PASS Students Celebrate Thanksgiving with Families On Monday, November 17, 2014 over 50 guests joined the Patriot Academy for School Success for a Thanksgiving Celebration. Susan Cravey, Family Engagement Coordinator welcomed the group and introduced Vicki Brown along with members of the WCHS Chorus. Patriotic songs included The Star Spangled Banner, a duet featuring Trent Jackson and Kasey McWhorter singing God Bless the USA and I Saw the Light. Jena Rossman, Program Assistant recognized teachers and introduced performing students. 2nd grade students performed :The Turkey 3rd graders Jerky Dance and recited a poem. Alonzo Benjamin and Autumn West 3rd grader, Alonzo Benjamin read: The share poems with Families Thanksgiving Dinner and Autumn West read a poem: Thanksgiving Comes Once a Year. th 4 grader, Daja McNair read a poem: The Pilgrims Came th 5 grader, Destiny Tisdol read a selection entitled :Thanksgiving Observance. th Treasure Conley, 5 grader blessed the meal with a Thanksgiving prayer. Cafeteria Staff Peggy Harris and Wendy Bohannon prepared and served a delicious meal of baked chicken and dressing, green beans, rolls, cranberry sauce and pudding. As the meal concluded, Ginny Clack reminded students and parents of upcoming events including a field trip to the Macon Museum of Arts and Sciences, the November Perfect Attendance Challenge and Christmas Activities. The December Family Engagement will be Monday, December 15. Parents are invited to a “Make and Take” holiday session to be followed by a student performance and refreshments. A letter will be sent home with more information for the event. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend the monthly family engagements. Door prizes were awarded.
