Thailand is in transition to become a leading regional transport hub and logistics center in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). It is investing around 1.9 trillion baht under the Transport Infrastructure Development Plan, 2015-2022 and Urgent Transport Action Plan, 2015, to reach the goal of being a strategic location in the AEC and strengthen its competitiveness. Thailand has also vowed to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2065 with green transport.
The key infrastructure projects focus on rail transport such as double-track rails in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), high-speed trains linking 3 airports and mass transits in Bangkok and its suburbs.
