#GETTHERUNWAYLOOK from Battle Designs Q. How did you fall into the fashion world? "Out of the 6 boys, my mother wanted us to learn how to cook and how to sew, so learned from her. I like the sewing part because it was like a puzzle to me. I ended up taking a pair of pants apart and a shirt, I figured out how to put them together and that's how I got started. As I grew I wanted to make clothes for my mom who was trying to find comfortable fitted clothes for her size. " Q. What inspired your Fall line? "Well, I had a few people say they like At our fashion show this fall we showcased my clothing but they couldn't wear it. That Battle Designs. Whether you did or didn't kind of shocked me because a designer see the show YOU now have an designs. I make a variety of things to suit opportunity to learn more about the different styles & people. My goal was founder, EJ Battle here! back to the basics, which meant something a little different. It didn't mean We were able to get some downtime to ask jeans & "T"shirts or skirts & tops. To me, it EJ some questions, get inspired and see meant taking some looks from previous his sketches! times from the 40's & 50's wear when shape was important." Q. What inspired Battle Designs? "Mostly my name but also the things in life that seem to take longer to do. I never was in the right place at the right time like some people. Don't get me wrong my life took me almost around the world. I learned everything I could, I never put myself in a box. I tried everything from foods, to jobs, to different cultures. All those things gave me a broader outlook in designing clothes."

#GETTHERUNWAYLOOK from Battle Designs Q. What are some goals you have as a designer? "My goals are to get some of my clothes in stores and do some test lines. There a couple of stores that I might be working with in the Fall so we'll see how that goes. I also want to start up a blog called Midnight Madness and not only show a production of a garment but talk about "how to" tricks on sewing that I've used. "

#GETTHERUNWAYLOOK with Founder & Creative Director of La Fille Colette, Colette Chrétien Loved what you saw on the runway? WE DID TOO! Our EIC had the pleasure of interviewing Colette Chrétien from how she got started to what inspires her designs!

Q. Colette, How did you fall into the design world? A. "When I was about 16, I decided that being a fashion designer was what I wanted to do with my life. I've taken some turns since then that didn't directly align with that path, (like majoring in English at Tufts not exactly a fashion school) but I always knew I would come back to design, and a couple years ago, it seemed like the perfect time in my life to start a business and work towards my dream!"

Q. What was the first thing you have ever designed? A. "Well, to go way back, when I was a toddler I loved drawing princesses in the most fanciful ball gowns. I think designing dresses has always been a big part of me, whether I realized it or not . The first garment I designed and made myself was a high neck tank top ..

#GETTHERUNWAYLOOK with Founder & Creative Director of La Fille Colette, Colette Chrétien A. "For my next collection, I've developed a print inspired by Impressionists' paintings of rippling water. When I was designing the dresses, I wanted to play with unexpected cutouts & interesting geometric details on classic, flattering silhouettes. I'm a big fan of color all year round, and don't shy away from bright colors that are "...with an open, strappy back. I think I was about 10 at the time, but I remember typically reserved for the warmer it really well. I think it would definitely still months. I gravitate towards colors look cool today. Very 90's. When I was in that make me happy, not just the high school, that's when I started to design moodier traditional Fall tones." more regularly, and I made all my prom Q. Fall opens the door to luxurious fashions inspired by the red wine color pallet. This year, I wanted to “go bold or go home” by adding a burgundy suit to my collection. Finding the perfect fit for such a statement piece was difficult due to my Dorito shaped, triangular upper body; broad up top, skinny below, and every bit as delicious... or not. INDOCHINO, located on Boston’s Newbury Street, solved my fit issue with their 14 point madeto measure system. They wrapped measuring tape around my shoulders, chest, and stomach to make sure my future suit jacket hugs me like a long lost friend. Made to measure is on the rise as a suiting option, and with good reason; it actually fits. INDOCHINO’s program evaluates each man or woman’s posture so that their suit can be tailored to their unique shape. After the measuring process, the choice of fabric, detailing, and a monogram ensures that each garment encompasses the wearer’s personality. Sporting a new made to measure masterpiece, complete with my favorite specs, I can walk around Boston feeling and looking cooler than Cooler Ranch.

"Founded in 2013 by Karen Lee, all candles are vegan friendly, made of domestically grown soy wax, all cotton wicks, & fine fragrance oils that are essential & perfume oil blends. Great care & detail goes into each candle, resulting in a diverse range of classic & edgy collections of quality, longlasting candles, that enhance any home decor."

#GETTHERUNWAYLOOK WIth LoosenUp Apparel We had the pleasure of connecting with founder of LoosenUp Apparel Adam Lucey. If you were at our #GETSCENE Fall Fashion show you were one of the many who got to see LoosenUp Apparel! Our #GETSCENE team had also got to interview him and ask what inspired his designs and how he got into the industry! Q. How did you know you wanted to become a designer? "I started drawing at a young age and gradually improved as I got into high school. After graduating, I knew that I wanted to do something with art but wasn't sure what. Then one day, I tossed around the idea of apparel. I created a few designs, tested it out and before I knew it, I had friends asking me about the stuff. The rest is history. "

Q. What inspires your designs? "Most of my inspiration stems from looks by my favorite designers & brands. I spend a great deal of time analyzing and studying new collections, the textures, lines and elements. When you combine that with my appreciation of cartoons (specifically Looney Toons) you get LoosenUp Apparel. "

Q. What are some goals you have as a designer? "The sky is the limit when it comes to my design career. My clothing isn't just about the designs, it's about what the brand representsa way of life. At the end of the day, I want people to see the brand for the wearable art I create. Rather than look for a logo, the look for my brand representation through the pictures, the characters. #GETSTYLEDBYGILDA With Boston Personal Stylist and Wardrobe Consultant, Gilda Miranda Q. Do you have a particular style recommendation for Fall?

Everyone is always looking for the right outfit! Boston's personal stylist and wardrobe consultant , Gilda Miranda is here to help you look your best! We were able to get some down time with Gilda and ask her a few questions of Fall trends and how she got into the field of styling! "I get "it" from my parents." says Gilda. "My mother has THREE closets & my father has an obsession with shoes. Like my parents, I've always loved to dress up . I still look forward to occasions where I have to get fancy! I believe that wearing a great outfit provides salvation on a bad day, armor for the tough meeting, & the courage to walk into a cocktail party full of people & feel totally confident. I can't imagine begging off an evening because I have nothing to wear."

"This Fall, I recommend people play with textures & fabrics. Yes, cold weather sucks, but at least we'll have a good reason to wear an ornate pair of gloves, a beautiful velvet jacket, an embroidered skirt. Just remember that it doesn't have to be anything too unusual to be considered stylish. Stick to a silhouette that compliments your shape, but mix it up a bit when it comes to the fabric choice: velvets, sequins, embroidery, patent leather just not all at once, of course!" Q. When you aren't working what do you like to do for fun? "I consider myself a foodie or maybe it's just that I love to eat? Either way, my idea of fun is a night out with the girls or my husband. I'm currently obsessing over Greek cuisine. I also love to dance. Any genre of music works for me as long as it can keep me on the dance floor. Believe it or not, shopping 'til I drop is ALWAYS fun for me. It's not just work for me, it's also my favorite pastime. "

The phone call is a great opportunity to connect and simmer any nervous feelings on the clients end. After the client books, she schedules the first appointment & then they are automatically sent a style analysis form to fill out & a prep email full of information on how to prepare for their exciting day! #GETSOCIAL with Gilda www.styledbygilda.com IG: @styledbygilda FB: @PersonalStylebyGildaMiranda TW: @styledbygilda

#GETSCENE Magazine had the pleasure of having GENERATIONS cinemastories cover our first premiere fashion show and magazine print launch. We asked the founders, Naomi & Jack a little about who they are and how GENERATIONS cinemastories got started! While Jack's background is in audio visual production, Naomi’s experience includes; Personal Growth Consultant, Couple’s Counselor, and Teacher. Naomi also sits on the NENACE board handling Communications & PR for New England NACE. They both sponsor NACE and ILEA events.

Q. How did Generations Cinema stories come together? "Generations cinemastories came together when we filmed the first same sex wedding in Boston, on 5/17/2004. A couple of days before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision, legalizing equal marriage, we met David Wilson, who along with his partner Rob Compton, were one of the 7 plaintiff couples who challenged the constitutionality of Massachusetts ban on same sex marriage. When the law was overturned, David called us and asked if we would be interested in filming their wedding. Of course, we said “Yes”. Q. What is one of your favorite things to capture on video?

"Of course, we love to film weddings, & family events. We’ve filmed weddings for a US Senator’s daughter, a New England Patriot player and hundreds of other wonderful couples. We also film lots of other things. A few weeks ago, we were hired by the Boston Public Library to film the reopening celebration of the Central branch on Boylston Street. We also have a niche producing films for nonprofit fundraising and brand awareness. In the past year, I’ve traveled to California, Florida, & Arizona to film corporate events. Naomi has made two short, doc films in the past ten years, and is starting to fundraise for her third." Interested in working with GENERATIONS cinemastories?! www.generationscinemastories.com

Jamberry has been around for some time, but I bet you didn't know that they have lacquer polish and a gel polish system as well as their innovative wraps! I was lucky enough to work with Jams by Kara to bring you two new nail looks for fall. The Black Cherry gel polish is a rich, dark shade. Then to really bump up the look, I added the Gold Chevron pattern wrap. I decided I didn't want to just use the wrap one way, but three ways! First, I did full wrap on my middle fingers, then half moon wrap design on my pinkies, and lastly, a half wrap on each thumb! My second look is designed to help you transition from those fun summer brights to the darker looks of fall. I played around with the lacquer in 'Antique' and two different wraps. It’s a gorgeous way to ease into the new season. #GETTHATBEACHBODY With Holistic Health Coach & Personal Trainer Vanessa Merlo When starting your fitness routine its hard to know where to start. There are so many cool & fun exercises to try. Before you dive into the next new exercise that you read in a magazine or see at the gym there are two exercises that you should master first: The squat and the plank! The core is the most important muscle in your body. Without a strong core you will not be able to maximize all other exercises. A plank will not only strengthen your core but it utilizes every muscle group in the body. My second go to exercise is the squat. This is a dynamic movement that you use everyday throughout the day without even noticing. Getting up from a chair, in & out of your car, on & off the toilet! It’s a movement that you will use throughout your life. Once you master the squat & plank form, you can then start to add weight, jumps and much more!
