The Georgetown Difference Are you ready for a Georgetown EMBA? We offer a reputation for academic excellence embodied by global projects, distinctive courses, and activities that leverage the rich fabric of Washington, D.C.

D.C. Advantage

Since Georgetown University was founded in 1789, our location in the global capital city of Washington, D.C. — the intersection of business, government, and international relations — has provided access to leading business executives and global thought leaders. We offer experiences that few schools can match.

Jesuit Tradition

Georgetown was established on the Jesuit principles of equality, respect, and cura personalis, or care for the whole person, and those same values define the school and the EMBA program today. Our rigorous academic culture still encourages students to collaborate, forge close friendships, and extend learning outside of the classroom.

Global Ready

We will prepare you to become a global-ready leader through two international residencies with business consulting projects, coursework, and case studies. In addition, you will interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff with various work experiences and perspectives across industries and functions, creating a rich learning journey.

Renowned Expertise

Solutions to the world’s big issues lie at the intersection of business and policy, foreign affairs, law, and other areas of expertise that Georgetown’s many programs offer. Our world-class faculty include professionals with broad experience as well as entrepreneurs who mentor students looking to start new ventures.

EMBA program pushed me to think “ Georgetown’s differently, bigger, and more global. I find myself looking

at everything, both personally and professionally, through a different lens. Just a year and a half after the program, I was offered an opportunity in a new firm. Georgetown’s EMBA program prepared me to leverage my new skills and relationships on a much larger scale, allowing me to service a growing base of clients around the globe.

Senior Director (SVP), Head of Advocacy APCO Worldwide

A Rigorous and Rewarding Curriculum Our dynamic EMBA curriculum continually evolves to keep you challenged and engaged. In the first year, the core curriculum presents a common understanding of fundamental business theory and practice. Core classes like accounting, management, and marketing challenge students to master the cross functions of traditional business practice before diving into advanced courses in year two. Your advanced business courses will leverage multidisciplinary offerings from other schools at Georgetown, such as the School of Foreign Services and the McCourt School of Public Policy, a unique advantage to your Georgetown EMBA. The second year of study also provides an opportunity to tailor your MBA through elective courses and an innovative global capstone. You will select five electives to take along with your advanced business courses. Electives vary based on the composition of the cohort, faculty recommendations, and key business issues. The program begins in August and spans 20 months. Classes are held Fridays and Saturdays of alternating weeks in addition to four weeklong residencies, two of which are held internationally.

This introduction to the program provides an in-depth live case experience focused on a specific industry. Apply a high-level view of finance, marketing, strategy, and other fundamental business areas to global companies facing real challenges in today’s competitive international marketplace.

Business Planning Residency: Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Practice the art of creating and pitching a business idea for an entrepreneurial initiative. With coaching from expert advisors, student teams develop an idea for a business or venture within an existing business. The experience culminates in a business pitch competition during which teams deliver presentations to a panel of judges composed of successful entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and faculty.

Global Residencies Global Business Experience: Globalization Challenges Facing the Firm

In this signature Georgetown McDonough experience, student consulting teams work together to solve pressing business problems facing foreign organizations and Fortune 500 companies with operations overseas. At the end of the course, the cohort travels abroad to the client’s facilities to present recommendations to senior leadership.

Global Capstone Residency: Issues for Industries Worldwide

Incorporating all components of the program, student teams study the impact of globalization at the country, industry, and firm levels. With the guidance of a faculty advisor, teams will travel to different parts of the world to conduct field research on a particular country, region, industry, and corporation and produce a research paper that highlights opportunities and challenges on particular topics of interest. To complete the residency, teams highlight their research in a final presentation to the Georgetown McDonough community.

of several highlights of my EMBA experience was “ One journeying to Hong Kong with some of the best from

my cohort. We also managed to arrange several highlevel and informative meetings with business and government leaders. Discussing real estate trends was much different while sitting across from a CEO on the 118th floor at the tallest bar in the world! The insights from the meetings and time with my team members created incredible memories.

Engage in a One-to-One Mentorship with Industry Leaders The best way for leaders to learn is by forging relationships with those who have gone before them. A select number of students participate in our year-long EMBA mentorship program, where they are paired with a high-level executive and allows for the development of a meaningful and impactful relationship. Mentors meet with mentees regularly over one year to share the advice and wisdom that has led to their own success. Students are able to leverage this connection in their networking during and after the program, leading to valuable relationships that often remain strong long after graduation.
