Lots of fresh air activities in Murcia this weekend
PARKING WAS eradicated along Murcia’s Alfonso X this week as their car parking spaces were set aside for the public to enjoy leisure activities, workshops and competitions. The Mayor opened the Park (ing ) Day, an initiative promoted by the European Parliament and the European Commission, which is part of the programme of the Mobility Week. The 28 European Union countries partake in a variety of activities, which develop in areas that usually are occupied the parking spaces. “Creating more space for living and less to drive is the idea we have promoted in Murcia as we to continue to build a city that is more liveable, sustainable and offer something for the greater good.” The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara made these statements at the opening of Park (ing ) Day, an activity promoted by the European Parliament and the European Commission , in collaboration with the city of Murcia and the Ministry of the Presidency, which is developed within European Mobility Week, organized this year with the slogan “Move for cleaner air.” The Avenida Alfonso X, one of the most central of the city, has been divided into four zones. One of them, dedicated to rest, where you can take tai chi classes and seminars on health and wellness, the second is a more playful and reserved for board games, chess boards, ludo, cards, etc. Continued on page 6
