Brand must never be set against Peugeot blue or a similar shade and the black version of the Brand must never appear against a black or dark background.

La publicité Peugeot utilise deux familles de caractères : la Lion, qui identifie les produits et seulement eux, et la Gill, dont toutes les versions peuvent être utilisées pour composer les textes d’accroches, body copies, mentions légales…

La Lion sert à composer le nom des produits. Le nom du modèle (307, Partner…) et ses caractéristiques (HDI, Coupé…) sont composés dans le même corps. Les caractères et leur alignement ne doivent jamais être modifiés.

Peugeot advertisements use two fonts: Lion, which is only used for the names of Peugeot products, and all versions of Gill which can be used for headlines, body copies, legal references, etc.

Lion is used for the product names.

The name of the model (307, Partner, etc.) and its characteristics (HDI, Coupé, etc.) are in the same type size. The characters and their alignment must never be altered.

F_10 Pour laisser l’essentiel de l’annonce au visuel, tous les niveaux d’information hormis l’accroche sont rassemblés dans un cartouche, ajustable en hauteur en fonction de la quantité d’information : body copy, signature de marque, signature produit, visuels secondaires, bloc-produit.

La signature de marque ou la signature produit est placée en bas du cartouche alignée en pied sur la base des lettres du nom Peugeot.

Quand les deux signatures doivent apparaître sur la même annonce, la signature produit se place dans l’accroche ou en tête de la body copy.

CAPITAL (Caps) Capital letters.

CHARACTER – FONT – TYPE SET Alphabet, figures and signs created on the basis of the same design forming a unique, recognisable graphic group which can be adapted in different styles.

CROMALIN Colour photographic proof with a shiny appearance created using films which can be used to control the successful implementation of photoengraving.

GILL Name of the character typography used by Peugeot as the main typography for its advertisements.

The right to use this typography is subject to the granting of a licence.

HEADLINE In advertising, the phrase which is given most emphasis. It is generally fairly short, creates a strong impact and stands out from the visual condensing the concept of the advertising campaign itself.

IMPORTER’S LOGO Graphic element which represents the company, a service or a partner associated with the importer.

IMPRINTING Printing in a reserved area on a document which has already been printed.

EUREKA Name of the character typography used to accompany Peugeot publications in addition to the Gill font. The right to use a typography is subject to the granting of a licence in accordance with the national regulations of each country.

INSET Rectangular form which contains graphic elements (text, colour or visuals).

FOUR-COLOUR Reproduction of a colour document using three primary colours (yellow, magenta, cyan) in addition to the complementary colour, black.

These compositions can be used as equivalents to the Pantone colour references.

LABEL Distinctive graphic element confirming the quality or guaranteeing a specific product or service associated with the brand (e.g. “the 206 WRC winners”, “Car of the year”).

ITALICS A style of letters sloping to the right in contrast to the Roman style.

LETTER SPACING Space between the letters in a text (character spacing).

LINE SPACING Space between two lines of a text expressed in points and measured between the bottom of the letters.

LONG BLOCK PRODUCT Composition of the product name made up of 6 characters or 3 figures followed by 2 characters, adjusted in line with the “Blue Brand” block brand.

LOWER CASE Small letters.

MONOCHROME Reproduction of a document in a single colour.

PACKSHOT Visual of a single product integrated in the form of an illustration in advertisements.

PANTONE International tester for colour references used in printing.

POINTS Unit of measurement for the type size of a letter or the thickness of a technical lead line.

REVERSE A text or a graphic element is reserved on a background (colour or visual) when it is reproduced as a negative on this background. These elements are generally reserved in white.

ROMAN A style of letters with vertical structuring lines in contrast to the italic style.

SCREEN Structure of points reproducing the values of the original. The higher the number of the frame, the finer the frame.
