The Next Level
Commercial construction is the foundation of Philadelphia’s past, present, and future. The industry has masterfully shaped our diverse city into a powerhouse of culture and innovation — and is one of the most dynamic forces taking our region to the next level.
While the General Building Contractors Association (GBCA) has been leading the way in commercial construction throughout Greater Philadelphia for more than 130 years, 2022 marks the 25th anniversary of formally recognizing GBCA members’ exceptional work with the Construction Excellence Awards.
As the region’s premier construction awards program, this annual competition continually raises the bar on what it means to be the best of the best.
This year is no exception as our winners level up across the board: building with meticulous craftsmanship, collaborating in extraordinary ways, deploying cutting-edge techniques and technologies, implementing highly successful safety programs, driving meaningful community support, and much more. These are the outstanding people and projects that are propelling Philadelphia to new heights.
Established in 1891, the General Building Contractors Association (GBCA) is one of America’s oldest construction industry trades associations. For over 130 years, the organization has been a powerful force in advancing the commercial, industrial, and institutional construction industry – ensuring the best-trained, highly skilled, and most-trusted contractors lead the charge in the Philadelphia region. Today, the organization unites over 300 general contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers, and service providers.

GBCA’s work never stays the same. Most importantly, we build because we love our city. We build for future generations of Philadelphians both in and out of the construction industry.
