Mucha was a famous early modern artist in history that became famous for his distinctive style and posters of a famous play actress.

Using his style (example on the bottom right) this project created a new painting in the style of Mucha’s posters.

Like Mucha, I used a muse to center my painting around. (Picture on the top right) My little sister volenteered to pose for the painting in which I was able to replicate her likeness.

The final project (right side on page 5) was completed using a minimal color scheme as Mucha often used while keeping in mind the colors that highlight the subject’s beauty.

Figure Drawings

Figure Drawing is the act of drawing the figures of people, typically in a live setting where a person will pose as the artist draws them.

The typical medium includes soft graphite pencils or charcoal sticks to create loose flowing drawings.

The goal of this practice is to gain familiarity into human anatomy which can be further applied in animation through the understanding in character movements. Without the unstanding of human movement limitations, animations can end up choppy or unnatural.

Digital Painting

The digital painting technique, exemplified in the Mucha project, closely mirrors its traditional counterpart in many ways. What sets it apart, however, is the utilization of digital tools, offering artists a plethora of advantages. The layer system, in particular, grants unparalleled flexibility, allowing for easy adjustments and experimentation without fear of permanent changes.

On the right side of the spectrum lies a collection of landscapes, some drawn from references while others spring forth purely from imagination. Each piece is a testament to the artist’s skill in capturing the essence of nature, whether inspired by real-world scenes or born purely from creativity.

zombie boy & Ghost dog

A short story about a zombie boy that loves dogs enough to carry around treats, and a ghost dog that loves bones more than treats. This project was the beginning of the process to an animation as all animations start as storyboards.

The story is a small gag story in where the ending is not what one would expect in hopes to get a laugh.

college insanity

A casual story with a twist. Following John, a fresh new college student that unfortunately waited until the last moment to apply for housing. Thankfully they still have one spot left. The catch? It’s the only room that hasn’t been used since the building was first built... And now there’s a MONSTER? Guess John will just have to try somewhere else!

The story of John was inspired by a dream some years ago in where a normal college freshman’s year turns to the not so normal. The way this pre-production was set up was so that a longer story could be produced with the original cut for time.

Maya & blender

The 3D models were crafted using Maya, known as the industry standard, along with Blender, a popular choice among freelancers. Textures were meticulously created through a combination of hand-wrapping and placement in Photoshop, with additional refinement achieved through Substance Painter.

While the primary focus was on designs tailored for the gaming industry, the versatility of these creations extends beyond gaming realms. With practiced realism, they hold the potential to serve as impactful special effects in films or enhance motion graphics projects, showcasing the adaptability and skillful craftsmanship behind each creation.
