certainly is true as we celebrate the 135th Anniversary of our church. It doesn’t feel like twelve years have passed since I celebrated the 123rd Anniversary with you shortly after my arrival the first Sunday in June 2001. Yet the calendar declares it to be true. I commend the 2013 Anniversary Planning Committee for their “Excellent” work in preparing for this month long celebration. Please take a moment to say thank you when you see them. The committee has chosen a wonderful theme for 2013 ... “Celebrating
our Heritage Through Unity in the Body of Christ.” Psalm 133:1 and Ephesians 4:1-16 epitomize our theme because, when a small
band of baptized believers in Christ prayerfully organized themselves in 1878 it was a spirit of “Unity” in Christ that guided their efforts. The result of their prayerful efforts was the birth of Central Union Missionary Baptist Church. Unity in the body of Christ was a foundational principle in the beginning of our church and 135 years later it is the bedrock of our present and future. The founders, Rev er en ds Hen ry Felder and George Jackson, Deacons Wilson Wood, Bob Robinson and Major Felder are no longer around. However, just as they were in “Unity” with our first pastor, Reverend Ben Benjamin, I am thankful for the “Unity” of the leaders God has placed here during my tenure as the thirteenth pastor
of this historic church. I’m excited about what God has in store for His church during this year’s anniversary celebration. There is something for everyone to take part in and be proud of being a part of this very special family of believers known as Central Union Baptist Church. I encourage each of you to participate in every activity this year and invite your friends; especially family members and others that grew up at Central Union and have either moved away or just drifted away. Tell them the 135th anniversary is a family reunion and you’d love to see them in the house! Happy Anniversary,
K. Daniel Dawsey Pastor/ Teacher

1. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. 2. A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted; 3. A time to kill and a time to heal; a time to break down and a time to build up; 4. A time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance; 5. A time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones together; A time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing; 6. A time to get and a time to lose; a time to keep and a time to cast away; 7. A time to rend and a time to sew; a time to speak and a time to keep silent; 8. A time to love and a time to hate; a time of war and a time of peace. ECCLESIASTES 3:18

The story is told of a father of five children who came home with a toy. He summoned his children and asked which of them should be given the present. "Who is the most obedient one here? Who never talks back to Mom and does everything that Mom says to do?", he inquired. There were a few seconds of silence, and then all of the children said in one accord: "You play with it Daddy!"
