Welcome to
This is a unique year for us as we reflect on several life and work milestones. These thoughts have very much shaped this year’s program… the stories, the art, the poetry, the music.
We are thrilled to bring this Christmas concert to our wonderful home city of Belfast for the first time this year! We hope the idea of ‘coming home for Christmas’ speaks to the soul for all of us as we sing carols together.
Thank you to our team and special guests who are adding their skill and passion to these concerts. And thank you all for celebrating this hope-filled season with us.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS,
Keith and Kristyn
“The sweetest thing in all my life has been the longing — to reach the Mountain, to find the place where all the beauty came from — my country, the place where I ought to have been born. Do you think it all meant nothing, all the longing? The longing for home? For indeed it now feels not like going, but like going back.”
(C.S. Lewis, Till We Have Faces)

Founded in 1968, Release International is a UK-based Christian ministry committed to supporting believers worldwide who face persecution for their faith in Christ. Inspired by the life and witness of Pastor Richard Wurmbrand—who endured 14 years in communist prisons and shared his powerful testimony in Tortured for Christ—Release International continues to strengthen and encourage those suffering for the sake of the Gospel.
Active in around 30 countries, Release International provides prayerful, pastoral, and practical support to persecuted Christians. Their steadfast mission calls us to stand in unity with our brothers and sisters in Christ who suffer for their faith.
We are honored to partner with Release International as we seek to inspire churches and individuals to deepen their worship and boldly share the Gospel.
SPECIAL GUESTS INCLUDE
ABOUT KEITH AND KRISTYN GETTY
Keith and Kristyn Getty are hymn writers, GRAMMY®-nominated artists and the founding leaders of the Getty Music organization who hail from Northern Ireland. Their greatest musical passion is writing and championing great hymns of the church.
Their songwriting journey began in 2000 when Keith wrote the tune for “In Christ Alone” on the back of a Northern Ireland Electricity bill. Many songs, albums, and—most importantly—four daughters later, they still wake up each morning amazed that they get to spend their days crafting melodies and words to encourage and inspire the people of God.
Keith and Kristyn love fostering creative collaborations. They established Getty Music with a view to the year 2050 in the hope that individuals, families, and churches would celebrate the beauty of Christ-centered hymnody. Their hymn writing team includes a growing array of contributors who are as committed to family and the local church as they are to the craft of songwriting. Their group’s songs include more than 50 in the top 500 titles sung in US/UK churches, and their original publishers, Integrity Music, estimate that more than 100 million people around the globe sing this music every year in a diverse array of contexts. Their hymns uniquely cross genres, finding expression in styles from contemporary to classical as well as folk and global. The Getty Music team is currently developing the Sing! Hymnal, slated to be released in 2025 in partnership with Crossway.
Keith and Kristyn enjoy filling their lives with songs of the Lord, whether at home with their daughters, in the sanctuary of their local church, or all of the places around the world they’ve had the privilege to visit—from Carnegie Hall to the Grand Ole Opry House, the Kennedy Center to Sydney Opera House, with performances for Presidents, Prime Ministers, and television specials on PBS, CBS, BBC, and TBN in between! They host the annual Sing! Conference in Nashville, TN (named after their 2017 book), and are now particularly excited to share Sing! events on each continent, as well as helping lead music this year at the Fourth Lausanne Congress in South Korea.
According to Christianity Today, Keith and Kristyn have “changed the way evangelicals worship.” The hymn “In Christ Alone,” co-written with writing mentor Stuart Townend, has received numerous accolades, from being named the second most beloved hymn in the UK by the BBC to being selected as one of the top five hymns of all time by the British Hymn Society. Keith was the first contemporary Christian musician to be awarded Officer of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in 2018 for his contributions to music and hymnody, and more of his compositions appear in CCLI’s Top 500 Songs in the UK than those of any other songwriter. The couple’s other acknowledgments include one GRAMMY® nomination, one mainstream Billboard #1, two GMA Dove awards (with 16 nominations), three honorary doctorates, receiving Fellowship of the Royal School of Church Music, and the Freedom of the City of Lisburn and Castlereagh.
Kristyn’s creativity has also led to wider opportunities such as recording the entire ESV Bible as an audio version for Crossway and appearances in films including Pilgrim’s Progress, Sabina, and the international edition of Leroy and Stitch. She is delighted to be releasing several children’s books. The Getty Girls, following the COVID hymn sings, won a GMA Dove Award for their album “Hymns from Home” as well as appearing on recordings, two tv documentaries and on each of their parents’ tours.
Keith and Kristyn are especially excited about the Getty Music Foundation, a new non-profit organization with a mission to educate hymn writers and spur biblical worship in under-resourced areas of the globe.
Together with their four daughters, Keith and Kristyn live between Northern Ireland and Nashville.
ABOUT GETTY MUSIC
The Getty Music Organization exists to create and curate hymns for the 21st century church. Our passion has always been to join rich theology, timeless artistry, and vibrant singing for the whole family of God in churches around the globe, a work that is expressed through multiple endeavors.
Getty Music began in 2000 as an expression of Keith and Kristyn’s vision toward the year 2050.
Getty Music Publishing is now home for a collection of hymns from a team including Keith and Kristyn Getty, Tommy Bailey, Matt Boswell, Bryan Fowler, Jordan Kauflin, Sandra McCracken, Matt Papa, Skye Peterson, Ben Shive, and Laura Story.
Getty Music Sing! Conference is an annual festival-style conference in Nashville, TN, with other expressions online and in major events around the world.
Getty Music Touring exists to create events built on the hymns alongside opportunities to educate church leaders. It hosts annual Christmas and Hymn tours along with an ongoing series of international events.
Getty Music Label is a unique record and print label for hymns. It creates audio and video recordings from Keith and Kristyn Getty (including the GRAMMY®-nominated album Confessio: Irish American Roots), Matt Boswell and Matt Papa, the Sing! Live series, and the Getty Kids Hymnal in partnership with Capitol Christian Music Group, along with an extensive print catalog for congregations and choirs.
Getty Music’s Sing! Hymnal is an expansive new resource, to be published in partnership with Crossway in 2025, which will include a family of various print and digital editions.
Getty Music Foundation, a separate and independently operated not-for-profit organization, seeks to invest in educating the next generation of hymn writers and church musicians, with a particular emphasis on under-resourced parts of the world. In 2022 the Foundation supported the translation of Sing! Conference sessions into 15 different languages as well as granted scholarships for delegates to travel to Sing! Events around the globe. This year the Foundation additionally will help host several global teaching events, and in 2024 it will support the Fourth Lausanne Congress in Seoul, South Korea.
Keith and Kristyn Getty established the Getty Music Foundation in 2021 as a global expansion of their vision to equip believers with hymns to carry for life. The Foundation’s ministry activities include training global hymn writers, hosting educational events, translating and distributing teaching resources, and connecting strategic leaders to the work of deepening Christ-centered corporate worship. Through an ever-growing network of like-minded partners, the Foundation seeks to invigorate the next generation of hymn writers and musical leaders, all with the prayerful hope that churches around the world might be increasingly marked by rich theology, timeless artistry, and robust singing.
This year, the Foundation’s efforts included creating and curating special training for hymn writers and translators from all over the world, especially those in developing nations. It also had the exciting opportunity to back the Getty’s leadership of worship at the Fourth Annual Lausanne Congress in Seoul, South Korea, where over 220 countries were represented
As the Foundation moves into 2025, we are excited to continue the work of equipping churches and families with hymns they can indeed carry for life. If you would like to join us in these important endeavors, please contact us at: www.GettyMusicFoundation.org.
Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you and yours.

Home for Christmas
BY KRISTYN GETTY
In 1943, American soldiers were experiencing their first Christmas away from home during World War II. The song “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” was released that year, and Bing Crosby’s voice went out widely across the airwaves.
With its gaze homeward at a special time of the year, the song spoke to that universal love and longing for the place you feel most welcome, secure, connected. This year, for the first time in a while, we will be home for Christmas in Northern Ireland — so we recorded this song in honor of that!
When we first moved to America nearly 20 years ago, ideas of home suddenly became more significant. We were trying to build a new one in a new land while also being very much aware of our home thousands of miles away. We saw things at different angles. Feeling a little on the outside brought us into the inside of a deeper sense of home that’s beyond geography and beyond time.
Frederick Buechner once wrote, “Faith is homesickness. Faith is a lump in the throat… Faith is waiting. Faith is journeying through space and through time.”
Homesickness is such a compelling way to consider a life of faith. To follow Christ and find our rest in Him will always mean earthly life is a pilgrim journey; an immigrant’s story. One day I will be truly home. The love of home as we find it here and now only presses that hope in more. This
thought has always grown my sense of adventure, and when I have felt homesick or lonely, kept my heart up.
No home on earth is permanent. But perhaps our longing for home is the very thing that reminds us that we are made for something beyond what we can see, beyond what can be held in time and space.
If you feel on the outside looking in this evening…If your sense of home feels broken… If there is a homesickness niggling at your soul…Listen to the words of the carols, hear their good tidings, ask the Lord to open your heart to receive His grace, and be welcomed home.
Our first home in America affectionately called the little blue house!
I Am The Door of the Sheepfold
Malcolm Guite
Not one that’s gently hinged or deftly hung, Not like the ones you planed at Joseph’s place, Not like the well-oiled openings that swung So easily for Pilate’s practiced pace, Not like the ones that closed in Mary’s face From house to house in brimming Bethlehem, Not like the one that no man may assail, The dreadful curtain, The forbidding veil That waits your breaking in Jerusalem.
Not one you made but one you have become: Load-bearing, balancing, a weighted beam To bridge the gap, to bring us within reach Of your high pasture. Calling us by name, You lay your body down across the breach, Yourself the door that opens into home.
Food on the table this Christmas?
We can’t wait to gather with friends and family over Christmas to celebrate our Saviour’s birth. We’ll slow down a little and remember that not-so silent night when love came down to earth, bringing light and life to all, as we enjoy festive treats, crisp walks and try to remain friends over competitive rounds of Scrabble.
But this won’t be everyone’s reality: around the world, families are caught in the cycle of poverty. You can help. And when you donate to Tearfund today, your donation will be DOUBLED, meaning it will have twice the impact.
Malich (pictured here with her daughter, Guyayu, who is 6) and her family live in northern Kenya.
Communities like Malich’s have always relied on livestock farming to survive, but continuous cycles of droughts and floods mean that is no longer possible. Animals have died, wells have run dry, and temperatures are soaring. Hunger is a constant threat: there may not be food on the table this Christmas.
Families must search for water while they survive on little more than wild fruit to eat. And this is often the women’s
job, walking tens of kilometres in search of food and water, leaving them vulnerable to attacks as they seek to keep their families alive.
It’s time to break the cycle and help families like Malich’s thrive.
What’s more, your donation will be DOUBLED by SPAR, EUROSPAR, ViVO and ViVOXTRA until 31st January 2025, so that even more families around the world can break the cycle of extreme poverty.
Together, let’s help families thrive and break the cycle of poverty this Christmas.

Entry Point
Andrew Roycroft
Were time and space heavy on Gabriel’s limbsa sickness of plunged altitude, slow hours out of infinite - as he entered earth’s small vault, stooping further still under jambs of the low-ceilinged temple, miniature insubstantial shadow, atom of heaven?
And there at ease in the fraught holiness that made hearts tremble, did he meet, with wonder, a great miracle to an angel mind: that men, beholding glory, were still blind?

Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence
Let all mortal flesh keep silence
And with fear and trembling stand Ponder nothing earthly minded
For, with blessing in His hand Christ our God to earth descendeth Our full homage to demand
King of kings, yet born of Mary
As of old on earth He stood Lord of lords, in human vesture
In the body and the blood
He will give to all the faithful His own self for heav'nly food
Rank on rank the host of heaven Spreads its vanguard on the way As the Light of light descendeth From the realms of endless day That the pow'rs of hell may vanish As the darkness clears away
At His feet the six-winged seraph
Cherubim with sleepless eye Veil their faces to the Presence
As with ceaseless voice they cry
“Alleluia, alleluia
Alleluia, Lord Most High!”
“Alleluia, Lord Most High!”

Lesson Five

from Luke 1:26-35
Magnificat with Wexford Carol
My soul will magnify the Lord; I rejoice in God my Savior, In the wonder of His favor. For He has done great things for me; He was mindful of His servant. Every age shall call me blessed. The Hope of Abraham come In the giving of a Son; For He who promised is mighty In remembering His mercy.
My soul will magnify the Lord For His grace to those who fear Him Through every generation. The proud He scatters to the wind As the ruler’s strength is broken, And the rich are left with nothing. The humble lifted high, And the hungry satisfied; Our Portion and our Treasure, Our Hope and Help forever.

Lesson Six
And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
from Luke 2:1, 3-7
Wayfaring Stranger
I’m just a poor, wayfaring stranger traveling through this land of woe There’ll be no sickness, toil, nor danger In that bright land to which I’ll go
I’m going there to see my Father I’m going there, no more to roam I’m just a going over Jordan I’m only going over home
I know dark clouds will gather o’er me I know my way is rough and steep But golden fields lie out before me Where weary eyes no more shall weep
I’m going there to see my mother She said she’d meet me when I come I’m only going over Jordan I’m only going over home
I’ll soon be free from every trial This form will rest beneath the sod I’ll drop the cross of self-denial And enter in my home with God
I’m going there to see my brothers They passed before me one by one Im just a going over Jordan Im just a going over home
I’m going there to meet my savior To sing His praise forevermore I’m only going over Jordan I’m only going over home

Lesson Eight
And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.
from Matthew 2:1-12
In the Bleak Midwinter (Gloria)
In the bleak midwinter
Frosty wind made moan
Earth stood hard as iron
Water like a stone
Snow had fallen snow on snow
Snow on snow
In the bleak midwinter
Long ago
Our God heav’n cannot hold Him
Nor earth sustain
Heav’n and earth shall flee away
When He comes to reign
In the bleak midwinter
A stable place sufficed
For the Lord, God Almighty
Jesus Christ
Gloria, Gloria
Now, my eyes have seen
Soli Deo Gloria
He, salvation brings
As the Lord has promised I may go in peace
What can I give Him
Poor as I am
If I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb
If I were a wise man I would do my part
Yet what I can I give Him
Give my heart
Gloria, Gloria
Now my eyes have seen
Soli Deo Gloria
He, salvation brings
In the bleak midwinter I may go in peace
As the Lord has promised I may go in peace

Lesson Nine
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Here at Torch, we want everyone across the UK to feel welcome at church, no matter their level of sight.
We make resources in large prints and braille to be used in church, and in a person’s devotional life.

An Irish Christmas Blessing
Keith & Kristyn Getty
Now may the fragrance of His peace
Soar through your heart like the dove released
Hide in His wings oh weary, distant soul
He'll guide your spirit home
And may His love poured from on high
Flow to the depths of your deepest sigh
Oh come and drink from the only living stream
And on His shoulder lean
And may the hope that will not deceive
Through every pain bring eternal ease
There is no night that can steal the promises
His coming brings to us
So may His joy rush over you
Delight in the path He has called you to
May all your steps walk in Heaven's endless light
Beyond this Christmas night
