The innovative Ballet BCVancuver to perform at the Arriga theatre

Bold and innovative, the Canadian company displays its talent in a programme with three great international choreographers and choreographers. From 11 to 12 February.

Founded in 1986, the Canadian company Ballet BC, based in Vancouver, has developed an impressive repertoire with the greatest international choreographers namely William Forsythe, Ohad Naharin and Emanuel Gat, and with dancers of the highest level who have consolidated their reputation all over the world.

On their first visit to Arriaga Theatre, their director, Medhi Walerski, a former NDT dancer and choreographer, offers a particularly exciting triple bill. The performance begins with Garden, a piece created by Walerski himself who was inspired by the Quintet for piano and strings in A minor by Camille Saint-Saëns to create a fluid and organic work that fosters a fascinating dialogue between the refined music and the sensual bodies of the dancers.

In The Statement, the second piece of the evening, the well-known Canadian choreographer Crystal Pite proposes a wildly inventive creation that combines dance and theatre to explore the conflict of power. Four performers locked in battle for control confront manipulation in a piece based on a powerful text by the Canadian playwright Jonathon Young.

PHOTO-ARABA, más de 100.000 fotos históricas en Internet

Este portal, creado por el Archivo de Álava para la difusión del patrimonio fotográfico de la Diputación Foral, alcanza ya las cien mil imágenes difundidas a través de Internet. Junto con la última ampliación del número de imágenes, PHOTO-ARABA ha añadido una nueva exposición virtual dedicada al ascenso del Deportivo Alavés a Primera División en 1954.

Es un proyecto cultural en continuo crecimiento desde que se inauguró el pasado 10 de junio con 50.000 fotografías. Menos de seis meses después ya ha duplicado este volumen y se convierte en el sitio web de Euskadi con mayor volumen de fotografías históricas disponibles para la consulta y descarga gratuita.

En los próximos meses PHOTO-ARABA seguirá creciendo en sus contenidos que se incluirán en los portales Euskariana –del Gobierno Vasco–, Hispana –del Ministerio de Cultura y Deporte– y Europeana –de la Unión Europea–.
