HEAD COACH ROB SKARICICH
Rob Skaricich is in his 18th season as the head baseball coach at Grove City College. He has led Grove City to 263 wins as head coach and is the program’s all-time leader in coaching victories. In 2008, Skaricich led Grove City to the Presidents’ Athletic Conference title and the program’s first NCAA Championship Tournament appearance. Four years ago, Grove City captured the Eastern College Athletic Conference Southern Championship Tournament for the first time in program history. Grove City also won the PAC’s regular season title and finished with 25 victories. In 2006, Grove City earned its first-ever NCAA regional ranking. Pitcher Erik Arnesen was selected in the 17th round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Washington Nationals while shortstop Mike Ritter achieved CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. In 2011, second baseman Andrew Patterson earned CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition. Under his guidance, the Wolverines have captured four PAC championships while virtually rewriting the program’s record book. In 2001, Grove City captured its first-ever conference title, finishing with a 19-10 mark. Meanwhile, the 2002 Wolverine squad picked up the program’s second straight PAC title. That year, Grove City closed the season with 13 wins in 18 games, including a win over Division II power Slippery Rock. Skaricich has earned the conference’s Coach of the Year award four times in his career. He first earned that award in 1999 after leading Grove City to a then-record 24 victories and a second-place finish in the conference. He also earned the Coach of the Year award in 2001, 2002 and 2008. Skaricich is also defensive coordinator for Grove City’s football team. In 2010 and 2012, Grove City led the conference in total defense. A native of Wickliffe, Ohio, Skaricich earned his bachelor’s degree from Hiram in 1991 and a master’s degree from Cleveland State in 1993.
ASSISTANT COACH CORY HAKE
Cory Hake is in his eighth season as an assistant coach at Grove City College. He joined the Grove City staff after spending four years as the head baseball coach at nearby Slippery Rock High School (2002-05). Hake helped the Wolverines capture the Presidents’ Athletic Conference title and a berth in the NCAA Championship Tournament in 2008. In 2010, Grove City advanced to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Southern Championship Tournament for the first time in program history. The 2011 team won the PAC regular season title as well as the ECAC Tournament crown. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Calvin College in 1994. Hake completed his master’s degree from the U.S. Sports Academy in 2000. He is currently principal at nearby Slippery Rock Middle School.

GROVE CITY COLLEGE
SEASON PREVIEW
2015 SEASON PREVIEW After fielding one of the youngest teams in the nation during the 2014 season, the Grove City College baseball team will look to use the lessons learned last year and use them as a springboard for the 2015 season. Head coach Rob Skaricich, the program's all-time leader in coaching victories, will rely on 16 returning lettermen this spring. The Wolverines have augmented that veteran nucleus with another strong crop of newcomers, as well. PITCHING Grove City welcomes back several integral parts of last year's pitching staff, both in the starting rotation and in the bullpen. Senior left-hander Mason Stephens made seven starts last year and struck out 29 batters in 33 innings. Sophomore Ben Finlan started eight games as a rookie and will also likely be an integral part of the rotation. Classmate Doug Donatelli will also challenge for a spot in the rotation after being sidelined by injury for much of 2014. Sophomores Cameron Lawson, Anthony Marnejon and Andrew Taylor will also vie for spots in the rotation this year. Marnejon made one start last year while Taylor made three starts. Junior Ryan Gallagher shared the team lead with 10 total appearances last year and started four games.
Senior Chris Curran is a three-year letterwinner in the Grove City bullpen. He recorded a 1.29 earned run average last season.
He could become a full-time starter or further bolster the Wolverines' deep bullpen. Gallagher and senior Chris Curran give the Wolverines a pair of experienced arms in the bullpen. Curran posted a 1.29 earned run average as a reliever last year while holding opponents to a .130 batting average. Lawson, Marnejon and Taylor are also candidates for the bullpen, along with sophomore Jimmy Palmer. The versatile Palmer started 31 games in the field as a freshman. INFIELD Like the pitching staff, Grove City features several returners in the infield for the 2015 season. Behind the plate, sophomores Nick Fryer and Andy Fritz return after both seeing extensive action as freshmen. Each player is also a candidate to serve as designated hitter when not catching. At first base, sophomore Matt Waugaman returns after leading the Wolverines in runs batted in last season. Senior Reese Swatsworth will challenge Waugaman at first and could also see time at DH.
Sophomore catcher Nick Fryer is a returning starter for Grove City. He made 21 starts in 2014.

BASEBALL 2015
2015 SEASON PREVIEW
Sophomore outfielder Nolan Myers started all 34 games for Grove City as a freshman. He is expected to be a key part of the Wolverine outfield again in 2015.
Rob Skaricich is in his 18th season as Grove City’s head baseball coach. He is the program’s all-time leader with 263 victories.
Sophomore Matt Waugaman will look to again be a force in the middle of the Wolverine lineup after leading the team in runs batted in as a freshman.
5
SEASON PREVIEW
Senior Josh Hodges will look to take over at second base after playing a variety of roles in 2014, his first season at Grove City. Hodges hit .276 and went 7 for 7 in stolen bases as a junior. Sophomore David Laylock took over as Grove City's starting shortstop early in 2014 and led the team with a .327 batting average. An All-Presidents' Athletic Conference Honorable Mention selection last year, Laylock is expected to anchor the Wolverine infield again this spring. At third base, sophomore Brandon Gresh and junior Travis Royer are two of the leading candidates to fill that vacancy. Gresh made 15 total appearances as a freshman while Royer played in 22 games, including 14 starts. OUTFIELD While the Wolverine infield is somewhat settled, Grove City will have several players competing for time in the three outfield spots this year. Sophomore Nolan Myers started all 34 games last year and is the incumbent in right field. Palmer and Hodges both saw extensive action in the outfield last year while current sophomore Kyle Witzberger is also in the mix after starting six games last year. Junior Kenny McCracken hit .327 as a freshman and will compete for time in the outfield and at DH again this spring. Several newcomers are also likely to contend for starting spots.

His combination of tools caught the eyes of major league scouts and following college, he spent one year in the St. Louis Cardinals organization. Alexander capped his career at Grove City by earning Sportsman of the Year as a senior in 1964.
New Castle’s Ron Plano played a pivotal role in the rebirth of football and the return of baseball at Grove City from 1956 to 1960. Plano helped aid the return of baseball at the College. PRESIDENTS’ ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
Founded in 1955, the Presidents’ Athletic Conference continues its mission of promoting intercollegiate athletics and the pursuit of academic excellence. Comprised of 10 select private colleges and universities - Bethany College, Chatham University, Geneva College, Grove City College, Saint Vincent College, Thiel College, Thomas More College, Washington & Jefferson College, Waynesburg University and Westminster College - the PAC remains a unique organization in this day of high-pressure intercollegiate athletics. With academics at the center of each member’s philosophy, the PAC is built on the principle that an athletic program is a part of college life, but not an entity in itself. During the 2005-06 academic year, Chatham, Geneva and Saint Vincent all joined the PAC. Chatham competed for PAC championships for the first time during the 2007-08 academic year. Saint Vincent first competed for conference titles in 2010-11.

ABOUT GROVE CITY COLLEGE
ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The beautifully landscaped campus of Grove City College stretches over 150 acres and includes 28 neoGothic buildings. It is considered one of the loveliest in the nation. While the College has changed to meet the needs of the society it serves, its basic philosophy has remained unchanged since its founding in 1876. It is a Christian, liberal arts institution, dedicated to the principle of providing the highest quality education at the lowest possible cost. Wishing to remain truly independent and to retain its distinctive qualities as a private school governed by private citizens (trustees), it is one of few colleges in the country that does not accept federal funds. Affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), but not narrowly denominational, the College believes that to be well-educated a student should be exposed to the central ideas of the Judeo-Christian tradition. Grove City College offers undergraduate degrees in liberal arts, sciences, engineering, business, and music and is distinguished as a national leader in education. Grove City’s programs in electrical and mechanical engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission Board of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. The “big business school curriculum” prepares students for today’s global business reality. An extensive variety of internship opportunities are provided across the curriculum. Grove City College wants its students to be prepared in this age of mobile information technology. Each entering freshman receives a tablet computer which is his or hers to keep upon graduation with a four-year degree. This is part of the Information Technology Initiative, a total program integrating technology across the curriculum.
PROGRAMS AND MAJORS
Grove City College’s Breen Student Union
The College believes that its student body has a unique mix of talents and abilities. Its Career Services program helps students identify those key assets during the first year and then builds a four-year strategy to help them pursue a satisfying career. Personal counseling, professional speakers, databases, alumni contacts, summer internships, corporate visits, employer presentations and more are incorporated into the career preparation experience. Grove City follows the semester calendar plan, in addition to offering two-week sessions in January and May. Most of the 2,500 students live in separate men’s and women’s dormitories. The rest are local commuters or married students. A full program of cultural, professional, athletic and social activities is offered, including 19 intercollegiate varsity athletic teams. Grove City, a town of 8,100 people, is located 60 miles north of Pittsburgh. It is located near Interstates 79 and 80 and has a municipal airport.

ATHLETIC FACILITIES
All 19 of Grove City College’s intercollegiate varsity athletic teams utilize the College’s superior facilities for competition, practices and off-season training and conditioning. Grove City’s athletic facilities have undergone numerous renovations and improvements in recent years, with more upgrades scheduled in the immediate future. On lower campus, Robert E. Thorn Field is home to the College’s football and track and field teams. The College installed CSTurf at Robert E. Thorn Field. CSTurf is a synthetic playing surface that features polyethylene LSR grass fibers and a rubber infill system. The College also installed lights and resurfaced the 8-lane track around the field. Grove City also reconfigured its setup for track meets during these renovations. In 2011, the College installed a new state-ofthe-art scoreboard and new bleachers on the visitors’ side at Thorn Field. These upgrades benefit the entire campus community as the complex is used by both the College’s club sports teams and its intramural program, along with the varsity teams. The track is also available for use by recreational walkers and joggers. The complex also features 10 all-weather tennis courts next to the stadium. Phillips Field House, located at the north end of the complex, features several locker rooms, an athletic training room, meeting rooms and coaches’ offices. It is used by the football, track and tennis programs throughout the academic year. The Physical Learning Center (PLC) houses the Grove City College Arena, home to the College’s basketball and volleyball programs. In summer 2012, the College renovated the Arena by installing new lighting and a new playing floor. In recent years, the Arena has also received new scoreboards and scorers’ tables.

In addition, the PLC features the James E. Longnecker Pool, one of the premier aquatic facilities in the region. Each year, Grove City hosts the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at the state-of-the-art facility. In 2012, the College also hosted the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Championships at the James E. Longnecker Pool. The PLC also features a second pool, the Recreational Pool, which is used by members of the College community year-round. A fitness room featuring aerobic and Cybex equipment and a separate weight room with free and mechanized weights are also keystone areas of the facility. The PLC also features six racquetball/handball courts as well as two adjacent intramural rooms. The intramural rooms feature four basketball courts, four indoor tennis courts, four volleyball courts, an indoor track and two indoor jumping pits. The College installed new synthetic flooring and several new electronic scoreboards throughout the intramural rooms. The Physical Learning Center houses the athletic training room, locker rooms and offices for coaches and physical education faculty. The College recently constructed a new office suite for coaches and athletic administration, while also incorporating its Athletic Hall of Fame area. Grove City’s outdoor athletic facilities have also received numerous upgrades in recent years. The varsity soccer field, College Field, was expanded and re-sodded during the summer of 2005. College Field also received a new press box during the summer of 2007. Meanwhile, Grove City’s baseball and softball facilities recently received major facelifts as new dugouts, new fencing and electronic scoreboards were installed on both fields.
