EXERCISE 6PROTOTYPE AND TEST

Objective

The participants now have a very good idea about their entrepreneurial opportunity. But it is very important to test your idea with the customers and make prototypes of your products. Would anyone in your community buy your service?

Description

1. Ask the participants to focus on the idea they have chosen after the idea fair. During the next two weeks they will have time to go home and test their product and make a prototype if relevant.

2. Support the participants to prepare for this by asking them to consider the following:

Market and demand for your idea:

• How can you research if and what the market are for your idea?

• Who will be your customers?

• What do the customers think of your idea?

• Are they willing to pay for the product or service that you will offer?

• How much are they willing to pay?

• How much does is cost to produce your product or deliver your service? Is there a profit?

• Can you get the materials you need locally?

3. Prototyping: It is important to have a model of the product or service you deliver. In the YC lab you can start to make a prototype that you can show your future customers and partners. Remember to be a bricoleur!!!

The next exercises can be used as inspiration or if you want to extend the idea generation process.
