Consecration In a general sense, the term “consecration” refers to the act of dedicating oneself to a specific purpose or intention. To “consecrate” yourself essentially means to wholly dedicate yourself to something of greatest importance. • When spoken plainly, however, “consecration” refers to the act of setting yourself aside and dedicating yourself to a deity, and that deity almost always refers to the God of Christianity. • The term can also be used to refer to ordination into a sacred office. For most believers, however, it only refers to a basic, personal act of dedication. To “consecrate” something, one makes that thing holy or sacred. In that sense, the act of consecration can also be defined as the act of being made sacred.
Fasting Fasting is intentionally abstaining from food (not fluids) for spiritual purposes; it is humbling your soul (Psalm 35:13, Matthew 23:12). Fasting brings you into a deeper, more intimate and powerful relationship with the Lord. Fasting is an act of humility before God to seek His divine intervention in the events of our physical world, it brings revelation by the Holy Spirit of our true spiritual condition, leading to brokenness, repentance, and change, and allows the Holy Spirit to work in a powerful way. Fasting transforms prayer into a richer, more personal experience and draws you closer to God. (James 4:8)
The Purpose of Fasting To seek a life that is set apart to be used by God. Asking God to make us acceptable to him through the blood of Jesus. To take time for self-examination, reflection, and contemplation.
How to Fast 1. DISCREETLY (Matthew 6:17-18 NLT) - “17 But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. 18 Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.” 2. WITH FAITH( Hebrews 11:6 NLT) -“6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek.
Things You Should Know When Fasting 1. During fasting, your body will react, and you may experience hunger, especially if you are fasting for a day or more. Drink water, and the hunger generally goes away. As you progress in your fast beyond the second day, going without food generally becomes easier. But the key is to be feeding your soul by taking in more and more of God’s word and through prayer. 2. Some people experience headaches or body aches. Generally, these are signs of the body expelling toxins and poisons that have been stored for long periods of time. If you find the headaches and body aches severe, you should discontinue fasting (see guidelines below on Breaking the Fast). 3. It’s normal to not have a bowel movement when fasting for more than one day. 4. While fasting, your body is cleansing and healing itself in some ways as your digestive system rests.
5. Adequate rest during your fast is very important.
Breaking the Fast When breaking your fast, you should avoid eating solid food right away. For those who fast for three to five days, the following information is helpful as you break the fast: 1. Begin eating slowly, starting with small portions of uncooked, room temperature green vegetables with an orange squeezed over or lightly steamed vegetables. 2. This can be followed by a low seasoned broth. 3. On the next day, depending on the length of time you’ve fasted (and how you feel physically), you can go on to eating regular meals, taking care to eat smaller portions slowly and to avoid greasy, fried foods. 4. AVOID EATING ANY FORM OF DAIRY PRODUCTS FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS AFTER FAST (actually, it might be wise to cut out or drastically reduce dairy altogether).
