Dimes Make a Difference at WCES WCES students showed awesome support for the fight against cancer with a Relay for Life Project collecting dimes. Classes were asked to fill as many 16 oz. water bottles with dimes as they could in the allotted time. A water bottle filled with dimes equals around $100. Students brought in dimes daily. They were excited about giving to a good cause. Teachers said that some students took money from piggy banks and looked around the house for all the dimes they could find. What generous hearts! WCES students and teachers raised $2,700! Every dime makes a difference in the fight against cancer!

Wilcox 4-H Poultry Judging The Wilcox County Poultry Judging Team traveled to Tifton recently for Area Competition with several other counties. The children have a study guide and power point that they review several weeks before competition and they learn how to grade exterior quality in eggs, broken out eggs, candle eggs, parts identification, whole carcass, live birds and many other aspects of poultry judging. This year our live birds were named "SuAnna", all eight of them. The chickens that we practice with are White Leghorn Hens. Team members this year were: Seniors Robert Bishop, Katie Caruso, Kelly Childers, and Kacey McWhorter. The junior team members were Jackson Clements, Jessie Nichols, Justin Nichols, and Lori Sutton. Robert Bishop was unable to attend competition due to a prior engagement. The Senior Team placed 6th out of 14 teams and the Junior Team placed 10th out of 15 teams. Great job guys! The Senior individual placings were: Kelly Childers-15th; Katie Caruso-21st; and Kacey McWhorter 27th out of 51 Senior individuals. The Junior individual placings were: Justin Nichols-15th; Lori Sutton-37th; Jessie Nichols-63rd; and Jackson Clements-104th out of 116 individuals. These guys did a great job!

Wilcox County Project S.A.F.E. BB Team recently attended the District Qualification Match held in neighboring Tift County. Earlier in the month we held the county match to help determine the team placements. We have three teams this year, The Gold Team, the White Team and the Blue Team. The "White Team" members are: Chase Calhoun, Kristi Childers, Nolan Gaines, Thomas Harper, Judge McDonald, Emilee Munger, and Ryan Stephens. The "Blue Team" members are: Levi Hudson, Trace Jones, Blaine Layfield, Cam McBryde, Kassi Payne, and Lori Sutton. The "Gold Team" members are: Gage Anderson, Clark Gaines, Mollie Shedd, Macy Stokesberry, Dylan Tabor, and Madison Terry. There were 17 teams total vying for that first place title and the Wilcox County teams placed as follows: "Gold Team" finished second, the "White Team" finished 8th, and the "Blue Team" finished 13th overall at the district match in Tifton. Way to go guys! Placing individually were: Prone position: Clark Gaines, 5th; Mollie Shedd 7th and Macy Stokesberry 8th. In the Kneeling position: C. Gaines 2nd; M. Shedd 5th; and Kristi Childers 10th. Sitting position: M. Shedd 1st and Standing position: M. Stokesberry 5th and C. Gaines 7th. These places were out of 102 shooters. Great job guys! This year's team members are Gage Anderson, Chase Calhoun, Kristi Childers, Clark Gaines, Nolan Gaines, Thomas Harper, Levi Hudson, Trace Jones, Blaine Layfield, Cam McBryde, Judge McDonald, Emilee Munger, Kassi Payne, Mollie Shedd, Ryan Stephens, Macy Stokesberry, Lori Sutton, Dylan Tabor, and Madison Terry.
