On September 16th, 2016 NEXTonSCENE Magazine held a fabulous launch party + fashion show at Down Nightclub in Boston. There , we showcased local up + coming businesses + designers. The first hour, we had SIX amazing local vendors able to showcase during cocktail hour from LoosenUpApparel, Kay L Candles, Zion Accessories, Jams by Kara, The Next Gentleman & Stella & Dot by Jaimie Adler. Furthermore, you were able to mingle, shop, meet these amazing entrepreneurs, drink some fun signature drinks and have some complimentary appetizers. Following cocktail hour, our fashion show took place + Comedian Mark Riley did a stand up show. Following the show, Mark interviewed each designer after their lines walked. Our designers included : Battle Designs, La Fille Colette + LoosenUp Apparel. After the event, all guests were able to go home with amazing SWAG from local & nationwide businesses from special vouchers hair product, makeup + of course a copy of our FALL ISSUE! How did you fall into the world of television?! "While I was at N.Y.U. Film School, I worked as an NBC PAGE at night at 30 ROCK." Where are you originally from? "New York City. The West Side of Manhattan." How did the show "Saved by the Bell" come together?! "President of NBC, Brandon Tartikoff put me under a producing contract & asked me to create a LIVE action Saturday morning show. Which ironically, I didn't want to do at first." What was your role as Executive Producer day to day? "Overseeing every element of the production & also writing & supervising ALL the scripts."

Relationships & Holiday Gifting. Frightful or Delightful?
Having said that, here are three important facts to consider:
1. Talk about it. If you genuinely care about your
partner, ask them ahead of time if there is something special they would like for the Holidays. If you already know what they enjoy, be sure to make an effort to do something thoughtful & show you care.
What better time of year to show your feelings about a special someone than the Holidays! Gift giving around this season can be fun, tricky, confusing & anxiety provoking for some. Sometimes, it can make or break the relationship due to expectations and the emotions they evoke. The Holidays often gauge the temperature and status of a relationship. If the relationship is a meaningful one, you can be sure that your “other” will present you with something special. Whether it be a romantic dinner, a special surprise, something bling for her or something on his “wish list”. Sometimes even a small token of affection can go a long way. You may not get exactly what you asked for, but the thought is key.

Keep it simple. If you and your partner are on a budget, don’t overspend! Buy a special card, make a plan for a special outing that is within your limits, or cook a special meal together. Find a special photo of the two of you and display it in a decorative frame. Think of thoughtfulness versus price tag.

If you are not feeling it….. If your intuition is nagging you that this relationship may not be working any longer, think before you act. Don’t confuse your partner by buying something special then slipping out the back door or doing something thoughtless hoping they “get the hint”. I had a learning disability & really struggled in college. One day, I was chatting with a friend & they suggested I became a hairstylist. Once I started, it was really the first time in my life where I wasn't struggling. I was excelling! Also, while many wedding cakes are only ‘real’ on the very top & the rest is faux, replicate your cake into cupcakes that way your guests can enjoy.

NEXTonSCENE Brides The Millennial Love Expert, Samantha Burns On August 10, 2014, I made the most important commitment of my life while wearing a beautiful white gown that I did not want to take off. After the guests left, my husband and I reflected on all of the festivities and it was at that moment that I was inspired to begin an annual tradition of wearing my wedding dress on every anniversary. Start out with a shiny base and then go in with a contrasting shimmer polish. I used Delush in 'Lord of Envy' and create a triangle. Once dry, use a small liner brush to create a line to outline the triangle. Add a little top coat to make the shimmers pop.
This look is a little more classic & perfect for new years. Two coats of Delush in 'Poisoned Vine' & then go in with the liner brush to create an icle type french manicure.The great thing about this manicure is the lines don't need to be perfect.
Start with a green polish and using the end of the liner brush or a dotting tool create different size dots all over the top 1/3 of your nail. Go in with additional Xmas colors, I used red and gold. Once you achieve the amount of dots you like, top coat and you now have a fun manicure!

His physical therapist happened to also work with the New York Islanders. Growing up on Long Island, I was a huge Isles fan. Every Saturday, I would tag along with my dad for his rehab. We would always see a few of the players getting treatment & I thought it was so cool that the same guys I would watch on TV or LIVE at the Nassau Coliseum would talk to me and knew my name. Pat LaFontaine & Brad Lauer would even ask to borrow my GameBoy (I was addicted to PaperBoy). I knew then, that I wanted to work with athletes.'
"Wow, that’s a tough question. There have been so many of them. From working on programs at Super Bowls & AllStar Games, a trip to Asia with Stephen Curry to promote Under Armour international, traveling to Brazil for a SUBWAY commercial shoot with Pele and Michael Phelps. But I have to say the most rewarding experience for me has been building some incredible relationships with clients, media, athletes & entertainers. Relationships are everything in this business & I take tremendous pride in building & maintaining them. Sounds simple, but ALWAYS treat people the way you want them to treat you!"

The first piece of advice is to ALWAYS follow that passion. To wake up every single day & love what you do is the greatest feeling in the world. One of my ALLTIME favorite quotes is “You can’t have a million dollar dream with a minimum wage work ethic” "The second thing is to NEVER take no at face value! You can teach a person a job but what you can’t teach are those intangibles. That drive, determination, attitude, willingness to do whatever it takes to make something happen. Those come from within. Show people how hungry you are!"
Q. What are some hobbies you enjoy when you are not working ? "Is LIFE a hobby? I LOVE life and everything about it! (Yes I am the most enthusiastic person in the world). I enjoy spending time with my wife, working out, traveling, trying new restaurants, being outdoors, binge watching repeat episodes of Friday Night Lights & How To Get Away With Murder. Of course, I can't forget hoe much I love hanging out with our dog Teddy!"

Tell us about your background & how you got into art. "When I was really, really young, my mother took me to her close friend's art gallery in Miami. I saw artwork by Erte'. At the time, my mom had the zeus and hera pieces. I was enamored. After that I knew I wanted to be an artist." What was the first piece of art you created?
How would you describe your art & what is your inspiration?
"As an adult, it was my first assignment in 3D art class in college. A chucky doll from the movie "Chucky" covered in swirls of many colors of yarn with rhinestones , beads & glitter as lipstick. My teacher kept it."
"My inspiration is the 10 hours a day I played barbies with my little sister and all of the scary movies we watched. Now I think of all things that are incredibly funny, futuristic, & other dimensional. I LOVE outerspace, poltergeist & portlandia." Tell me about your creative process & how you go about creating these masterpieces? " I have very funny & supernatural ideas. I just go with it, no matter how random it is! When I use pez dispensers, toys, barbies I paint them, customize & do original photo shoots. I then blow up my prints & cover them with resin. This makes them shiny like hard candy. I then add black light mediums, lots of glitter, stickers, rhinestones, & so many other things."

What Can YOU do with a couple of dumbbells?
Bicep Curls Using Dumbbells:
When people think of starting an exercise program, they normally stress out about selecting a gym, selecting what exercises to do & most of all consistently going to the gym and seeing results!
1. Stand up straight with a dumbbell in each hand at arm's length. Keep your elbows close to your torso and rotate the palms of your hands until they are facing forward. This will be your starting position.
We are ALL busy, so Jeff DeSocio of AIMC Health Solutions would like to demonstrate a few easy exercises that you can simply do with a couple of dumbbells? Chances are, you can find a couple of dumbbells at your local sports store, your basement or at a hotel. No excuses so let's get started!
2. Now, keeping the upper arms stationary, exhale and curl the weights while contracting your biceps. Continue to raise the weights until your biceps are fully contracted and the dumbbells are at shoulder level. Hold the contracted position for a brief pause as you squeeze your biceps.
First , you can start with a nice Vitamin B shot of Awake Energy (below). Then you can move onto some great exercises for your Shoulders, Arms, Back and Legs.
3. Then, inhale and slowly begin to lower the dumbbells back to the starting position. 4. Do 3 sets of 10 reps & always have control of the weight & with consistent form. Do this three or four days a week and see results!

"My Mom was a country singer around Texas when she was my age so she exposed me to all the music she knew and loved. Who is someone you really admire in the music industry and why? "I admire female musicians who rock out and are larger than life like Joan Jett, Reba, Alanis Morissette, Dolly. These ladies are unapologetically themselves through their art and brand." Tell us about your latest holiday single, Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree? "Growing up this was and still is my favorite Christmas song. This song brings so many happy memories to me and I hope with my country twanged version is also brings people a little bit of joy."
