Personal Project: Character Turnaround
Now, who’s this girl? This is Celeste! She is a character of mine I’ve created back in middle school, her design and character has practically grown along side my own personal growth as an artist and creator. So despite the fact she’s just a mere cartoon character, Celeste is someone who holds a lot of sentimental value to me. So in a way, she is like a personal mascot of mine.
My end goal is to one day publish a story with Celeste as the main character. It’s still very much a work in progress, but it is a dream of mine I will work my hardest on... and I hope you will look forward to the advertures Celeste and her friends will take on!
DDN-412 Narrative Assignment: ‘Lets look for
treasure!’
This was the project I did for my narrative assignment for DDN-412 Short Film Production.
It was made using a multitude of programs; namely Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe After Effects. Truth be told this project was a lot more larger in scale but there were several scenes that had to be cut out due to deadline and timing restraints. Nevertheless I’m quite happy with how everything came out, hearing my peers laugh at the comedic scenes paid off for all the work I put into it.
This narrative focuses on two fox children, a girl named Celeste and a boy named Judas. The two set off into the forest, with a crudely drawn map in hand to find rich treasure hidden deep within an old and abandoned house.
However... Celeste gets easily distracted from their plan of action when a pretty butterfly floats right by, leaving the timid Judas to brave the dilapidated building all by himself.
Making his way inside he soon sees something gleam in the dark, an antique necklace! But as soon as he picks up, Judas notices something within the dark... something that spooks him to the point where he runs out screaming, grabbing Celeste and dragging the startled girl away. Leaving the treasure back where he had found it.
TREZURE :D
DDN-220 Title Sequence: ‘GODZILLA’
For this Assignment, we were allowed to make a custom title sequence for any existing movie with as much creative freedom as we possibly could in Adobe After Effects.
I went with the original Godzilla movie from 1954 as my inspiration for this project. However I decided to go with a slightly different approach, the assets are all orginal which I made in Illustrator but the audio was pulled straight from the original film.
I have my reasonings for this, as in the original film, a simple wall of text scrolls by as we hear Godzilla stomping about and roaring before leading into the film’s iconic theme. My idea was to have the opening credits shake with each of the loud stomps. The end result is something which I am still very much proud of.
DDN-412 Advertisement Assignment: ‘Mochi Otter Plush’
Here is another project done for DDN-412 Short Film Production. This time advertising a mochi otter plush manufactered and sold by Shinada Global, with the ad itself being highly comedic in tone.
Shinada Global is an actual legitimate buisness, a Japanese based company that sells high quality plush toys. I actually bought one of their mochi otters and was really surprised with just how soft and squishy it turned out to be!
This project, while being based on a real plush I brough, also pulls a lot of inspiration from those tacky ‘As Seen on TV’ product commercials which were everywhere back in the day.
As this advertisement may claim, other plushies are DUMB and BORING! But with the mochi otter, you will have endless fun for days! It could change your life for the better, even help you file your taxes too! However you might be better off takng these dubious claims with a grain of salt...
DDN-330, 360 &415: 3D Modelling
Although my focus isn’t really on 3D modelling, it is still good to show that I do have some experience with the digital medium.
Here are a variety of projects I made for several of my 3d modelling classes made in Autodesk Maya and Blender.
DDN-305 Animatic Project: ‘Kitten Korral’
This last project is one that took place over a single semester where we develop our own little animatic. Developing a narrative outline and the main characters of our own little story.
Wandering through the cruel and unforgiving desert, A cowboy comes across a ghost town. With his canteen empty, he enters the town in hopes of finding some water. That is until a overly friendly kitten ends up becoming quite the roadblock in his way… The cowboy gets annoyed with the little kitty’s antics and makes it stay put atop a barrel as he goes to refill his canteen. The kitten grows sad as she is now left alone, but after having himself a long deserved drink the cowboy reconsiders his actions and reapproaches the cat, petting it as an apology of sorts. The kitten is overjoyed with delight, and jumps onto the cowboy’s shoulder nuzzling underneath his chin. Before the two set off towards the sunset.
