bad mouth the event or people who put them on. Picking a winner is subjective to the person(s) doing it. That's ok too. Going to car shows should be about fun! Go enjoy all the cars and trucks. Check them out and more importantly meet the owners of them. There is the best part of going to a car show...THE PEOPLE. The people in our hobby are the true trophies! The vehicles are nothing without the owners and their families. Spend some time getting to know the car owners parked next to you and you make a friend for life...how cool is that. If you want to really see how your ride stacks up, hit the ISCA Car Show circuit over the winter. The same judging is used from show to show. It’s not easy but if you get picked for an award there...CONGRATS! In the past year we have learned how quickly life can be snatched away from us. Why not go focus on fun and meeting people versus that $10.00 trophy...I promise you will feel better at the end of the day. Now raise your right hand and read the Car Show Creed

We’re halfway thru the year and half way thru the busiest time for car shows during the year, and it is time to break out the CAR SHOW CREED for 2021. I say this and share this because it needs to be said in my opinion. Car shows, whether a one day deal on the weekend or a multi day national event are supposed to be about fun with cars...not getting a trophy. Having been to some events in 2021 and seeing posts on social media about events, apparently there are folks who are living for that $10.00 trophy, whether their ride is the nicest or not. This may sting, but there is always a car or truck nicer than the one we own and drive. That is the cold hard truth. This doesn't mean your ride isn't nice...it doesn’t. I will raise my hand first on this, as there are many much nicer cars than mine. I am ok with that. Don’t get me wrong, we all like to be recognized for our efforts and cars and trucks. This includes me, as its human nature to be recognized by our peers. If we don’t win that trophy though, it’s not the end of the world and we shouldn't

! Electric Dodge Muscle Car Will Arrive in 2024 Dodge has announced that it will soon offer an electric muscle car under what it's calling eMuscle. The new Dodge EV will launch in 2024, and the Detroit-based automaker gave a look at what the new car's front end could look like, and it looks appropriately retro. It's not yet clear if this new Dodge EV will be an electric version of the two-door Challenger or four-door Charger. Dodge placed the Fratzog logo (pictured), which it used in the 1960s and '70s, on the car's grille, and Dodge says that using it is "a nod to the future, which will bring about another great automotive era – the era of the electrified muscle car." Stellantis, Dodge's parent company, announced that it has four dedicated electric vehicle platforms, and three are unibody constructions offering 300 to 500 miles of driving range. We expect the new electric muscle car to use its STLA large platform, which promises up to 500 miles of range. Look for more details on Dodge's electric future soon, and we could also see hybrid models added to the automaker's lineup as well. Jeep and Ram have also announced their electrification plans today.

Return to Greater Victoria Announced For 2022 Northwest Deuce Days The rumors on the road are true: Northwest Deuce Days will continue next year in Victoria under the auspices of its new owner, Destination Greater Victoria. The destination marketing organization announced the purchase of the legendary classic car show from its now-retired founding organizer, Al Clark, at the Grand Pacific Hotel on Thursday (July 8). The hotel has already sold out rooms during the dates of the next confirmed Deuce Days, July 14 to 17, 2022. “Enthusiasm is really high. We have already been receiving calls from car clubs across North America, hotel reservations are happening, and we’re currently working on a website to launch registration in mid- to late August,” said Destination Greater Victoria CEO Paul Nursey. The last Deuce Days event in 2019 was the largest in its 22-year history; it attracted 1,400 classic cars from across the continent (600 of which were Deuces; roadsters built in 1932), fully booked two sailings of the M.V. Coho from Washington state and pumped $2 million into Victoria’s local economy.

THE RETURN OF THE KEITH BLACK RACING ENGINES HEMI & WEDGE Shortly after the introduction of the KB HEMI engine block in the early ‘70s, it went on to hold every national record in Top Fuel between 1975 and 1984. It continues to set records today. Keith Black Racing Engines has completely retooled and now manufactures the only lowpressure-cast aluminum HEMI and Wedge block available in the market. All Keith Black HEMI and Wedge engine blocks start as the same casting, and the final configuration is decided by precision-machining to a finished HEMI or Wedge, Street, or Race block part number. A356 T6 is the best overall performing aluminum and has the best properties for managing heat transfer and load, with 300% greater thermal conductivity than cast iron. While billet aluminum engine blocks may be de rigueur, they are expensive. They often rely on welded water jackets and have yet to prove themselves in street applications where consistent cooling system operation is essential across a great number of heat cycles. Rob Smith from Wolverine Bronze in Roseville, Michigan explains, “low-pressure casting creates a superior microstructure leading to improved mechanical and thermodynamic properties, higher densification and superior grain structure. With modern technology, we can hold extremely tight tolerances that all but eliminates core shift,” a problem that has plagued engine block manufacturers in the HEMI and Wedge for decades. KB Hemi blocks also feature a revised steam hole pattern. The steam holes are relocated outboard, farther away from the cylinder sleeves. This eliminates common head gasket water leaks that occur with other designs and provides for extra cooling around exhaust ports and reduces air pockets. “Bonneville’s Women of Land Speed Racing” Ladies. . . .(and some fellows who have helped, or are inclined to. . . ) The dates are set! I will dual-debut “Bonneville’s Women of Land Speed Racing” on the salt and ask all of you to consider joining me for one, or both big bash book signing. 1st: Tuesday, August 31st during the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials 2nd: Saturday, September 11th during the Utah Salt Flats Racing Association’s World of Speed event. At this point in time, I have confirms from about 20 gals for each event, who are wither racing, or coming to the salt just to help inscribe a rather special marker in the historical timeline. Imagine if we could double that! I not only want to see you all there, but I want you to see each other, meet each other, learn about each other and connect with each other — without being enfolded into other duties, responsibilities, or conflicts. When I started this book project, I was certain I could track down about 150 gals in helmets and record books over 70 years. The book went to press with 307 names, but I am still collecting data and names of those left out for whatever reason. The number now exceeds 320 but with much certifying and verifying to do be done. Only those names that can “pass the detail” muster” are included. The point is: when we are all dead 50 years, this book, and the one to come after, will remain a solid reference tool and historical pointer. I am doing this with help from Betty Burkland, Anne Lindsley and Gail Phillips. We are all being welcomed by both event organizations and will have special credentials and perhaps t -shirts… Will we see you there? Four names are selected each year to racers who have made a contribution and difference in the racing industry. These four honorees are honored with a luncheon, plaque, then their names are placed on the Hall of Fame Rock. Nashville Tennessee is known as the center of country music across the world, but on Memorial Day weekend there was a whole different kind of music playing in Nashville….HOT ROD MUSIC! After Covid cancelled the Nashville Nationals in 2020, hot rodders and car lovers were ready to return to Nashville for the Goodguys 15th Annual Nashville Nationals in big numbers….and they did turn out! The Nashville Nationals take place at NISSAN Stadium located right on the banks of the Cumberland River and 51 just across from the downtown area known as lower

Broad, where the legendary Honky Tonks belt out music all day and all night. The show and the weekend started out wet...REALLY WET! When many hot rodders were rolling into town on Thursday to get settled in and ready for a weekend of fun, the sun was shining on them. Lots of car clean up was taking place at al the hotels around Nashville in preparation for the show. Hot rodders woke up to a very soggy Friday morning...SOGGY! Mother Nature did not get the memo about sunshine all weekend long. Friday saw hot rodders rolling in even though it was raining and at times POURING Rain. One of those times of pouring rain was when the Hot Rod Of The Year (HROTY) contenders took off on their required drive. Kudo’s to all of them for being real hot rodders and driving their cars. We are glad to report that none of the cars melted in the rain and they all cleaned up just fine later in the day. Saturday dawned cloudy and cool, but thankfully no rain! Show goers were able to explore more than 2,000 of the country's best 1987 and older hot rods, customs, muscle cars, trucks, and classics that were on display all over the show site.

Goodguys had all the buttons checked with the many events within the show going on all weekend long. One of the favorites of any Goodguys events is the Autocross. In Nashville the “Music City Mayhem” Goodguys Auto52

the best competitors! The Nitro Thunderfest Vintage Dragster Exhibition was a big hit with the Rat Trap, Rat Poison and Brutus Fuel Altereds firing up and giving everyone a good shot of Nitro Fumes. There were over 150 vendor exhibits, the Swap Meet and Cars 4 Sale Corral, a FREE Kids Zone, Live Entertainment with the Michael Young Band on Saturday and Sunday playing cool tunes and so much more! Sunday dawned bright and sunny to close out the weekend. The All American Sunday celebration opened up to late model American made or powered vehicles and also featured an All American Sunday AutoCross Shootout. Over in the Winners Circle all of the cool picks were on display for everyone to check out. Later Sunday afternoon, the Awards Ceremony took place where the weekend winners were presented with custom-made awards, featuring Builder’s Choice Awards by Alloway’s Hot Rod Shop, and the crowning of the Goodguys 2021 Tanks, Inc. Hot Rod of the Year. After the year that 2020 was, it was great to see people be able to come together safely and have hot rod fun. If you missed the 15th Nashville Nationals, you missed a great event for sure. No worries though, the 16th Annual Nashville Nationals will take place over Memorial Day Weekend in 2022 so make your plans now to be part of this cool event. 54
