Pineview Garden Club Meets Pineview Home and Garden Club met September 9 at the Community Center in Pineview with nine members present. Anelia Miller passed out some magazines on Rada Cutlery. Discussion was made concerning the Pineview Festival. Motion was made that we get mums to plant in the pots that are in the park. Eugenia Helms brought the program on compost pile. Refreshments were enjoyed by all.

Wilcox County Youth to Celebrate
Rochelle, Georgia October 5, 2014 — More than 6 million young people across the country today will celebrate National 4-H Week, an annual celebration of 4-H during the first full week of October. Wilcox 4-H will leverage National 4-H Week this year to showcase the great things that 4-H offers young people and highlights the incredible 4-H youth in the community who work each day to make a positive impact on the community. Wilcox County will be celebrating by recorded announcements by the 4-H'ers on the local radio station, the 4-H flag will be flying high and proud at Wilcox County Elementary, Wilcox County Middle and Wilcox County High Schools during the week. The students, faculty and staff are being asked to wear GREEN in support and recognition of National 4-H Week on Thursday, October 9th. We will also offer “Breakfast in a Cup” (grits, sausage, cheese) to our local bankers! We receive so much support from EVERYONE in the community but our banks and their staff always go above and beyond for us too. All employees and bank officers and presidents are asked to please stop by the 4-H office between the hours of 8:00 to 9:00am on Wednesday October 8th, 2014 and get your “Breakfast in a Cup”. You can get it to go or sit with us and enjoy! When asked to make a speech, the students have no hesitation in standing in front of a crowd of 3 or 300. 4-H does make a difference and I am very proud to be associated with this organization,” said Sara Sercer, Wilcox County 4-H Associate. One of the fastest growing programs available to the youth of Wilcox County is the Robotics Program. Through Robotics children learn STEM, ((Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) while they are “playing with robots and Lego's”! Research has proven that participation in 4-H has a significant positive impact on young people. Recent findings from the Tufts University 4-H Study of Positive Youth Development indicate that, when compared to their peers, young people in 4-H are: ? Nearly four times more likely to contribute to their communities, ? Two times more likely to pursue healthy behaviors like, and ? Two times more likely to engage in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs in the out-of-school time. In Wilcox County, more than 300 4-H youth and 50 volunteers from the community are involved in 4-H. Also during National 4-H Week, hundreds of thousands of youth from all around the nation will complete a single, innovative experiment on 4-H National Youth Science Day, which will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014. The 2014 National Science Experiment Rockets to the Rescue, will task youth to design and build an aerodynamic food transportation device that can deliver a payload of nutritious food to fictitious disaster victims. Youth will learn engineering concepts, develop math skills, learn about nutrition and help solve a relevant, global issue.
