Consul salutes charities BRITISH CONSUL Sarah-Jane Morris paid tribute this week to the “unique” spirit of British people that spurs them to join charities and help the community. by Jack Troughton

Arresting experience THE BLUES Brothers Experience and the legendary black and white known as the “Bluesmobile” attracted some attention from the officers of law and order at Sunday’s Moraira Music Festival. Officers of the Policia Local decided it was a picture opportunity not to be missed and agreed to cuff the duo just to show Chicago Police how it should be done! VISITING HELP of Denia and the Marina Alta in La Xara, Mrs Morris said she was impressed with the work volunteers were doing to aid people of all nationalities and pledged the consulate team’s support. And she said she wanted to impress on the Spanish authorities just how much British charities were doing to take pressure over over-stretched public services. Mrs Morris told RTN: “There is this uniqueness to the British culture. We cannot help but join a charitable group. It is a wonderful thing – and you certainly don’t have to be British to benefit. “I do find it very humbling, because I meet so many volunteer groups and learn of all the work they do in their own time – they could be just sitting on a beach enjoying their retirement.” The consul said the Alicante Consulate team wanted to help more and by meeting charities it “refreshed” ideas on how best to support them.
