Aerocas has announced that it has received a purchase offer for the airport at Castellón from an un-named potential purchaser belonging to the venture capital sector, for 200 million euros, according to an announcement made today by the Valencian Consejero for Economy, Industry, Tourism and Employment, Máximo Buch. The airport has received a great deal of press coverage during the last year in particular, due to the fact that although it was officially inaugurated in March of 2011, it has yet to receive its first commercial passenger. News of the offer was made public in the Castellón Chamber of Commerce, following a meeting with the President of Aerocas ( the current concessionary) and the Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce, Carlos Fabra to discuss the management of the infrastructure, the potential purchaser having “ substantial projects for the airport and the economy of Castellón” planned. Carlos Fabra said that the offer had been made on the 31st December, two days after the deadline given for an agreement to be made with the former concessionary, Conaer, which has now entered into a situation of voluntary bankruptcy, due in no great part to the failure to agree a settlement with the Valencian Government, the Generalitat, which is a major investor into the airport project. A copy of the offer was presented to Sr. Buch during the meeting and a copy has also been given to the President of the Generalitat, Alberto Fabra, for the offer to be given consideration. According to the information released today, the offer includes purchase of the infrastructure and part of the surrounding industrial area, for the sum of 200 million euros. Continued on page 6
