Murcia house prices continue to fall by Keith Nicol IN APRIL the price of existing homes in Murcia fell 7.9%. The average drop in house value was a drop of 1,460€ per square meter, which now ranks Murica in third place when it comes to communities with the cheapest house prices; only Extremadura (1,387€ per square meter) and Castilla - La Mancha (1,201€ per square meter). Buying a home in the City of Murcia now costs 7.7% less than a year ago; more specifically an average of 1,824€ per square meter. Doing the maths, if you wanted to purchase a small property of 60 meters, you’d be paying about 9,120€ less than a year ago. These facts and figures are based upon information gathered in the latest housing price list from the Ventadepisos.com portal. And while Murcia, where there is also a glut of available homes for sale, many on golf courses, may be one of the cheapest places to buy homes at the moment, the communities with the price per square meter is most expensive are: the Basque Country (3,375€ per square meter), Catalonia (2,373€ per square meter) and Madrid (2,340€ per square meter). When one looks at details of the whole country of Spain, the average price of second-hand housing is 1,941€ per square metre, down 4.3% from a year ago. you can rent a home for an average of 521€ per month, up 6.6% from a year ago. The average rental price in Spain, in April 2013 was 673€ per month, with a semi-annual variation of 3% and an annual change of 5.4%.
