Contributions to the MAAC have a direct impact on the experiential learning opportunities for MBA students.
The Executive Challenge
The Executive Challenge is a day-long, team case competition that serves as the final exam to MBA students’ required Leadership Communications course. The challenge simulates a day-in-thelife of a senior leader. More than 100 alumni judges role-play board members, investors, and senior executives — challenging students to engage them in real-world difficult conversations. It tests students on what they have learned in the areas of leadership communication, influence, motivation, and relationshipbuilding skills.
Scholarships
The MAAC enables greater student success through scholarship support. Every year, the MAAC awards four MBA students scholarships. Additionally, the council works with the school’s Social Impact Internship Fund (SIIF) to select eligible MBA students each summer working in the social impact field. Last year, SIIF met 100% of student demand.
The MBA Mentorship Program
This unique mentorship program connects our students with the wholelife experiences of our alumni in a way that helps them navigate both the MBA program and what life will be like for them in the years after they graduate. The current mentor pool includes McDonough graduates who work in a variety of industries, most prominently in financial services (30%), technology and new media (22%), and consulting (16%). They also represent consumer goods, education, energy/cleantech, healthcare, marketing, nonprofit, public relations, real estate and so much more.
Global Experiential Travel
Georgetown McDonough prepares students to become global-ready leaders by providing a depth of opportunities with support from our alumni community. From international consulting projects in countries such as Colombia, Kenya, and Tanzania, to global social internships, our students gain true global experiences.
“The MAAC has enabled me to give back to an institution that afforded me so much opportunity. I bring my practical experience into the classroom and engage with students. The MAAC helps inspire students to lead no matter where they are to create good in the world.”

"Participating in the Executive Challenge was beyond impactful. The level of preparation from students is phenomenal, the overall event experience created by the faculty is world class, and it reaffirms my belief that Georgetown produces the top-quality MBAs, period. The MAAC is a great vehicle for alumni to help shape the program, provide industry experience, and keep the program highly relevant for today and tomorrow."
