Things that you think about when your brain kicks into overdrive and you start to question "but who am I really?"

It is not necessarily a bad thing for someone to want to make their life seem better than what it is, fix their imperfections and flaws. What creates our identity is, in the end, our own choice. If something is important to us, we have a natural instinct to reflect on that, and make it a priority

and an essential element in our lives. On the opposite end of the spectrum, there are things we want to hide within our identity, or use our identity as a means to cover up. It is all about creating who you are as a person and finding a way to represent yourself.

The way humans interact, build friendships, alliances and networks is by being compatible with someone else's identity. There are endless components to a persons identity but upon meeting someone you do get a great idea about what they are all about and what they live for.

At the end of the day Erikson's quote really encapsulates the true meaning of why we categorize ourselves this way. Without our identity we are not individual. Our society relies on the many differences we all hold to be an interesting, diverse place.

When styling your home, you may have a clear vision and details in your head about what the end result will be, but its important to stick to the basics to really impress. Our top tips can help you stay on track and nail your weekend home makeover.

LESS IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN MORE By taking a minimal approach you will be steered away from clutter. Your home will always look its best, fresh and bright with a clean slate and some key bold feature pieces. This applies for not only the quantity of styling essentials but also the palette you choose. Clashing two bold patterns together is not going to look as effective in its design as a complimenting color palette paired with a simple, clean pattern would be.

THE BEST FINDS ARE OFTEN THE BARGAINS You don't need to spend to style. There are lots of replicas and alternatives to expensive designers such as Kmart and Bunnings who both offer great low cost options or even some easy DIY potentials. Styling on a budget can be a fun weekend activity which you can involve the whole family in.

KEEP A CONSISTENT COLOR THEME A neutral palette with a pop of color often works well. For example, black, grey, pastel pink and a touch of gold is on trend right now. Add some greenery into your home to give a fresh feel by using simple artificial or indoor plants. The natural colors in most green indoor plants goes well with a neutral palette and adds that pop of color through the leaves.

SASS&BID ETIGERLIL YALANNA HHALEXPE RRYCARLA ZAMJOSH GOOTSAS

Australian fashion designers ‘Sass & Bide’ use cultural inspiration regularly to create their clothing lines. The two designers Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton came together to create beautiful clothes with graphic prints, innovative cuts and distinctive embellishments. In the 2011 summer line the two designers used inspiration from a diverse range of cultures. They did not want their audience to see only one particular inspiration in their clothes but a mix of influences. They wanted to show how diverse and unique their style was, stating their line was “a little bit Japanese, a little bit tribal, a little bit flapper and so on.” – (2011) Sass & Bide. Not only do high-end fashion designers use culture and art to influence their sense of style but so do ordinary people like you and me. Everything we see in our day-to-day lives influences what we wear and how we act. People give us a sense of what they like, who they are and what they do through their style. That is what’s great about fashion; you can get a sense of a person before you know them. It’s also great because it is fun, interesting and exhilarating to dress up; it makes the world a more colourful and comfortable place. Q&A with sass & bide. (2011). Harpers Bazaar Magazine.
