SOTTO LA CUTE DELLA “Sotto la cute della terra”, da lì inizia il sogno di nascere, di ergersi oltre quella resistenza, oltre quel buio, fuori di quel ventre. Nel buio inizia l’ascolto. E l’Oriente indica il silenzio della meditazione, l’aprirsi della coscienza alla luce, lungo stazioni necessarie. A ciascuna stazione altro è il vedere. Così il suono si pone in viaggio, in una fuoriuscita “impura”, dialoga con l’alterità, ne accoglie il tempo senza direzione univoca, si dilata in onde circolari. Nel trascendere la polarità di comporre e interpretare, di fare e ascoltare, suscita disposizioni. Non afferma l’espressione, apre spazi alla contemplazione. Conosce l’energia del movimento, non il dramma, e nella insistenza delle figure si fa esperienza di prossimità allo stato di “trance”. Fuori dei generi e delle forme canoniche, al farsi della musica la coscienza attinge la possibilità di liberare, “oltre la cute della terra”, il proprio volto, l’anima. “Tutto il resto diviene allora superfluo, l’anima è libertà, non c’è più bisogno di cercarla.” // GIUSEPPE CALLIARI

“Under the world’s skin”, that’s where we dream to be born, to elevate ourselves beyond that resistance, that darkness, out of the womb. In the darkness the listening begins. The Orient shows the silence of meditation and through necessary stages, awareness opens itself to brightness. At each stage the way things are seen becomes different . This is how the sound starts its trip in an “impure” spillage, talks about something else, takes time to go in several directions, distends itself into circular waves. Going beyond the polarity of composing and performing, doing and listening, the sound generates states of minds. It doesn’t create an expression and gives time for contemplation. It knows the energy of movement, not the drama and in the repetition of forms, it seems to enter into a trance. Besides the standardized shapes, while music is playing, consciousness gets the chance to free itself “beyond the world’s skin”, it’s own face and soul. “Then all the rest becomes superfluous, soul is freedom, there is no more need to seek for it.” // GIUSEPPE CALLIARI

Praful U. Mitterstainer è nato a Merano e riceve i primi insegnamenti musicali e strumentali nella locale scuola di musica. Segue un periodo di diversi anni durante i quali studia con i professori E. Ferretti, I. Cavagna e M. Spirk, periodo che termina con il conseguimento del diploma di Violino presso il Conservatorio Statale “V. Gianferrari” di Trento. Di interesse particolare per la sua formazione è il contatto con il violinista Dénes Zsigmondy che segue in numerosi corsi di perfezionamenti. L’interesse per la musica indiana e per la musica improvvisata in generale lo spingono a scoprire lo strumento al di là della dimensione interpretativa. Oltre all’insegnamento, dal ’95 lavora con il gruppo OTeM, con il quale sono stati pubblicati 3 CD (OTeM, Anima, Cantico).
Praful U. Mitterstainer ist in Meran geboren, wo er auch an der Musikschule seinen ersten Geigenunterricht erhält. In den Jahren unmittelbar nach der Matura studiert er mit E. Ferretti, I. Cavagna und M. Spirk. Sein Diplom erhält er am staatlichen Konservatorium „V. Gianferrari“ in Trient. Von besonderer Bedeutung für seine musikalische Entwicklung ist der Kontakt zum Geiger Dénes Zsigmondy, dessen Meisterkurse er besucht. Sein Interesse für die indische Musik und für andere Arten improvisierter Musik regt ihm dazu an allmählich auch eigene Ausdrucksformen zu suchen, jenseits der Musikinterpretation. Neben seiner musikpädagogischen Tätigkeit arbeitet er seit ’95 mit der Gruppe OTeM, mit der 3 CD’s erschienen sind (OTeM, Anima, Cantico).
Praful U. Mitterstainer was born in Merano. He began studying violin at his local school. After high school he studied with professor E. Ferretti, I. Cavagna and M. Spirk. He graduated at the National Academy of Music, called “Conservatorio V. Gianferrari”. Of particular interest in his career was the contact with the violinist Dénes Zsigmondy, followed by several specialised courses. His interest in Indian music and improvised music in general, pushed him to search, little by little, for his own forms of expression beyond musical interpretation. He has been teaching, since 1995, and is currently working together with the group “OteM”. Together they have published 3 CDs (OteM, Anima, Cantico).
ROTA Das Rad als Hilfsmittel auf äußeren Wegen – Sinnbild der Wanderschaft –, wird zum Steuerrad der Innenwelt im Gewirr des sich dauernd Verändernden. Klangstationen als Ruheplätze auf der Pilgerschaft.

Il maestro e ricercatore (come ama definirsi) di liuteria Eduard Kugler sviluppa le sue conoscenze al di fuori di ogni istituzione accademica. Entra in profondità delle materie attraverso decenni di sperimentazione per attingere a una propria visione di costruzione che supera la scolastica ricostruzione. La ricerca lo porta alla riscoperta di certi procedimenti quasi alchimici degli antichi maestri liutai, ma lo costringe allo stesso tempo all’invenzione di certi dettagli quando le soluzioni tradizionali non sono riproponibili. Dal 1985 Praful U. Mitterstainer suona un violino Kugler.
Der Geigenbaumeister und -forscher (wie er sich zu Recht sieht) Eduard Kugler entwickelt seine Kenntnisse unabhängig von gängigen geigenbauerischen Institutionen. Er vertieft sein Wissen und Können in jahrzehntelanger Experimentiererei und entwickelt eine eigene Vision des Geigenbaus jenseits der schulmäßigen Rekonstruktion. Sein Forschen läßt ihn die fast alchimistischen Techniken wiederentdecken, derer sich die alten italienischen Geigenbaumeister bedienten. Allerdings ist er auch gezwungen immer wieder Details zu überdenken und neu zu gestalten, wenn alte Lösungen nicht so ohne weiteres anwendbar sind. Praful U. Mitterstainer spielt seit 1985 auf einer Kugler-Geige.
The violin master and researcher (as he likes to call himself) Eduard Kugler developed his knowledge outside of academic institutions. He added a lot of experimentation to his work until he found his own vision of construction besides educational reconstruction. His research led him to discover an almost alchemical procedure of ancient violin masters but at the same time it forced him to invent certain procedures when traditional solutions were not applicable. Praful U. Mitterstainer has been playing a Kugler violin since 1985.
