Root Beer Branding

Rumble Root Beer is a fictional soda company based in the Southwest United States needing a rebrand for their packaging, along with print ads to promote their original, cherry, and vanilla flavors. While promoting their brand, they wanted to emphasize that they are pro-earth, and donate 20% of their proceeds to fight climate change and give back.

TEAMWORK CONCEPTING

Working together with an art director and project manager, and myself as the graphic designer, a poster was created for a student film festival. Multiple designs were submitted across different classes, and this one was chosen to be the face for the film. For this project, I did all digital design and helped with concepting.

Infographic

This project focused on gathering information about a social issue and turning it into an inforgraph that broke down the research into the most important aspects and presenting them in a visually digestable format. I chose to center my project around building awareness of modern day slavery. I incorporated photography of my hand to give the infographic a more raw and human feel to it.

ILLUSTRATION TYPOGRAPHY

These are a collection of drawings I’ve done in the past exploring typography, illustration, and doodling in a way that combines them into cohesive and interesting visuals. The process included a pencil sketch of where I wanted the letters placed, and then an outline of whatever the word was. Then, using a pen, I would draw the text and shade it, break the main shape into sections, and then fill in the background image with the doodles. Each one took about 30 minutes.

Chocolate Bar Packaging

This project was a study of packaging, the way it folds and fits together, and to create graphics that compliment the packaging along with the brand or product it is representing. The process included buying an existing chocolate bar, measuring the dimensions of the package and setting up a print ready file. Along with that, varnish, foil, embossing, and color files were created. The logo was also redesigned to fit with the packaging.

Book Covers

Throughout the course of my program, I created a number of book covers, both for assignments, and also outside of school. The Soul Dark & Beautiful is a cover for a poetry book, The Hobbit cover was exploring illustrative, photographic, and typographic covers, and Great Expectations was an exercise in coming up with strong visual metaphors to capture the plot or main message of a book in a visual design.

Brand Launch Campaign

Frecycle is a brand that was developed from the ground up. I was given the type of business it was and where it is located. In this case, Frecycle is a bicycle rental and repair shop on Venice Beach. A complete brand guide was developed including a logo, patterns, typography, colors, and visual style. I focused on the recycling aspect and tied that to the branding, along with a vintage style to fit with the target markets, to compliment the culture of Venice Beach. Marketing collateral was designed for Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Youtube, along with emails, blogs, a social media calendar and a website.

Soccer Event Design

This project centered around creating an event emblem including a name, location, and year for it. Once the logo and event was created, a product package was designed for items people could purchase or take home from the event. The Portland Soccer Tournament is an annual U18 tournament where families travel to support their players, and college scouts come to look for prospective players. A brand was also chosen to pair with it. I chose NIKE, because of their location and mission.

BRANDING SOCIAL MEDIA LAYOUT DESIGN

During my time as a Graphic Design Intern at the GCU Honors College, I created flyers, posters, social media graphics, and stickers. I also helped rebrand the RISE Fellowship student leadership team and the Permission to Fail Leadership Conference. Along with that, I took photos at various events throughout the year to post on the GCU Honors College Instagram and to use for other print materials.
