SEASON PREVIEW
MEN’S SEASON PREVIEW In 2014, the Grove City College men's track and field team surprised many by capturing the Presidents' Athletic Conference championship. This season, the Wolverines will not sneak up on anyone in the league. But with 18 returning lettermen, Grove City sits in prime position to ward off challengers to its perch atop the conference. Five seniors will help lead Grove City in its quest for the program's 19th all-time Presidents' Athletic Conference title. Jason Glacken and Zach Kepple both return in the shot put and discus while classmate Hayden Faust will look to again be a major contributor in the javelin. Senior Ethan Witmer is a three-year letterman in the hurdles while Thomas Whittaker has been an integral part of the Wolverines' sprint corps throughout his career. Both will potentially be key contributors in the relay events again this season as well. Grove City's junior class also features several veterans who have been key cogs during their first two seasons in the program. Dane Mossgrove and Brandon Ward are both twoyear lettermen who will augment Witmer in the hurdle events. Junior Tom Kocur is one of the conference's top returning high jumpers while sprinter Jonah Meyer earned his first letter in 2014. Senior Hayden Faust is one of Grove City’s most experienced throwers. Third-year performers Joshua Dunsworth and Jack Erickson are back and bring plenty of experience to the Wolverines' traditionally-strong distance squad. Sophomore Nick Betz is the returning conference champion in the 110 high hurdles and is one of the region's top returners in both hurdle events. He will likely also be a major part of Grove City's relay efforts again this season. Sprinter Jacob Zeltman returns for his second season at Grove City after lettering as a rookie. Sophomore Ryan Buchalter emerged in the 400 last season and will be one of the Wolverines' top entries in that event as well as the 1600 relay. Distance performers Daniel Christiansen and Brandon Wise each return after lettering as freshmen. Both will be counted on in the 5,000 and 10,000 this year. Sophomore David Spinder returns in the throws, as does javelin specialist Luke Bitner, a one-year letterwinner. Fifth-year head coach Todd Gibson will also look for several newcomers to make an immediate impact this year. Grove City will host the conference championships at Robert E. Thorn Field April 24-25.
Sophomore Brandon Wise is a returning letterman in the distance events for the Wolverines. 6

WOMEN’S SEASON PREVIEW
SEASON PREVIEW
With 25 returning letterwinners, including a pair of NCAA Championships qualifiers, the Grove City College women's track and field team has high hopes entering the 2015 season. Last year, the Wolverines rolled to their ninth alltime Presidents' Athletic Conference championship and sent multiple competitors to the national championships for the first time. This spring, the Wolverines will look to vault the program to even greater heights. Junior distance standout Emily Rabenold earned the conference's Most Valuable Performer award last year and competed in the steeplechase at the NCAA Division III Championships. Meanwhile, junior hurdler Eliza Lowe swept the hurdle events at the conference championships and competed at the NCAA meet in the 100-meter hurdles. Grove City also returns the reigning conference Field MVP in sophomore Kate Hess, who is one of the top returning jumpers in the region. Four senior letterwinners will join those three decorated returnees. Senior Kara Cremean is a three-year letterwinner who is Grove City's most experienced distance runner. She has been one of Grove City's most consistent performers throughout her career. Senior hurdler Mara Womer returns for her fourth season and will again likely be a key contributor in both hurdle events as well as the relays. Two seniors return to help lead Grove City's throwing squad - Ellie Stoffer and Kaitlyn Powell. Stoffer is a three-year letterwinner in the discus and javelin while Powell has lettered in each of her three season in the throwing events. Lowe and Rabenold are two of the 11 junior letterwinners who are back for the Wolverines. Junior Rachel Zdaniewicz is a two-year letterwinner in the pole vault while classmate Micaela Velloney lettered in the pole vault in 2014. Junior letterwinner Lydia Rittenhouse joins Lowe and Womer in the hurdles, as does junior Gabby Wood. Wood will likely also compete in middle-distance events, as will junior letterwinner Anna Cessar. Sprinter Allison Blain is back after lettering in each of her first two seasons, as is sprinter/hurdler Adrienne Scrima. Both are strong candidates to compete in the relay events for Grove City. Letterwinners Stevie Huston and Courtney Shultz will join Rabenold in the distance events, giving the Wolverines further depth and versatility in the longer events. Grove City also welcomes back 10 sophomores who lettered as newcomers in 2014. Hess will be joined in the jumps by classmate Rachel Watson, who will look to further solidify her spot as one of the conference's top long and triple jumpers.
Juniors Courtney Shultz (left) and Gabby Wood are both returning letterwinners in the distance events for Grove City. In the distance events, sophomores Lydia Keiper and Kellen McGann are expected to be key contributors after lettering as freshmen. Sprinters Kate Hussey, Sarah Williamson and Lauren Pearce all lettered last year and will again compete in the sprints and will battle for spots on the relay teams. Williamson could also again compete in the jumps. Sophomores Chloe Flaminio and Jessica Rolando are back after lettering in the throws while pole vaulter Melanie Packard is one of the conference's top returners in that event. Fifth-year head coach Todd Gibson anticipates that several newcomers could also contribute immediately in 2015. Grove City hosts the conference championships at Robert E. Thorn Field April 24-25. 7

2014 REVIEW
2014 MEN’S SEASON REVIEW Throughout the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, Grove City College dominated the Presidents' Athletic Conference in men's track and field by winning 17 conference titles in a 23-year span. After a five-season hiatus, the Wolverines showed that the past met the present in 2014 as Grove City returned to the top of the conference, capping a breakthrough season for the program. Grove City crowned conference champions in three events as senior Mark Talbott won the steeplechase, freshman Nick Betz won the 110 high hurdles and Peter Christiansen took the 5000. Betz, who set a new school record in the high hurdles (14.79 seconds) during the season, also took second in the 400 hurdles. Fellow freshman Daniel Christiansen earned runner-up in the 10,000 while seniors Matt Mucha and Arleigh McRae earned second place in the steeplechase and 5000, respectively. Sophomore Tom Kocur captured second in the high jump, leading Grove City's effort in the field events. Head coach Todd Gibson earned the conference's Coach of the Year award after guiding the Wolverines to a 3.4-point margin of victory over host Westminster, 131127.6. Nine members of the squad competed at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Championships in Troy, N.Y., May 16, 2014. Senior John Green closed his decorated career at Grove City by taking fourth in the 400 meters. He also anchored Grove City's 400- and 1600-meter relay teams.
Nick Betz broke Grove City’s longstanding school record in the 110 high hurdles and won the conference title in that event. Betz took ninth in the high hurdles and then placed 12th in the 400 hurdles. Grove City highlighted the regular season by earning second place overall at the 15-team Westminster Invitational April 12 in New Wilmington. Grove City also won the Presidents' Athletic Conference Quad North meet three days later in Beaver Falls, Pa.

2014 REVIEW
The Grove City College women's track and field team assembled one of the finest seasons in program history in 2014 as the Wolverines accomplished numerous milestones throughout the campaign. Grove City captured its first Presidents' Athletic Conference championship in nine years by amassing 222 team points at the two-day championships in New Wilmington, Pa., April 25-26. The 222 points marked the highest output by a conference team since Grove City piled up 235 points in 2003. The Wolverines rolled to the 2014 title with a 59-point margin of victory - the largest margin since Grove City won by 61 points in 2005. Sophomore Emily Rabenold earned the conference's Most Valuable Performer award after winning the steeplechase, the 5000 and 10,000 while freshman jumper Kate Hess captured the league's Field MVP award. Fourth-year head coach Todd Gibson earned Presidents' Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors after directing the Wolverines to the championship. In addition to Rabenold's three wins and Hess's triple jump triumph, sophomore Eliza Lowe swept the hurdle events, and senior Sadie Malone won the high jump. Rabenold and Lowe also qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships, which represented the first time in program history that Grove City sent multiple women to the national championships in the same year. Rabenold placed 15th nationally in the steeplechase while Lowe earned 21st in the 100-meter high hurdles. During the 2014 season, Lowe set program records in each hurdle event while Rabenold set a new school stan-

ABOUT
THE
PRESIDENTS’ ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
ABOUT THE PAC Founded in 1955, the Presidents’ Athletic Conference continues its mission of promoting intercollegiate athletics and the pursuit of academic excellence. Comprised of 10 select private colleges and universities - Bethany College, Chatham University, Geneva College, Grove City College, Saint Vincent College, Thiel College, Thomas More College, Washington & Jefferson College, Waynesburg University and Westminster College - the PAC remains a unique organization in this day of high-pressure intercollegiate athletics. With academics at the center of each member’s philosophy, the PAC is built on the principle that an athletic program is a part of college life, but not an entity in itself. During the 2005-06 academic year, Chatham, Geneva and Saint Vincent all joined the PAC. Chatham competed for PAC championships for the first time during the 2007-08 academic year. Saint Vincent first competed for conference titles in 2010-11. Geneva became eligible for conference titles in 201112. The PAC annually crowns champions in 19 sports. AllConference status is awarded in all 19 sports. Head coaches select all-league squads for all team sports, while in individual sports such as cross country and tennis, all-PAC accolades are based upon performances at the conference championships. The PAC annually awards its men’s and women’s AllSports Trophies to the schools which perform best across the board in conference competition. Grove City won the Women’s All-Sports Trophy for the 2013-14 academic year while Washington & Jefferson earned the Men’s All-Sports Trophy. In 2013-14, the league named a conference-record 902 student-athletes to the PAC Academic Honor Roll, which recognizes all participating student-athletes who attain a term grade-point average of 3.60 or above during their semester of competition.

ABOUT GROVE CITY COLLEGE
ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The beautifully landscaped campus of Grove City College stretches over 150 acres and includes 28 neoGothic buildings. It is considered one of the loveliest in the nation. While the College has changed to meet the needs of the society it serves, its basic philosophy has remained unchanged since its founding in 1876. It is a Christian, liberal arts institution, dedicated to the principle of providing the highest quality education at the lowest possible cost. Wishing to remain truly independent and to retain its distinctive qualities as a private school governed by private citizens (trustees), it is one of few colleges in the country that does not accept federal funds. Affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), but not narrowly denominational, the College believes that to be well-educated a student should be exposed to the central ideas of the Judeo-Christian tradition. Grove City College offers undergraduate degrees in liberal arts, sciences, engineering, business, and music and is distinguished as a national leader in education. Grove City’s programs in electrical and mechanical engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission Board of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. The “big business school curriculum” prepares students for today’s global business reality. An extensive variety of internship opportunities are provided across the curriculum. Grove City College wants its students to be prepared in this age of mobile information technology. Each entering freshman receives a tablet computer which is his or hers to keep upon graduation with a four-year degree. This is part of the Information Technology Initiative, a total program integrating technology across the curriculum.
PROGRAMS AND MAJORS
Grove City College’s Breen Student Union
The College believes that its student body has a unique mix of talents and abilities. Its Career Services program helps students identify those key assets during the first year and then builds a four-year strategy to help them pursue a satisfying career. Personal counseling, professional speakers, databases, alumni contacts, summer internships, corporate visits, employer presentations and more are incorporated into the career preparation experience. Grove City follows the semester calendar plan, in addition to offering two-week sessions in January and May. Most of the 2,500 students live in separate men’s and women’s dormitories. The rest are local commuters or married students. A full program of cultural, professional, athletic and social activities is offered, including 19 intercollegiate varsity athletic teams. Grove City, a town of 8,100 people, is located 60 miles north of Pittsburgh. It is located near Interstates 79 and 80 and has a municipal airport.

ATHLETIC FACILITIES
All 19 of Grove City College’s intercollegiate varsity athletic teams utilize the College’s superior facilities for competition, practices and off-season training and conditioning. Grove City’s athletic facilities have undergone numerous renovations and improvements in recent years, with more upgrades scheduled in the immediate future. On lower campus, Robert E. Thorn Field is home to the College’s football and track and field teams. The College installed CSTurf at Robert E. Thorn Field. CSTurf is a synthetic playing surface that features polyethylene LSR grass fibers and a rubber infill system. The College also installed lights and resurfaced the 8-lane track around the field. Grove City also reconfigured its setup for track meets during these renovations. In 2011, the College installed a new state-ofthe-art scoreboard and new bleachers on the visitors’ side at Thorn Field. These upgrades benefit the entire campus community as the complex is used by both the College’s club sports teams and its intramural program, along with the varsity teams. The track is also available for use by recreational walkers and joggers. The complex also features 10 all-weather tennis courts next to the stadium. Phillips Field House, located at the north end of the complex, features several locker rooms, an athletic training room, meeting rooms and coaches’ offices. It is used by the football, track and tennis programs throughout the academic year. The Physical Learning Center (PLC) houses the Grove City College Arena, home to the College’s basketball and volleyball programs. In summer 2012, the College renovated the Arena by installing new lighting and a new playing floor. In recent years, the Arena has also received new scoreboards and scorers’ tables.

In addition, the PLC features the James E. Longnecker Pool, one of the premier aquatic facilities in the region. Each year, Grove City hosts the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at the state-of-the-art facility. In 2012, the College also hosted the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Championships at the James E. Longnecker Pool. The PLC also features a second pool, the Recreational Pool, which is used by members of the College community year-round. A fitness room featuring aerobic and Cybex equipment and a separate weight room with free and mechanized weights are also keystone areas of the facility. The PLC also features six racquetball/handball courts as well as two adjacent intramural rooms. The intramural rooms feature four basketball courts, four indoor tennis courts, four volleyball courts, an indoor track and two indoor jumping pits. The College installed new synthetic flooring and several new electronic scoreboards throughout the intramural rooms. The Physical Learning Center houses the athletic training room, locker rooms and offices for coaches and physical education faculty. The College recently constructed a new office suite for coaches and athletic administration, while also incorporating its Athletic Hall of Fame area. Grove City’s outdoor athletic facilities have also received numerous upgrades in recent years. The varsity soccer field, College Field, was expanded and re-sodded during the summer of 2005. College Field also received a new press box during the summer of 2007. Meanwhile, Grove City’s baseball and softball facilities recently received major facelifts as new dugouts, new fencing and electronic scoreboards were installed on both fields.
