Strike me down and I’ll only become more powerful.

This quote hides a deeper meaning than it appears. I first heard the quote from a scene in the first Star Wars film. However, as I grew older, I began to understand that it has a real-world application. In this industry, to succeed you must first fail. The first ideas that come to mind when initially creating a campaign will not be the best. In fact, they will likely be struck down by the creative director. But, do not let this upset you. This is a good thing because in the end it only makes the final product stronger.

Hello there, I’m Brennan Ziegler

My creative journey began in front of a television set. As a child, I always analyzed the advertisements during commercial breaks and thought about whether they were successful or not. In high school, I found my passion in the hands of a camera, where I discovered my skills as a designer were rooted in photography. In college, I discovered that the best work isn’t always conceived on the first thought, but rather built on the foundation of failed ideas. The following work in this book reflects this idea and demonstrates that there is never a perfect and final product when it comes to design.

Grand Canyon University Disc Golf Fundraising Campaign

GCU recently started a disc golf team and needed some help garnering attention. I approached their coach and offered up my skills as a photographer and graphic designer. I attended their events and photographed the team. Then, after each event finished, I would work on developing graphics that communicated how the team played. In light of getting more attention, I also created posters that could be displayed around campus to get the word out that their team was top-tier.

Following the Arizona Diamondbacks’ impressive performance nearing the World Series, Rugged Insurance sought to launch an advertising campaign that would resonate with both baseball enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers, positioning their vehicles within the context of familial relationships. tasked with finding a way to balance the provided headline and CTA with strong imagery emphasizing family connections and vehicles.

Each year, GCU hosts a highly anticipated lip sync competition, marking a significant event during the first semester of the academic school year. Recognizing the importance of capturing memorable moments and showcasing the participating teams, the captain of the victorious team approached me with a request to produce high-quality photography that would introduce the team members. Honored by the opportunity to contribute to such a prestigious event, I enthusiastically accepted the task and collaborated closely with the team captain to create visually consistent and captivating portraits that would immortalize their achievement.
