Timeline of a racist by ramin ebadi
“Please Explain?” She said with a whiny nasally voice. She didn’t quiet grasp the idea of multiculturalism and the concept of being a human. Lets face it, no one is born a racist, you are a product of your life and the adversities that you have faced. I often contemplate how life would be if I was raised differently, or influenced by my surroundings, to a point of destroying peoples lives. Would I feel good about myself? Would I feel that this isn’t normal and that something had to change? Well the “red witch” feels nothing.

The “red witch”, an insignificant specimen that our tax dollars go towards, so she can discriminate against anybody that isn’t white. But like I said you can’t have these hate filled agendas since birth, so what happened throughout her life that has made her who she is. Lets take a journey through the timeline of a racist. She was born in 1954, into a working class family and is one of seven children. In 1970 is married a polish refugee, the irony is just too beautiful. What else priceless is the fact that she met him aged 15 and married when 16, after discovering she was knocked up. “Islam promotes under age marriages”. In 1975 her husband left her for another woman, after months of cheating on her. Let that sink in for second. A refugee who she had adored and had a baby with, left her! What makes it worst is that she was pregnant with their second child. Now I can imagine that this would leave a bitterness that wouldn’t go away easily. It could even be a hatred lasting 46 years.

Moving forward 3 years down the track, the notorious Hanson was given the name that would go down in history for the wrong reason. She married Mark Hanson, a tradesman on the Gold Coast. Again another marriage because she fell pregnant. “This country was built on good Christian values. After marrying her second husband they had a plumbing and roofing business in Ipswich Queensland. She had two more children before divorcing and opening her now infamous fish and chips shop. Poor Mark claims he was blackmailed into marrying Hanson, because he knocked her up. He also claims she made racist comments towards aboriginal people. So now that we have a little history into the witches life, we can no doubt breakdown significant factors that perhaps make sense of her antics today. Her political object is something that needs no further publicity, as the main problem is the individual behind the hate. This is an individual that has seen nothing but hatred in her own personal life. So her only escape from reality is to lie to everyone and herself. In a way she is a product of a miserable life, and a miserable life undoubtedly creates a miserable person. So what would my answer be to Please Explain!? Figure it out Pauline you Cunt!

POLICE BRUTALITY IN STRAYA BY SINEM YUKSEL
DOES IT EXIST?
It sure does! Despite the fact that we only hear about the violent events taking place between the coppers and civilians in America, the same things (or almost as bad) may just be happening in your neighbourhood too, except you’re not really hearing about it. How does it happen? What may be the cause of it? Stereotypes. And let’s be brutally honest, we are all guilty of judging people based on their appearance at one point in our life or another. It’s the ugly truth, but hey, we’re all human right? Yes, we’re all human. We. Are. All. Human. HUMAN. And I think this is exactly what most people are forgetting.

Just your average humans who just so happen to be officers as well.

So how does racial profiling even exist?? Why is it that our police men are targeting certain groups more than others? This is where discretion comes into play. What is it you say? Well, direction pretty much means the freedom to decide what should be done in a particular situation. Police work is discretionary in the sense that it involves the exercise of choice or judgment. Naturally, because racial profiling is a thing that exists, minorities are disproportionately caught up in the criminal justice system. Unfortunately, when the evidence demonstrated is observed, it makes it clear that discretion is systematically exercised to the disadvantage of black, aboriginal and middle eastern “moey-dw looking Australians.
Who do we call when our police men are the ones committing crimes?

“We do discriminate at times” The following are quoted after an interview discussing the matter of racial profiling and discretion with Michael P, a police officer who works for the state of NSW. “I hate to say it but yeah, we do kind of discriminate at times. We try not to, but it just happens. We’re more likely to stop a customized Honda Civic, let’s say, than a normal four-wheel drive or a Mercedes Benz” . “We know which areas have the highest crime rates, and we always have an idea of the kind of people that are engaging in criminal activity. They are usually repeat offenders. Even if they aren’t, it’s not hard to spot a trouble maker after dealing with them for so long” “Yes I admit some cops do abuse their role as a law enforcer. They do tend to get aggressive, and many cops are racists. I’m not even gonna lie about it. Thank god we have controlled gun laws here in Australia.”

Is Race Even Real?
BY Tom Cheel The year is 2016 and while discrimination is still alive, most people in Australia are very accepting of their pears. Anti-racist’s believe that all humans should be treated equally and fairly, often stating that we are all the same. In an attempt to combat racism many people adopt the belief that race is a social construct created by society to put people into boxes. However some may argue against this referring to science and cultural differences. Is race a social construct ? Are some races stronger, more intelligent and motivated ? Where do stereotypes come from ?

In the Olympic games, finalists in the 100m sprint are generally west African with the exception of record holder Usain Bolt from Jamaica, whilst east African’s continually dominate long distance events. Statistics in the United States from 1998 show that 77% of basketball players and 65% of all NFL players are black despite making up about 13% of the US population. Studies have repeatedly found that black men have more testosterone then white men resulting in greater psychical ability. Another interesting fact is that whites have less dense bones and as a result are more buoyant then black’s, giving them the upper hand in swimming. Evidence suggests that race has an overwhelming effect on maturation, sexuality and even blood types. Prof. J. Rushton reports that the average age a child begins to walk is 11 months in black children, 12 months in whites and 13 months in Asians. Furthermore by age 12, 19 percent of black girls have full sexual development whilst only 2 percent of white girls do. It is common knowledge that blood transfusions and organ transplants are most effective between patients of the same race. Blood types differ from race to race. Dr. W. Laurence comments on racial classification stating: “It makes no sense to screen 100,000 whites for U negative when no U negative white person has ever been found”.
18
The most controversial topic in regards to race is intelligence. Statistics in school’s across the united states consistently show that blacks do not achieve the same success as other students in school. Some will blame racist schools and living conditions. However a 1995 report by the American psychological association; acknowledges a difference between the mean IQ’s of whites and blacks. The study also indicated an absence of any adequate environmental or genetic explanation. Furthermore; North East Asian’s have a higher mean score on IQ tests compared to other races. These statistics explain why Asain’s generally get better grades, get into better colleges and have a higher per capita income then other races. So why is this knowledge generally rejected. Are people afraid of the truth ? It comes down to denial by refusal to acknowledge painful realities, thoughts and feelings. How can race be a social construct if people of different skin colours have differing ability’s and traits. As a society should we segregate humans ? or would it be more effective to acknowledge racial characteristics ?

stereotypes
by rhys webster
We really are in our own little worlds, left to our own opinions and thoughts, what we do with those is what makes us who we are. When people wholeheartedly believe many of the stereotypes they hear and view in many forms of media and by word of mouth says to me that they may be either an extremely sheltered or just plain ignorant person, that is all there is to it. Now I am not saying that this is intentional, not at all, many people are just not given the opportunity to meet people of many other cultures and religions for many reasons. But to those who unwillingly accept that most people people really are the same under the surface no matter the information you are presented and treat others with the disrespect to that of a serial rapist get fucked. It is not only arrogant and bigoted but also an extremely out-dated way of thinking. We are in the 21st Century for Christ sake.

Now I’m not saying this way of thinking is either at 0 or 100, there are many different levels and quite often people seem to move on as they grow older and meet new people, as they mature and learn, but others just don’t get it. Politicians play on this hatred for one another to gain power and push their own agendas, now I’m not saying I know a lot about politics but what I do know is that Trump in particular has been doing this very well, not that I agree with what he is saying (I disagree with a lot of his views).

One of the worst stereotypes that really bother me lately is the claim that “all Muslims are terrorists”. Now they aren’t a “race”, they are a religious group, but the concept still stands, it makes no sense! There is all this talk about the “radicalisation of Muslims” and what we are going to do about it but the sad thing is, the option that seems to be spoken out about the loudest is to just lock them out and put them on a register. How in the world will this stop or even fix the issue in any way? If anything this will only encourage those select few that had the intention of doing horrific things, angering them and forcing them over the edge creating even more conflict than there already was. To be quite honest I don’t know what the solution to this problem is, but it isn’t this one! You cannot possibly assume that all Muslims think the same way as these terrorists do because their views and beliefs are very much different from this select few that “claim to be Muslim”.

oh so dirty oh so stupid

On the other side of things, over here in Australia, a certain politician by the name of Pauline Hanson is also guilty of stereotyping people from other parts of the world. She claimed that Africans bring diseases into our country, she sees them as dirty and disease ridden, even going as far as to say; “Do you want to see your daughter or a famly member end up with AIDS or anyone for that matter?. Yes Pauline, because everyone in Africa has aids and they are all coming over here to spread it with the rest of our population. You could not be further from the truth. Generalizing a whole population of people weather that is based on their race or even religion, good or bad, is stereotyping, and it is wrong. Simply because of this: everyone is unique, just because you may be influenced by the culture around you to think and act a certain way does not mean you are the same as all of those people, we each have our own minds, and we each have our own personalities.

5 RACIAL EQUALITY BY: FrANZ SANTIAGO Racial equality is the belief that individuals, regardless of their racial characteristics, are morally, politically, and legally equal and should be treated neither as a minority but of same stature. In this modern world, it is unspoken of but evident in the way humans naturally select who they associate with, and who they stay away from, with this in mind it is no doubt that race or cultural heritage is a factor which divides us. People are afraid of what is abstract, or too different from them, and it is being mature, understanding of one another and acceptance which helps broadens an individuals view, allowing them to see the world through not only their perspective, but instead a whole different dimension by knowing the perspective of others. Every skin category which the world has divided us into has their flaws. This segment aims to expose and highlight the top three reasons why it sucks to be white, black and yellow. It is by understanding the flaws the segment aims to inspire others to realize all people aren’t perfect and accept each other regardless of ethnicity or heritage. If everyone sucks then we are equal.

BLACK
1. You’re just black This is the phrase which sums up evey stereotype against dark skin coulored people. It means you are super aethletic, are fast at running love to play basketball, listen to hip hop etc. Which leads onto the next topic... 2. Fried chicken and watermelon It seems as if the world thinks every black person loves fried chicken and watermelon. Which might bre true. But so does millions of people in the world. I you dont like fried chicken or watermelon something must be wrong with you. And yes being vegetarian is abnormal. 3. Every black person is dangerous Many people think black are dangerous, and they all do the reckless stuff portrayed in movies. But it’s not true. Some of them have the biggest hearts. And biggest assets... ahhem I mean personalities.

WHITE
1. Everyone thinks you’re rich If you go overseas all of the locals in asia countries will flock to you and sell you anything they have because they think you have money. But not even just that if you’re in line at your school cafe its always the white guy that gives you the change. 2. White people should sitck to rock and pop music. There is this stereotype which the action that, white people shouldn’t listen to hip hop or rap. For some reason when a white person is listening to rap it is considered abnormal and it suck, everyone should have the freedom to like whatever they want to without being judged. 3. There isn’t much culture being white which you can attach yourself to. Born and raised in a family with no history, no culture. A new culture is formed which is barbeques, beer and music. Some people are happy not having a culture while others just wished they had a history they could discover for themselves.

aussie culture Nathan Simpson Australia is known though-out the world to be an easy-going and laid back nation. We love our beaches, our bush and our beers. Or do we? Is that really all there is to Australian Culture? With the majority of Australians opting for the big cities rather than regional areas, it’s good to take a look at if there is anything more to Australian culture than football, meat pies, kangaroos and Holden cars. Australia has always been a mixed-bag when it comes to culture. Australia was originally inhabited by Aboriginals before the British sailed over here and set-up camp to create what was essentially a prison island for convicts all over the United Kingdom. Since then, the population has grown thanks to immigration from countries such as India, America, Turkey,

Egypt, and practically every other country on the planet. Immigration brings people and their cultures and customs of the new citizen’s former land. Cultures and traditions have a way of staying with an individual or family, therefore, a newly immigrated family would more likely move into a community with people of similar values. In July 2015, a segment on 7 News revealed “The Changing Face of Sydney”, featuring data collected by Social Researcher Mark McCrindle. In the first segment of this 10week series, the data highlighted that certain suburbs contain communities of similar backgrounds. 34.2% of Hurstville residents 35
are Chinese, 32.8% of Cabramatta are Vietnamese, and 41.7% of Arndell Park are Maltese. These suburbs have turned into havens for people of similar backgrounds or religions, and are how Sydney has become so multicultural. Mark Ferguson called Sydney a “miniature United Nations”. In recent times, with threats of terror attacks all over the world, there has been tension between cultural groups, with particular pressure on citizens with an eastern descent. With new mosques forming around the state, including regional areas such as Orange, the concept of terrorism has caused unease within communities. The solution here is to be open and loving
towards each other. Sydney is a city that has been built on Immigration. From the first fleet to the present day, Sydney has attracted immigration with it’s global recognition as one of the most popular cities in the world. It will continue to be built on multiculturalism, so it is important that we strive to build a city that is built on love, acceptance, freedom and the great Australian dream. gone to the dogs Nathan Simpson After all the time that we have been on this planet, we, as a species, still do not understand race. Some believe that races make some people an entirely different species to other people, while some believe that race does not exist. To fully understand Man, we need to turn to Man’s best friend, the Dog. The dog is a species of animal that is seen throughout the world, and has been part of human history for thousands of years. Over many years, new breeds have been created to carry certain traits such as hunting, retrieving, racing and protecting. Different breeds of dog also have different appearance. A French Bulldog is small, has short hair and a short face, but a French Bulldog is no less of a dog than a Border Collie. The dog analogy can be applied to the way we look at race. Although we may all look different, and have different skills, talents and cultures, we are all part of the same species, and thus we should treat everyone with the same respect and love that we expect for ourselves.
