The Georgia Coroner's Association held its annual conference in September in Macon, Georgia. During that meeting, Wilcox County Coroner, Janice B. Brown, was elected to serve the association as Second Vice President. Election to this office means that in two years she will serve as President of the association. Janice was elected coroner in 2009 and is currently serving her second term. Since becoming Coroner, she has helped to implement burial ordinances for Wilcox County and its cities. She is active in the Georgia Coroner's Association and volunteers for Abbeville Fire/Rescue, The American Red Cross, Wild Hog Festival, and works for Osceola Cotton Company, Ocilla, GA. According to outgoing president, David Exley, “Janice was a wonderful choice to fill this position because of the leadership qualities she possesses, not just to the association but also in her community. It is an honor to be elected to serve on the board because you know you have earned the trust and respect of all the coroners in Georgia. She will do a great job.” Janice and her husband Larry have a daughter and son in law, Brandy and Judd, and grandchildren, Rylan and Jacey. She loves horses, fishing, hunting, camping, boating, and most of all spending time with her family.

From the Desk of Rochelle Councilwoman Vickie V. Kemp First I would like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for enabling me to walk again. Second, I thank each and everyone for their prayers, calls and visits during my down time. The out pouring of love was truly amazing. Now that I am walking again; I made the decision to walk in the mornings. My daily walk has given me an opportunity to see our city in a different light. I have seen trash in yards, bushes and on the ground; it is dishearting. During my walk, I pickup as much trash as I possibly can. The trash isn’t thrown in one area, but throughout the entire city. As citizens of Rochelle, it is our duty to keep it clean. I need your help. Please look around your neighborhood and pickup any trash that is in your area. I know you did not put it there, but please pick it up. If we are going to have a clean community, it begins with you. Join me in a Clean Community Project, Councilwornan, Vickie V. Kemp; with the support of the Mayor and the Rochelle City Council.
