DEAD BY DAYLIGHT
An explainer animation on how to play survivor or killer in the video game, Dead by Daylight. I used dark colors to indicate that this is a horror and action based video game. I also went towards a more simplistic approach using flat vector designs to convey the information in a clean and quick way.
Bear Escapade
Bear Escapade is a short comical story about a bear attempting to get honey from a bee hive. I wanted this animation to look cute and cartoonish so I created childlike vector assets.
Dinner for One
A title sequence inspired by the works of Saul Bass. When creating my assets, I made them to have the paper cut out look that Saul Bass used on the film, The Anatomy of a Murder. In addition, when adding the opening credits to the title sequence, I added moving text as Saul Bass was well known for his kinetic typography. In this movie, it is about multiple murder cases where women in the neighborhood keep disappearing. The story focuses on one woman’s point of view as she tries to escape from the man behind the murders.
SSIN G
Mama Rat
A narrative animation about a Mama rat caring for her little one. In this project, I used many different camera angles that would best show and direct the viewers eyes towards what was occuring in the story. I based the artstyle on kid tv shows as my target audience was children. My goal was to convey a message to children about how much their mother’s care for them and would do anything to keep them happy and healthy. So in return, we (the children), should care and love them as well.
Forever Traveling
Forever Traveling is a movie about a man who brings war wherever he goes. In order to avoid hurting others or himself he cannot stay in one location for too long. He travels a lot by boat as no one can get hurt or reach him when at sea.
I based the style on Japanese woodblock prints. When the Japanese printed woodblock, they relied on brushes and water-based paints. During the process of digital painting, I used different digital brushes that represented water-based paints.
Animal Expressions
For this project, I explored six expressions when illustrating a dog and a cat. The six expressions include: happiness, confusion, anger, sadness, content, and fear. In addition to the expressions, I wanted to add a full body drawing of each of the animals.
Character Design
This is Koda. I based his design off of a faun, a mythological creature. A faun is half-human and half-goat. Koda’s backstory includes going on a quest to retrieve a magical jewel that has been stolen from his hometown by wildebeests. The jewel can bring life and sanctuary to those who use it for good. However, it can also bring death and destruction when in the hands of bad people.
