Allez Apartments in Redmond, Washington
Creating places that inspire a sense of belonging. At GGLO, we design distinct places where communities of people connect and thrive. We seek to bring the essence of community alive in each of our projects – believing that the fundamental desire to interact and feel a part of something can be evoked through design. This perspective runs deep through our integrated practice, including research, planning, urban design, architecture, interior design and landscape architecture. Integrating our skills and services allows a deep exploration for how design can have the most positive impact in any context.
VALUES GGLO was founded on the premise that design is the exploration and cultivation of relationships. Whether between city and citizen, builder and inhabitant, surface and light, or efficiencies and cost, each presents rich opportunities for discovery, refinement, and growth. Our role as designers is to embrace the myriad considerations and interactions that make up our projects and to craft solutions that are responsible, meaningful, and enduring. HISTORY Founded in Seattle in 1986, we are results-driven, multidisciplinary experts approaching all scales of our work with flexibility and inquisitiveness. Over decades of practice GGLO has established a reputation in revitalizing communities—building-by-building and block-by-block. Our commitment to design that expands and enhances the human experience extends across all boundaries and into each and every one of our pursuits.
In the last 27 years, GGLO has designed approximately 22% of the multifamily units added to Seattle. AMLI South Lake Union in Seattle, Washington

Enduring places grow from enduring relationships. We pride ourselves on not only being good at our work, but also good to work with. Excellent design puts people first. At GGLO, we can happily say the same.
Bike Enthusiasts BizCycle Certification Awarded Gold by Cascade Bicycle Club In the spring of 2013, GGLO purchased four Bianchi Milano bicycles. These bikes are available for all GGLO staff to reserve and take out for rides. Each bike comes with one helmet, one U-lock, one cable lock and a GGLO pannier bag.
We design for experiences that inspire. The Living Building Challenge TM
is the built environment's most rigorous performance standard. The Bertschi Living Building Science Classroom, which GGLO's Landscape Architecture provided pro-bono services, is: • the 1st building on the West Coast to achieve full Living Building Challenge certification; the world's 4th Living Building; • the 1st in the world constructed to meet the Living Building Challenge v2.0, including urban agriculture; and • the world's 1st Living Building constructed on an urban site.

Sustainability GGLO is committed to the advocacy and practice of Sustainable Design across the spectrum of our work, in the environments we design and the operations of our workplace. We strive to “Enhance environment, economy and social equity.” Sustainable GGLO design projects range from new market rate and affordable housing to mixed-use developments and from the renovation of historic buildings to the expansion of recreational environments. In addition to our built work, we are continuously expanding our technical knowledge base and understanding of the social and natural environments through research and design projects. In an effort to improve the building industry’s environmental and health performance, we have requested product manufactures provide transparency of building product content and associated health information through the use of a Health Product Declaration.
GGLO’s design teams are not only skilled at integrating sustainability into designs, our architects, landscape architects and interior designers are experienced with leading the certification efforts to streamline the process. GGLO has been recognized as a LEED® Proven Provider™ for the Building Design and Construction rating system family by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).
Organizations that demonstrate and maintain high-quality project submissions through LEED Proven Provider receive significant benefits, such as greater access to a LEED reviewer and the opportunity to deliver LEED projects to clients faster.

Why we love Seattle!
Seattle is nicknamed the Emerald City because it rains 140 days annually, keeping our city lush and green.
Get outdoors in the Pacific Northwest! Beautiful hikes, waterfalls and rivers are all within driving distance.
Foodies love Seattle! New restaurants pop-up and opening every month means you could never have to eat the same thing twice!
Home to more than 200 vendors, farmers and specialty shops. Pike Place Market is Seattle’s #1 tourist destination, just blocks from GGLO!
Space at the Steps is a public event venue in GGLO’s office that we make available to non-profits and other groups that share our core values of community and sustainable urbanism.
