On September 18, 2015, Melissa Denniston Bryant will be inducted into the Kappa Delta Epsilon Honor Society of Mercer University, where she was also named to the President's List in 2014. A 2000 graduate of Wilcox County High School, Melissa received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Darton State College, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in December, 2013. Melissa is a paraprofessional at Wilcox Elementary School. Prior to this, she was a medical transcriptionist for fourteen years. A resident of Rochelle, she is married to Chad Bryant and together they have two sons, Mason age 10, and Easton, age 3. Wiregrass’ Spring Commencement Announced Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is pleased to announce the spring 2015 commencement is scheduled for April 30, 2015. The ceremony will be held at Central Square Complex in Douglas. All program including GED graduation time is 3:00 p.m. This semester we have 201 students graduating with 142 technical certificates, 95 diplomas, and 65 degree programs. Wiregrass will be sharing the stories of a high school student who will earn her college degree before she graduates from high school as well as a story of retired veteran who has overcome odds to complete his degree.

CONGRATULATIONS Congratulations to Eliza Drew Willingham for winning the Blue & Gold Gala Washington Leadership Conference Scholarship. This scholarship gives Drew $780 towards the $965 total cost of the trip with the Georgia FFA Association. WLC is a week long leadership conference where students will travel with other students from Georgia and see the nation's capitol as part of the National FFA Organization. Students will also meet other FFA members from all across the nation while learning leadership, communication, and teamwork skills all while building friendships and connections to last a lifetime. Besides Drew, Tyler Wise will also be attending this amazing conference. A Cultural Experience with the Kuyasa Kids' Choir Horizon International, a Christian relief organization dedicated to creating a world of hope for orphans affected by HIV/AIDS are sponsors of the Kuyasa Kids' Choir . Through music and dance, these talented performers are able to raise awareness and acquire sponsors for children orphaned by the AIDS pandemic. 13 million children under the age of fourteen have been orphaned by AIDS and 12 million of these children live in southern Africa. The 17 member choir from South Africa is made up of children ages 8-18 who were selected from over 240 students that auditioned. Each year they travel to a different region of the United States. The word Kuyasa means hope and through their performances, they are able to gain sponsors and bring hope to orphans in South Africa. Most recently, they have performed throughout the Southeastern states and are completing their tour in churches and schools in the Cordele area. On Monday, April 13, 2015 PASS held its monthly family engagement. Wilcox County M/High PASS students were excited to welcome and interact with the guest choral group and sang a selection from High School Musical that set the tone for the international visitors. Students, families and members of the community were then treated to a performance by the Kuyasa Kids' Choir. Winston Clark, of Horizon International and Hal Slade of Cordele answered questions and had materials available for those wishing to make a donation or sponsor a child. Guests enjoyed a spaghetti meal and a time of fellowship. Our next family engagement will be May 11th and will feature PASS M/High students in a Readers' Theatre skit.
